Yes, I seriously believe fanfiction is like, many people's secret. Everyone keeps it from everyone, especially those who write. Somehow reading fanfiction is not perceived as badly as WRITING it. I wonder why, really, when writing is the cool thing to do (in my opinion) I agree with you; we get to practice, and have fun interacting with the NICE readers. No one (outside of fandom) understands the whole idea of writing fanfiction, but then again, there are SO MANY registered authors on sites like Fanfiction.net, so it makes me wonder if most people who claim they do not write are actually authors themselves! The world of fanfiction is soooo addictive; it sucked me right in after I read my first story. It is a little different here in Singapore though, like for example, if you say things like "Samurai X was the most amazing anime ever.", no one will judge, and chances are that someone would agree with you. And practically everyone I know watches/has heard of Bleach and Naruto and Inuyasha here. But still, fanfiction or the liking of alternate pairings are a little...loser-ish. No one knows I write fanfiction in reality except for my friend Evelyn, who's the one with whom I traveled to Japan with! She reads BL (which is boys' love) but of course, we don't judge each other. I tried to Japan for two weeks by applying for this two week job at a Japanese university for one of my jobs but I didn't make the cut. I was very disappointed but it can't be helped. Unfortunately, I have no real summer plans. I was just going to study up on my Japanese and Korean to prepare for next semester. But I'm losing motivation. By the time I get home, I'm so tired I just want to fool around on the computer for a few hours (like reading Sesshoumaru and Kagome fics) and then go to sleep. I don't have the brain energy to study. But I really should get on it or I'll get really behind and struggle to keep up with the work later...

How about you? Besides the marathon and visiting your family, are you doing anything special this summer?

Yeah. I'm working full time, basically. I should have applied for more scholarships. This is the first semester where I had to apply for loans. Paying it all back is going to suck. I only have two loan options and one is a parent loan so I basically have one loan option. I think it's called the Stanford Loan or something like that...

I really hope you don't mind more wall spam dearie!! HAHA but I have more stories to tell you about Japan!!! LOL.

You know, because Asians generally look alike (especially to non-Asians), I got mistaken for Japanese when I was in Japan. And I speak the language, so most of the time I get treated like I am local. So what happened was there was this old lady who asked me for directions when I was in Kobe. And it was quite awkward because I have NO IDEA where she was referring to, and she was soooo old and tiny I didn't know how to leave her in the lurch. So what happened was I figured the best way was to get her to ask someone else but there was no one else in the vicinity. So I said, "Granny, I am so sorry but I have no idea where the place you want to go is, because I am not Japanese." And she was so funny, because she peered at me, squinting and asked, "You're speaking Japanese. If you're not Japanese, what are you?" LOL!! She said WHAT, and I thought of telling her I am actually an alien but that'd have been worse if she believed me LOL. So I told her I would help her ask the policemen at the police station near the subway station. And that was what happened. You imagine me, leading an old lady of easily 80 years old, walking slowly to the police station. It was kinda funny really, when I brought her in. It isn't very common to see a combination of a 23 year-old and an 80 year-old.

And I have another story! I went hiking in Tsumago, which is somewhere in the lower Northern regions of Japan, located between Nagano and Gifu prefecture. AND prior to the trip, we read from the brochures that we were supposed to rent a bell to ward off wild bears which might appear on the trail. So my friend and I reminded each other that we'd rent a bell. But when we took a bus to Magome, from where we would hike back to Tsumago, we happily bought snacks, sports drinks and yummy gohei mochi (this toasted rice cake snack in a savory miso sauce) and set off. Yes, you read right. We set off. WITHOUT THE BELL. LOL. So after ten minutes, we saw this middle aged couple walk towards us and they had a ringing sound that went along with them. That's when I saw their bell, suspended from their backpack and I realized to my horror that we've FORGOTTEN CLEAN ABOUT THE BELL. And so we went on walking and my friend starting asking each other what we should do if we ever see a bear. LOL. Then I was wondering if we should just try to run for it, but I figured that it would outrun us easily. Then I remembered the Aesop fable of pretending to be dead so the bear won't attack us, but then my friend pointed out to me that Aesop fables might be only fiction. SO I STARTED WORRYING (worrying excessively is part of my nutty character) and we decided that we would use our iPhone's loud ringing to try to scare off the bears IF we ever see one. But thank goodness, we didn't see any, so it's happiness YAY. I'd have died of shock if I saw one. It doesn't even have to try to kill me HAHAHA.

So that's two stories from Japan for you!!
