To start, be prepared for a long read, kind of.

Why wouldn't I dedicate this to you? I quickly realized that this story touched people in a way that I never expected it to. I never knew my writing could do that, and I'm quite moved by it all to be honest. It wasn't hard for me to see how this story was important to you in ways it won't be important to me. I've never been in your situation and I can only try to understand. As I wrote this, my thoughts were: If I feel insecure about a zit on my face, how must Kagome feel?" And that was really what helped me write. I don't mean to trivialize their injuries, I just didn't know how else to be able to portray the characters correctly.
I don't think I have a way with words. I like to think instead that I'm an emphatic soul and thus, what I can write resonates more with others. To be honest, I never expected the responses I got. One of the reviews actually made me cry and made me realize just how powerfully the story resonated with some readers.
When I first began this story, I wanted to write a story where Sesshomrau was the strong one, for once, and Kagome was the one who was "negative" in a way. A quick peek at Dokuga's Challenge Thread spurred me to do something related to "Think Pink" and I began to play around until I decided on this. And then, of course, I approached you and the rest is history.
I can't really say a lot about your feelings having never been in your situation. I can wish you good luck however and hope that you do emulate the character in this story one day in the near future.
It was also a little difficult to try to pick people to put in that support group. In the end, I tried to pick people who came from all the groups: a teenager, a veteran, a regular mother, a man who had to forge new dreams. I'm glad that I got most of those portrayals right. As I said, and will continue to say, I only guessed what they felt.
My favorite part actually was the line where he tells her "You're so brave." I think that resonated with me because of the symbolic gesture. The cupcake scene did touch me quite a bit though. I had to leave the story and come back after a few days so that I wouldn't start crying as I wrote. And good to know that last scene came out right. That's a load off my plate now. I think you remember from reading the drafts earlier that this was an "awakening" as Kagome describes it. I'm glad I was able to get that across.

Thank you for your review. I'm glad you liked the mixed folklore in the story, it's where I was going from the start- it just needed a little tweaking to fit the rules. I tend to like long oneshots myself so I understand where you're coming from. I had a lot of fun with this challenge and now am off to finish a few more
