The SessKag Tumblr is bringing the Big Bang back for 2021!

IMPORTANT DATES:

Artist sign ups: 1st–14th February 2021

Writer sign ups: 15th – 28th February 2021

Pairs are announced: Early March

Check ins: 12th & 26th March

Finished Fanworks are posted: Monday 5th -- Sunday 18th April 2021

WHAT IS A BIG BANG:

Big Bangs are a type of fandom challenges in which fic writers collaborate with fan artists.

Typically their format has been such that writers will work on a long fic and then artists will create fan art based on the fic.

However, our big bang is held a little differently and with more flexibility: We’re letting each writer & artist pair figure out how they’d prefer to collaborate.

There are no prompts to be handed out like last year. The writer & artists pairs can each decide what they want to create based on the Big Bang’s theme: Spring.


HOW IT WORKS:

Sign ups will be done via Google Forms. We’ll post a link to the form once the sign ups start.

Artist sign ups are held first.

The Writer sign ups will be held after the Artist sign ups

To ensure that we can pair everyone up evenly, there will only be as many writer slots available as there have been artists who’ve signed up for the Big Bang. Therefore it’s first come first served!

After sign ups are closed, we will randomly pair up all the attendees to form artist & writer pairs. We’ll announce the pairs in early March!

Each pair will produce 2 fanworks in collaboration: 1 fic & 1 fan art. The fic should be at least 1,000 words long!

Depending on what the pair prefers, they may work together or separately. As they have a full month to work on their creations before they are posted, they can also work out a schedule between the two of them, e.g. one of them finishing their fanwork first and the other using the first fanwork as an inspiration to create their own. Whatever works best for each pair!

Finished fanworks will be posted between Monday 5th & Sunday 18th April 2021. We’ll give out more information about the posting of the fanworks when the pairs are announced.

OMG this looks awesome, ugh I want to participate but I'm already too overwhelmed with challenges I'm behind on and finding new prompts hidden in the general discussion area. Anyone know if the drabble nights are going to return at all? and oooooh is there going to be a summer version of this BigBang?

There might be a new big bang next year, because they're such big events to organise that two in one year would be a lot.

Besides, SessKag week will be held in the summer, probably at the end of July like the past two years.

DDNs have made a comeback on the 18+ Discord server. Though cake has usually also posted the prompts on Tumblr.

You're free to post your contributions to this Big Bang event any time between Monday 5th of April and Sunday 18th of April.

Please give your partner a shout out and link to their work when you post! If your partner hasn't posted their work yet, go back to edit in the link when you can.

If you're posting on Tumblr, please use the hashtag sesskag big bang 2021. You can also tag me at @chierafied if you want to make extra sure we'll see your work.

If you're posting here on Dokuga, please leave a link to your work in this forum thread so we can make a post linking to it over on Tumblr.
