GMDDN....postponed... NOT forever! just until next month! instead of having a May GMDDN we're going to have a June GMDDN, and then a July GMDDN to get us back on track. Right now, I've missed out middle of the month time frame, and gave no warning for one tonight, aside from that it's a holiday weekend, and i dunno how many will show up, PLUS i have abotu 5 smutty fanarts i need to get worked out and done and bannerized for my lack of banner making over the last nearly 1 year. I think i needed a break and real life was stressing me out so much. I havent even drawn very much in the last year, and that makes me sad! but, I'm going to be plugging away at banners this weekend, and hopefully catch up on about 6 months worth of banners: for GMDDN, Awards, etc. Anyway, just wanted to give a heads up, Special GMDDN for June, I'll have to think of something spectacular for word choices! - Thanks in advance for understanding, sugar0o :-))

I'm so glad the archive at A.S.S. was saved through Dokuga. Some great fanfiction has been lost for various reasons, and I think that is so sad. All the hours spent writing and creativity just gone. I think about my beloved fanfiction as though it were an endangered species, or like the art Sir Kenneth Clark protected in the underground during the Blitz. We have to do whatever we can to protect fanfiction both from archives closing and from government interference. Maybe it would be a good idea for writers of non Sess/Kag stories to post to Archive Of Our Own so that if their work gets taken down at FF.net, or if a small site closes, their stories won't be lost.

That's a great synopsis, Hairann!! A Single Spark was created by a lovely lady named ~Winter~ - and I want to make sure we all remember that, because it was ~Winter's~ inspiration and creation that spurred everything that came after!! If not for ~Winter~ there would never have been a Dokuga. After running A Single Spark for many years, ~Winter~ needed some help and some respite... so she passed the reins along to another. Things sailed along smoothly for another few years, but then the site ran into trouble. The hosting company was bad, the site needed donations, and things really didn't run very well after that fiasco. ~Winter~ had pretty much turned the whole site over to the others, so there was little she could do either. In stepped our creator, Miss Kagura. She had ideas that she felt could help make A Single Spark better, but people were not receptive. So, in her usual fashion, Miss K just decided to create her OWN Sess/Kag site and see where it went. And, voila!! Dokuga was born! A Single Spark limped along for a few months, but it was clear that the site needed some major help. ~Winter~ regained control of the site and decided, for personal reasons, to close it. Rather than lose that incredible archive of classic Sess/Kag fanfiction, Miss Kagura approached ~Winter~ with the idea of conserving it. Miss Kagura promised to preserve all the images and stories in as much of the same format as possible. It turned out that preserving the A Single Spark layout was more resource-consuming than Miss K thought, so it all had to be rolled into the Dokuga layout, but Miss K kept her promise that the A Single Spark archive would remain a separate entity. And that is how, in 2008, two creative, talented, and dedicated ladies came to an agreement that allowed us to host some of the most fantastic stories written in the Sess/Kag 'verse!! My hat's off to both ~Winter~ and Miss Kagura. Not only will they forever hold a place of honor in the Sess/Kag fandom but, as long as I'm here, I will work to make sure that their contributions are not forgotten! :D ~~Wiccan~~

I don't have a whole lot of time, but after midterms which end June 14 I have to start in earnest. That gives me just over a month to research, compile, and finally organize my notes. I have to do a single interview and I'm going to try and do something at my old high school. I just have to find a couple teachers willing to let me. I'm thinking on doing a survey of a couple of the senior classes. Though, I'm not sure how many would actually answer the questions I'd have to ask.

A single spark was the original Kagome and Sesshoumaru fan fiction site that was around for years. When it closed down a few years ago, it was integrated into Dokuga so all of the stories could still be accessed. I believe there are still a lot of stories there that were never posted on Dokuga as well since some of the authors are no longer doing fan fiction. A single spark was not only a fan fiction site, but it also had its own awards. Dokuga was originally an awards group on yahoo I believe and when it seemed A single spark was shutting down, Dokuga stepped in to continue carrying the torch.

Thank you so much, r0o! My birthday isn't... a fun day much anymore - when my dad passed away in 2010, it was on May 19th, but he was buried on my birthday. Your idea for your topic on the capstone is a good start. I would recommend looking at the culture of several different countries to see if maybe you could perhaps identify at least three major factors that you believe contribute to the lack of self discipline of the majority of high school students. Or perhaps see if you can find when the trend began in a culture that academic focus outside of school began to decline and what was likely the cause of the decline. Sociology is really interesting once you figure out how in the world to understand all the stuff they are attempting to say. lol. Try to remember to look at everything in a very cold, almost robotic fashion. I still struggle with that when they start talking about intimate relationships. lol. Always gives me a hard time. You might want to look up Plato's Alagory of the Cave on youtube if you haven't seen, read or heard of it before. It's a great way to understand some of the family, social and culture influence on an individual in a sociological light. There are a several different versions that will come up. The one we watched in sociology was the one done in clay. There was a second one that was more of a modern twist, but I don't remember what it was called specifically. I'll pull out some of my old notes from sociology and see what else we watched. I'm sure that they would help. I go to Brown-Mackie and we have 4 weeks to learn 3 months worth including the midterms, finals and capstone projects and papers. 12 classes of information over load lol. Plato was a major figure for sociology so anything you look up on him will be good to know for your class. :) As for the fanfiction, I'll miss your writing, but I totally understand the school work interference. No taking down stories though! That's bad! Very Bad! I will throw a fit. lol. ;) Good luck with classes! ~Starfyre

English is not my first language either, so I understand how difficult it can be to not only speak but read and write it fluently. There are things that I am still learning about it even though it has been my primary language since I was about six. It's actually my third language but my second spoken, lol. Sign Language is actually my first language and German my first spoken once I could hear. What has helped me the most in improving in my use of tense, grammar and fluency is Schoolhouse Rock's Grammar Rock. It makes a lot of things easy to remember as well as understanding how to figure out sentence structure. You can watch the different grammar rock videos on youtube. The songs and images make it easy to understand and remember. I often find myself humming or singing the songs while I'm writing. It may not fix everything, but it would probably help you as it has me. The other thing I use a lot to check myself is dictionary.com. no www at the front. If you are not certain about the proper tense of a word, check it with the dictionary and it will tell you how to spell it for past, present and future. As for the nasty reviews, they are very hard to deal with. I have gotten ugly reviews on stories in the past (on a different site for a different fandom) that very nearly had me stop writing. The nice reviews were enough to keep me going but I do not allow anonymous reviews on any site any more. I do tell my readers that they can mail me or leave a note on my wall though. I have had several just send me a message. Maybe you could ask your anonymous reviewers to leave their thoughts on your profile instead? I hope that it helps for what it's worth. Keep writing, and don't worry, things will get better. :) ~Starfyre

So, maybe, a little box in the corner above the forums, saying something like: "Have you read this?" and the title. It wouldn't have to be just the more well known ones... maybe a recommendation list could be made of completed stories that are more than two years old. Recommendations could be from the general Dokuga population...or maybe pick random stories that have been nominated (even if they didn't win) a dokuga or single spark award. This would be a great way to generate some interest in some classics... particularly for newer readers.

I think it would be awesome if the moderators could select some of the "classic" fanfics, some of the excellent ones by the great writers, like DemonLordLover and Kouga's Angel, which have been around long enough that newer readers might have missed out. Then, cause the story to appear in with the newly posted writing on the front page. I don't know if this would be really time-consuming or hard to do... I'm going to school to become a teacher. English is going to be my Major but I think I'm going to minor in languages rather then literature. That's still a little up in the air, I've got a little wiggle room on my minor/second major, so we'll see what happens. As for discipline, I wasn't talking about bad behavior. Yes it plays a part, but I was talking more in the area of self control and focus. For instance, myself, I was very intelligent. I could answer any question correctly and got consistent A's on my tests and quizzes. However, I never really got much better then a D in any course that wasn't computer related. This is because I lacked the discipline to apply myself outside of school to do the work.

Ok, so you will get the credit for the introduction, and I like the topic you chose, lack of disipline in schools. You said you chose it because you were not too well behaved back then. I was a bit of a trouble maker myself. But on a more serious note, lack of disipline in schools is a global problem that needs to be addressed. :( I would love to see some of the points you come up with for some of the solutions. Maybe you could go on to become a psychologist, dean of discipline or a social worker. We need more well thinking and morally inclined individuals to groom young minds.

No, I'm actually a freshman. This is my first year in college. The course however, is entirely self study as an online course. The capstone project assuming you make it to that point, does act much like dissertation but doesn't earn me anything more then credit for the course. I'm considering doing something on the high school education system... still not sure though. I'm actually leaning more towards something about the lack of discipline in high school students. I know I lacked it. My Sociology course is only a sophomore course anyway. It's Introduction to Sociology. Note it's a 210 course.

It seems intense, crunching a sixteen weeks course by half the time means you will have to double up on your studies, good thing about that is that you will be finished in half the time, and your time management skills will be greatly improved. And hopefully you can get back to your great stories. ;)

Okay, so my summer classes started. This isn't that big a deal but all the reading I have to do for my Sociology class is going to stop what little writing I've been doing. Now, beyond that, I do have a few announcements. First, for those of you waiting for the story "Seals of the Past". I've decided that I'm going to roll that plot into "A Game of Gods." Second, "Dogs on Monogamy" is stalled. The next chapter is moving slowly, I've got an idea for the chapter but it's... it's just not working to well. I still like the story just that chapter bugs me. Third, well, since no one adopted "Days of Madness" I'm changing it's status to Hiatus. There a couple ideas written down and stored for it so I might continue it, if anyone wants it though they're free to pick it up. Fourth, I am in the process of moving computers. This actually could have happened at a better time, since classes just started and I'm working on compressing files so I can transfer them quickly and simply. Now, that's out of the way. I want to do a quick poll. Some of you are familiar with my story "Pirate Priestess", and I wanted to know if anyone was still interested in that story. I have the outline for it, but if there isn't enough vested interest I'm going to take it down. "A Selfish Wish" is stalled at the moment due to lack of motivation. I do intend to continue it once I settle into my core classes this fall. "What's in a Soul: Memories of a Chaotic Life" falls into the same place as "A Selfish Wish". There's still quite a bit left and I even have most of the remaining story planned out I just don't feel like writing it. There is something I'm forgetting... AH, I'm really sorry CarmMeldoll. I have the idea written out for that fiction I was supposed to write for you but I haven't actually written it. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo---- SORRY. I just think I have to much on my plate, I've written all this down and will get to all of it once things slow down. SOC-210 is killing me though. I bow down at the mercy of my readers and beg for forgiveness.

I know (believe me, I KNOW) that unkind reviews can really hurt. And some reviewers are just insane trolls who love to hate. But a reviewer who points out problems with grammar and spelling probably does not feel that they are being unkind at all, they just feel that it is important to use proper English. They want to help you write a better story. If all the reviews you get just say a story is great, it doesn't help you become a better writer. It's nice to get compliments, but it's really good to learn and improve, too. Really, it's a GOOD thing, not a bad thing.

The correct action, when you receive a review that you feel is a flame, is to take it to one of the Admins. Unfortunately, I cannot see my way clear to deleting this latest anonymous review, merely because the person offered genuine critique. You state yourself that your story has errors... and all the person said is that it has problems with verb tenses. If you do not wish any critique, you must post an author's note stating such at the beginning of your story. After that, anyone who offers critique will be in violation of our rules and such reviews will be removed, along with the offender being chastised. I hope this helps! ~~Wiccan~~

:( Can someone, anyone help me out with this. I am writing a story and I am quite aware that it has grammatical errors, mainly the tenses. An annonymous reviewer has been hounding me leaving the most awful reviews, some of them were taken down by admin. After that I have not recieved anymore, until today, the review is not as bad as before, but it still concerns me. I am at the point where I feel that I would disable annonymous reviews. However quite a number of the great reviews I recieved came from annon. The awful reviews really hurt because I have been online countless of hours correcting the mistakes, I even had help from a beta. Spanish is my first language and I am trying to improve. Curious enough the chapter that was reviewed was edited by a beta, It makes me wonder why some one could be so malicious. Help! I need some sound advice.

I hope you can help me find this older oneshot: Inuyasha has left Kagome, and for several years Kagome has lived in the village, being the miko. She used to burn a candle every night in hope Inuyasha would come back. At some point she stopped doing that. However, Miroku notices that at times, Kagome lights a candle again. One evening there's a candle burning again, and Miroku happens to pass by Kagome's hut when he sees Sesshomaru go in. Concerned for his friend, Miroku sneaks closer, peers in and gets an eyeful. In the end the monk is happy that Kagome has found someone to love again. (The candle is actually a sign for Sesshomaru to come over.) I have been looking all over for this fic, as I recently lost many faves of mine in a pc crash. I just hope the author didn't pull it down. I hope one of you remembers the title/author of this fic. I don't know if this story is old or complete for that matter, but I can assure you it has been some time since I read it. it was a great read but I cannot remember more than one particular scene: Sesshomaru and Kagome are trying to break their mating bond (forgot whay :/ i guess it wasn't planned or so, not sure if it was "completed" anyway...) and to do this Sesshomaru knows there has to be a betrayal. Thinking back on his father, who broke the mating bond with his mother, he comes to the conclusion that infidelity is the way to go. Promising to Kagome he will sleep with another woman. He cannot do so, forcing Kagome instead to try to sleep with another man. The bond is then broken, without Kagome actually sleeping with this guy, because there was an betrayal of trust by sesshomaru. The breaking is painful and when Sesshomaru wakes up again he thinks Kagome betrayed him and.....that's it, all i remember... Have you heard of this fic? I have been trying to find it everywhere. I would be happy to know if it still exists at all

I'd be interested in knowing just how we know that it was removed for an "incorrect rating." This site is not, nor has it ever been, in the habit of removing stories because they are incorrectly rated - unless the author refused to change the rating, or the author was underaged. I get the sinking feeling that perhaps the author was not of age to be posting that story in the first place, and that may be the reason it was removed and never reposted here. ~~Wiccan~~

no that isn't the one. In this one sesshomaru has injured is only remaining arm. When it heals he goes further down the tunnel to find a way out. He collapses one way trying to blow a hole in the ceiling and then goes the other way. But after being gone for a long time kagome goes after him I think she thought he abandoned her there. Sesshomaru pissed of the demons in the hive and then they find kagome wandering in the dark and capture her. At the end there is this big battle in the hive with the whole group and sesshomaru. Got another review from this 666, this time complaining that The Snow Angel isn't moving fast enough. Then they said that since I didn't meet their deadline, they're stealing Prophecy, though it was so badly spelled, I had to guess what they were saying. Plus more lovely names. I really don't want to have to turn off anonymous reviews at Fanfiction.net, but if this keeps up, I suppose I'll have to. Is that the one where they fall into an underground cavern and the wall falls in behind them so they walk down into the ground further, find glowing crystals, the dust of which makes other things glow, and find a demon society under ground (cause the queen won't admit there's even an 'above ground') and Sesshoumaru is supposed to escort the 1st princess to a ball, and the 2nd princess is the brainy not-as-pretty-as-your-older-sister one? Okay so I am looking for an old fic. I think it was on ff.net. It was kagome and sesshomaru trapped in a hole after a fight with naraku but the gang didn't know what happened to them. Both were badly injured and kagome was trapped under a rock. Oh an in later chapters there was this whole underground demon bee hive or they may have been bats.
