It has recently come to my attention that Java has an unfortunate tendency to dump and auto-install crapware (ie malware/adware/pop-up infested toolbars for your browser) on your machine whenever you download and install it. Which makes me pretty disinclined to download Java. Problem is that while I have found workarounds for avoiding this problem on PC, I'm a mac user.

So A: everyone should probably go run a virus/malware scan right now (even if you've done it fairly recently/don't have java installed/are the all-knowing master of your computer who would never download a silly virus/whatever it might still be a good idea because better safe than sorry).

And B: Does anyone know of a way to access chat without downloading Java? I've lurked forever but the chat feature is what actually made me decide to get an account and it'll be kind of sad if I can't use it.
