Yes, I know it's not even Thanksgiving (in the US) yet. Still, in light of the fact that almost every year I've been active on Dokuga, there's been some kind of Holiday themed challenged around this time of year, I thought it'd be fun for me to the host this time.

This year, I'm thinking the challenge will be based off Christmas carols/songs. I want to work together with Dokugans to come up with a list of twenty or so Christmas carols/ songs. Each song will have between 1-3 people signed up for it. The objective: to try to create a story or artwork based on the song you were given. Absolutely no restrictions expect for that the story should be complete.

I'm going to go ahead and give song priorities on a first come, first serve basis. That is, if you really want to do "Jingle Bells", make sure you give the song suggestion and let me know. Once three people have signed up for a song, I'll go back and edit the post with the list of all the twenty so that people know it's no longer available. I'm quite curious to see what happens.

Also, since I do want to give people time to work on this, I'd like to set a Dec 1st (at midnight EST) deadline for song submissions deadlines and sign up deadlines.

The deadline for submitting stories that meet this challenge is Jan 2nd, 2015 at 5:00 PM EST!

Make sure to give credit to the original artist (if there was one) for your song and let me know what song you choose.

Okay, this sounds fun!
But before I make any suggestions I have to ask if there will be a limit on how many times any author and/or artist may contribute to the challenge?
In other words would it be possible to sign up for more than one prompt?

For now, I'll say that it'll be one prompt per person. If as of Dec. 1st, there are other prompts that are open that you want to do, you can sign up then.

And of course, you could always write something separately based off a Christmas carol/song that isn't for this challenge.

I've always wanted to write a Sess/Kag for that song and I've had a plot bunny burrowed in my head for years!

Could I have Jingle Bells? The original one was by James Lord Pierpont. I have a pretty good one-shot idea for that.

You are right! I never did set a deadline for this! To be fair (and since I have school starting again on Jan 5th after break) the deadline will be 5:00 PM EST on Jan 2nd, 2015.

In light of the fact that only two people signed up, I'm extending the song choosing deadline to December 10th.

Remember:
-Pick a Christmas song/carol and write a story/draw a fanart based off of it.
-Three people can sign up for each song.
-If you want you can do more than one song, you just have to make a separate entry for each song you choose.

All stories are still due Jan 2, 2015 at 5 P.M. EST though.

umm question...would a Chillstep music that sounds NEAAARRLLYY like christmas music be okay to be based on a fanart????

It depends. If it sounds anything like the Trans-Siberian Orchestra then I guess it's okay. Does that help?

id love to join this holiday challenge, unfortunately I'm new to writing fanfiction, could some one tell me what the guidelines are for writing a songfic? I don't quite get it, but, I am creative and I can type really fast if I know what I'm doing. Deadlines wont be a problem.
