I can't remember which fanfic site I read the story on or what the story is titled.

I remember some things about the story and I don't know if it will help.

Kagome is trying to help Sesshomaru find a weapon that his father left.
Kagome goes through the well a lot but it doesn't take her home. On one trip she goes back and ends up meeting Sesshomaru's father before he became the Great dog General. Another time she goes back and meets him again, but this time Sesshomaru is there as a young pup.
Kagome and Sesshomaru go through some kind of valley.
Kagome and Sesshomaru find the cave where the weapon is supposed to be. She sees it but he doesn't.

I read the story a while back... but if anybody can help, I'd appreciate it. I would like to read it again if it can be found.

Like Honey-Bee said, that definitely sounds like Tears of the Fallen ^_^; looking for weapon, meeting inu-papa, goes thru the well but never home, then the valley with the awesome dragon and the little girl, and she sees the weapon because she is seperate from the timeline and the weapon is seperate from the timeline... or something like that
