The story is in Modern setting. I am not sure if Sesshomaru is a youkai or human.
He is dating Kagome and he invited her to Rin's birthday party.

Kagome met his mom at the front lawn of the house. Sesshomaru's mom said something mean to Kagome. For the rest of the day Kagome was ignoring his mom.

Sesshomaru wanted Kagome to apologise for being rude to his mom at the party but she refused.
Later his mom confessed to him that she had insulted Kagome at the party.

Souta found Sesshomaru drunk at the bar decided to take him back to his place. Kagome waited for him to wake up then later decided to forgive him.
