What happened to the demons? 16 Years, 1 Month ago

I have to admit to not reading all of the Inuyasha manga, although I am catching myself up. In everything I've read so far, though, there is no explanation for where all the demons have gotten to in Kagome's time. I've got my own theories, and I've got a story brewing in my head about it. But I would like to know if there was an official explanation. Could anybody help me with this?

Sadly enough, there is no official information.
True, a few demons appeared in Kagome's time on their own, but that was supposedly related to the use of the well.
So, you just have to assume they're either all in hiding (which I like to believe) or that they slowly died off over the years.

Mika's right it was never explained. Some people thing they just bred into the human population and the ones that didn't died off. But there was no official explanation.

Thankyou for the replies. I got to admit, I like the fact that what happened to them is so open-ended. Plenty of room for explanation.

I like the idea that Kagome's time is not actually the future of Inuyasha's world, but an entirely different "time-line", as it were. Better explains the lack of demons in her modern world. I know that's just a fan fiction idea and has NOTHING to do with the manga/anime, but I'd hate to think that my Fluffy didn't survive to spread the hotness.

I like that idea too, but the problem is that Kagome has met people in the past that are written down in the history books (If I remember right, she met one of the nobunagas) and she met Akito (i can't remember if that is the right first name) Hojo, which was written down in the modern-time family tree of Hojo's family.
But, yeah. It would make a lot more sense if the well was a whole "different demension" thing going on.

well my theory is after time demons mating with humans over time, like any culture the percentage of demon blood in the body lessen, as in Inuyasha and Kagome's children would only be 1/4 demon and if they in turned mated with human demon blood becomes less hence the over human population, maybe they are not 100% human. That might bring into deformity in people, myhaps it is the side effect of demon blood, same could be said about sanity. After all Inuyasha needed the sword to seal his blood so he could live sorta normally, well as normal as Inuyasha can.

Haven't you ever watched that old television show Sliders? lol He jumped into different worlds with almost the same history and people that were in his world. So I think it is still a possible idea. All it takes is one different choice to create a whole new world.

only problem with sliders is they had a hard time going back to their time. Kagome only goes to one or the other. Know there is a story called the cube I beleive where Kagome and Sesshomaru keep getting sent to different time periods and places while trying to get home they fall in love, but I do not think the story was ever complete. Although I did like the story The Portal where they go to a different planet.

Sliders was a very cheesy TV show, but interesting. I will admit to watching it. I think they still show reruns of it on the Sci-Fi channel. And Sliders was only an example. I think I vaguely recall the story you were speaking about, Terri. I do not believe I read it, though. Was it on ASS?
