Any computer savvy people out there? 11 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 11
I have no idea what happened but my windows 7 program is no longer letting me open zip files.
Every time I got to right click in order to extract the files the option isnt there. When ever I try to double click it just says "application not found"

I have no idea what went wrong with my laptop but I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out with this

I don't know how to fix that but you could download 7-Zip (just google it) and it allows you to open ZIP files. My computer was never able to open ZIP files so I had to download that when I first got it.

Seems like Windows lost the association to zip files... I'd recommend 7-zip as well (www.7-zip.org); but if you aren't wanting to install another program, then do the following:

Right-Click on a zip file.
- Select "Properties"

In the pop-up, under the "General" tab, find "Opens with". Select the "Change" button.

Now, it should say "Windows Explorer" under the Recommended Programs list. If so, select it, and be sure the check box for "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is checked. Then select OK.

If "Windows Explorer" is not in that list, then select the Browse button. Find the file: C:\Windows\explorer.exe -- and select it; then continue as above.

That should re-associate Windows Explorer with the .zip extension.
