Yes the story has been taken down thankfully and I have received a message from her and since I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt, I would like everyone to keep an eye out for the other story she is claiming to have gotten it from. The reason being is what she said to me in her message, 'and 2 the story i got it off was quite jumbled up, around 3-5 different stories in each chapter,' that sounds to me like they might have taken more than one story if the person does exist.

But please no bullying people in mine or my story's 'defence' or in Dokuga's name. We are better than that and at least in this case, things were resolved without needing to become no better than the thieves themselves.

Update: Not finding anything else (kind of slow today, sorry), however this does go to show how plagiarism can hurt in many ways. I've reported both of the above as they are lists which is blatantly against the TOS and clearly lists of compiled plagiarized parts of stories. I would suggest others do the same. (Simply report. No point in anything more at this point.)

....I sent a (polite) letter tell her that her work was stolen and that I hoped she did the right thing and took it down....
She said she had the author's permission? (Knows it's horse*cough* anywho) just getting it out there in case she tries using that defense.

It would still be considered plagiarism unless she posted the author's name and a way to contact said author, along with the date that permission was granted.

We generally HAVE to be able to contact the original author if someone claims to have "adopted" a story, in order to verify the claim, before something like that is posted on this site. We take plagiarism VERY seriously here, and actively work to ferret out not only fanfiction plagiarism, but also cases where a person will take a favorite novel and change the names. Stuff like that just doesn't fly here.

So I checked the above out and I noticed that they ARE from the same author, however apparently the person lost the password to the account for the second link. I looked at the original profile and the summary for the story "funny things" and the summary is: "This is literally many random things from various stories and some of my own"

So basically s/he does acknowledge that this stuff is not his/hers

Still report it, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be sending him/her a PM explaining that unless s/he gets the authors explicit consent and states this consent and the author in the story that it is not ok to post it under her own account. I will not be mentioning Dokuga at all.

Basically, though, it looks like this person is very young and while I am not saying this excuses what she did in the slightest I want to impress upon you all to listen to our wise mods:

DO NOT LEAVING SCATHING OR RUDE REVIEWS. S/he probably just didn't know or learn about the borders of plagiarism. I don't know. But the point is that I DON'T KNOW. Dont bully or insult her, s/he is young and impressionable.

Again plagiarism is awful but not all the time done purposefully maliciously.

Much as it pains me, we also need to remember that there are some people out there that would love nothing better than to discredit Dokuga in the eyes of the fanfiction community as a whole. It may well be that the people leaving the bullying 'reviews' or comments are NOT members here.

I think the point that Dokuga members should not be bullying or derogatory has been well made. One thing that members can do, though, to distinguish themselves from those who would be bullies is to submit their reviews, PMs, or whatever while signed in to ff.net. This shows that we are not afraid to identify ourselves and that our comments are indicative of the larger community view.

Well, it's happened again, this time to Forthright. Her fiction "Froth" has been pilfered and changed to a new anime/manga and it's probably why it's still up.

That's right they didnt even bother to change the name. Now FFN seems to be broken, b/c it's not letting me or any other notify them that it's stolen work. that being said...

DO NOT USE DOKUGA'S NAME IN ANY ATTEMPT TO GET THE PLAGIARIST TO TAKE THEIR STOLEN WORK DOWN. AND DO NOT CYBER BULLY!

But it would be appropriated if you did drop her a note saying that you have reported it, even if FFN hasn't gotten any. We all know FFN usually doesn't work fast enough or even at all when it comes to these things, and that it's usually the overwhelming response from fan's who stick up for both the author and the community.

It let me send an abuse report through. No mention of dokuga, of course. Just sadness that this would happen to such a good author and evidence showing that it was plagiarized. I hope I helped!

apparently by going to another fandom. not that it helps going to one of the ones that predated Inuyasha. seriously i could see if it (as in trying to get away with it, without getting caught) was something random but any of the big ones O_o totally asking to be found and caught.

Haha, Cake. I laughed hard when I saw that. I thought the same exact thing because Forthright's work is just that amazing.

I am currently attempting to report it, but for some strange reason FFNet isn't letting me.

I know this is no laughing matter, and I feel bad for forthy because this is unacceptable and upsetting... but my favorite part is how life seems to be delaying her updates... because a "Find and Replace" in Word takes up so much time...

So... I think it's been removed. I'm sure others, not just on Dokuga, has reported the plagerism, because I'm pretty sure almost everyone recognizes Forth's works.

I wonder if this is the same plagiarizer that copied my fic (word for word) posted here on Dokuga and on fanfiction.net before she was told to take both down from the sites.
