President Obama just confirmed the death of Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden. I will never enjoy the news of violence and death but many families who lost loved one to terrorism can hopefully rest a little easier tonight.

I just watched the live streaming of Obama's statement as well. I am relieved to hear it because I hope this means that the war will be coming to an end soon. It's been going on for far too long and it's time for our soldiers to safely come back home.

So glad they finally pulled the rat from those rocks. Gotta be the pessimist and wonder, though, are they sure they didn't kill one of his body doubles?

They did a DNA test. That's why the news announcement took so long. As a military wife though I know the troops won't be coming home any time soon.

Wow... didn't know they had the snake's dna on file. (kinda creepy) Guess the politicians will all be flocking to the news channels now to claim a victory in some way for themselves.

I'm just coming by to say that everyone needs to stay polite. No calling anyone rats or snakes please. I don't want anything to be misconstrued since political subjects, especially ones of this nature, can be taken WAY out of context. Let's stay positive. That's what Dokuga is about.

I understand, I wasn't calling the politicians any names, just Bin L. He's a snake, as far as I am concerned. No, I wouldn't make political commentary here. There's too many people in the world much better suited for that.

Nope, potentially the war on terror won't be over in our lifetimes, but we did nail the man that started it in the first place, which sure feels good.

I feel ya, Walter. Waging war against an idea or collection of ideas is much harder than fighting a country.

Unfortunately, we have more than Al Queda that has been at work. There are always a lot of whispers and such that Homeland Security picks up and sees what is a priority to follow and how to go about it. Some of the things we never know of are actually stopped by merchant marines and with collaboration of our allies.

I will say as a patriot, it is nice to see the culprit behind 9-11 brought down.

I am though worried as our country has been alarmingly ridiculed (even by allies) and I cannot tell you the times I hear when traveling of questions on why the US did what they did- as well as some of the anger and accusing the US of being too cavalier.
