Just curious as to everyone's tastes. Mine is Othello. Desdemona's plight is just so heart-wrenching. That, and you can't beat the RSC's Othello Rap.

Hmm...well. I'm not big on Shakespeare's plays, but my favorite would have to be Macbeth or Othello.

I've always liked Hamlet if only for the ending when the Prince of Norway arrives at the castle and finds everyone but Horatio dead. I always imagine him having a big "WTF?!" moment, and Horatio going "It's not what you think! Oh wait, maybe it is..."
Not surprising that people around here like Othello.

Hm, I'd have to say Taming of the Shrew. Very entertaining, and the plot is PRICELESS. ^^
Though at the same time, I love Hamlet. It's heart-wrenching. Tragedies are definitely a weakness of mine.

Hamlet. Actually, the first time I watched the anime, Sesshomaru's rant when he and Jaken were looking for InuPapa's tomb (the scene with the wolves), made me think of Hamlet. A claw. It is a claw I seek. Is it that I am afraid? Very Prince of Denmark-esque.

Hamlet's my favorite out of all of them. I've read it several times and find something new each time and I've worked on a play with it.
Other than that, I also like Much Ado About Nothing very much.

That's awesome that your son has that much more meaning behind his name
I've always wanted to see a staging of TA to get a real concept of how much fake blood they would have to use. Imagination only goes so far...

I actually took an entire Shakespeare class at university so this is hard! I'd have to make a distinction between overall favorite, and favorite to watch. The tragedies are much more fun to study, but if it comes down to watching an adaptation I want to see Much Ado or Midsummer Night's Dream etc.
My overall favorite is actually The Merchant of Venice - I wrote my term paper on Shylock. Its classed with the tragedies but its actually known as one of Shakespeare's "Problem" plays, because it (sort of) ends on an up-note and everyone doesn't die, but it def isn't a comedy or a romance. That ambiguity makes the character interpretation super interesting.

I like a Midsummer Night's Dream. It's probably a bit cheezy really but I like that sometimes, it's a good romantic comedy.

Oh for a muse of fire, that would ascend the brightest heavens of invention!
Kenneth Branagh's Henry the fifth is what first prompted me to start reading Shakespeare and will always be a favorite of mine. I'll confess I'm half in love with the Chorus for the delightful imagery in his lines...
At the top of my list is also Much ado about nothing and Twelfth night. I love the chemistry between Beatrice and the Benedick in their love/hate relationship as they constantly battle with words and wit throughout the play.
Twelfth night appeals to me because of the central female character of Viola who is virtuous yet independent enough to survive masquerading as a man in a male dominated era.

I love A Midsummer Night's Dream, I grew up on it and Mendlesohn's music for it. And I saw the most incredibly magical performance of it in Stratford, ON, years ago with Nicholas Pennel as Oberon. It was truly enchanting. However, now that I've seen Christopher Plummer as Prospero, in The Tempest, I would have to say that The Tempest is my favorite. The staging for the play was unbelievable! It was at the Festival Theatre, which has a thrust stage. They've a turntable in the stage and they were able to take the audience from the sea shore up into the hills where Prospero's cave was, not to mention the swamps of Caliban. It was a brilliant production.

I read this play when I was 14 y/o. Before that the only Shakespearean Play I read was A Midsummer Nights dream. Lets just say that my view on Shakespeare changed dramatically.
My favourite play is MacBeth but TA is in the top 5
