I found this thing that analyzes your writing style and matches you to famous writer. It's pretty interesting.

I entered a small part of one of my stories first and the result I got was 'Stephenie Meyer' and I was like 'oh fudge no, now I feel insulted'

So I entered a longer part of my story and got a better result which was Margaret Mitchell. Now I don't feel as insulted and a lot better about my writing.

If you want to see who you write like/have your writing analyzed you can do so here: iwl.me/

Share you results if you'd like

That thing is all over LiveJournal... I got Kurt Vonnegut for a drabble I did a long time ago, and Stephen King for a LiveJournal post about my son's cat. I think it picks up on key words to choose authors, especially with the Stephen King one.

Half a chapter of Fallen Angel got me David Foster Wallace (I had to look him up to find out who that was ) A chapter of Lord Sh'omamoo got me Chuck Palahniuk (Again, I had to look at one up but found out that is who wrote the novel Fight Club).

Just for the giggles to see what it would do, i tried it with the Peeps story and got J. D. Salinger. Finally, one i know!

Fun fact: All writers are crazy, to some degree. There is a reason for it -- actually making it through a novel almost requires it. If you love to read, then you\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'re continually benefitting from other people\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s craziness.-From Cracked

A Sailor Moon snippet got Arthur C. Clarke. A couple of bits from "Third Rate Romance" got two of the same authors as some of you above: Stephen King & Margaret Mitchell. I would guess they don't have a huge number of authors in the analyzer. It's fun though.

Vladimir Nabokov is a Russian novelist and chess guru. His most famous work is the infamous Lolita. I did a report on him for lit in high school to drive my teacher nuts because it had to connect to a book report. For that I chose Lolita as my way of revenge for her making me read Gone With the Wind for the one before it. She about had a cow!

William Gibson is kinda' the father of the cyberpunk genre.

For two excerpts, I got H.P. Lovecraft. O.o Imagine the surprise with that one. I've heard a lot about said name, but never looked into it. For three other ones I got Neil Gaiman,Ian Fleming, and Arthur C. Clarke. Only one of those names sounds familiar.

The movie Coraline was based off of his book of the same name. He's also written The Graveyard Book, which is kind of a rewrite of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book -- it's not quite as creepy as it sounds and was actually kind of a cute story.

Some of his other works I am familiar with are American Gods, which is a very intersting read and, in collaboration with Terry Pratchett, Good Omens.

I think he is also the creator of the Sandman series of graphic novels, although I've never read any of them.
