Hey! Ok, a few days ago, I was talking to my best friend who reads fanfiction (Twilight sadly, she doesn't like InuYasha) and we were wondering why in fanfiction, sex is called 'lemons'.

Sex is good right, and lemons are sour, why call it that? Apples are nice and stuff, so why not 'Apples' or 'Strawberries'??

Who started calling it 'lemons' anyways??

One of the first popular hentai OVAs was titled Cream Lemon. Shortly after, writers began labeling their fanfics as lemons when it had sexually explicit material. That's why the term "lemon" is used. Eventually, the term "lime" was coined to describe a fic with everything short of sex in it. That term was just a spin off of the already accepted "lemon" usage.
So it basically became known as lemon in reference to that OVA,kinda like a honoring that one.

My hubby asked me this once a few years ago, and when I told him, he said why don't they just call it what it is. I said not sure, what would you call it he answered like a 16 year old would ,Boinking, I just gave him a look rolled my eyes and shook my head and went right back to reading. I am married to such a child sometimes. lol

I only know because a few years ago i was wondering the same thing, and one of my other fanfiction friends actually wrote yahoo answers and asked, and that was one of the answers and another friend who was into it before Inuyasha, said that also. it kinda makes sense if you think about it.

Good to know. I always thought it was because cirtusy things can be rather tangy... and so can sex!

Oh I don't deny I'm married to a pervert, he does the most infuriating things at times, like oh, we will be walking in the mall and he just out of no where reaches over and goes "Boob Check" and grabs my chest. I think his goal in life is to make me blush as red as he can. It amuses him because my very best friend in the world is a professional dominatrix and she and I can talk about anything and I don't blush or anything. Even worse, he thought it was cute to teach my son to pinch butts, took me months to get my son to stop.What is cute when they are a toddler is not cute when they are a teen.

But, he is mine and I love him, sometimes wanna kill em but love him none the less.

I think its a male thing in general, my son asked for a maxim calendar for xmas last year, this year he asked for a playboy one. My answer was no, Dads was a huge grin, and so was all his uncles.

Boinking...lol kori. Your husband and mine are almost alike! I think his goal in life in to is to embarass me to death. Too many incidents have resulted in me walking away red faced and claiming I don't know him. But I love him death and wouldn't changed a thing about him. My own personal Miroku makes my life interesting and funny!

Call me weird, but I eat lemons when I get them in my drinks or side on a plate. Lemons are tasty, apply to fics, makes it appealing and juicy (guess that would apply to the drink/food too). Oh well!
