That's been happening for me for a while too. Just super slow load times.

I keep having issues with the site loading. It is loading incredibly slowly. Even typing out this message, buttons and icons part of creating a post are still loading in. Besides that, at least twice now I have gotten this message:

Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL

Been experiencing this slowness issues and a Data Base error several times a day for 2 weeks.

Has anyone looked into this?
At times it gets so bad, you cannot access the website at all.

yeah okay i definitely dont think anyone has fixed this site cause the mobile and the desktop dont work anymore it says it cant connect to MySQL

Hello, is there anything that can be done about this loading issue? It takes me about 10 to 15 minutes sometimes to load anything and I haven’t been able to enjoy my favorite stories here for months now, loading times are that slow. I’m also experiencing the SQL code.

It seems like everyone is having that particular issue. I’ve been getting it as well. Maybe Mitharus would know what’s going on with it.

Pretty sure the slow loading it tied to the SQL issues. Sadly unless the site gets some dedicated work done it'll probably keep getting worse.

This is already one of the only sites I still visit that runs without added security and technically outdated HTML. Sad thing is, outside of spot treatments it's not cheap to bring the site up to date.

Darn. Ok, that makes sense.

Any idea how much updating the site would cost? If this is something that will only get worse is the spark archive in danger? Maybe do a donation ask? Too much here that would just be permanently lost if the site died.

Unless someone knows someone conversant with Joomla! who could look into the site coding, I fear we have no real way of fixing the problems plaguing the site. I don't code. I don't know anyone who does. Mitharus has no time or expertise to fix whatever is causing the trouble.

I continue to pay the site hosting all by myself because there is no way to run a fundraiser (in which I'd have to send PMs to everyone) with the site mail problems we're having. It's probably a matter of time before the whole thing collapses under the weight of its outdated software.

I'm so sorry. I wish I was better able to address the problems myself, or hire someone to do so, but I don't even have the first clue where to FIND someone capable of doing so!

I'll ask around my tech groups but I've never touched J!. I know a bit but just parsing through it would take me way to long. If we get an idea of what it would cost we could always pass it around the facebook group. I'm just starting to get all the finances in order so I can't promise anything but I can look at donating some.

If you do find someone to work on it I'd certainly be willing to contribute to the cost. be sure to post about it because I can't be the only one who would be upset at the loss of the site. Maybe we could even get a donation button for the homepage if that happens.
