Priestess Skye’s Twisted Fairy Tale Challenge for Fanart and Fanfiction!
That’s right, it’s about time I’ve begun another challenge. This time we’re looking at Fairytales, and how we can twist them around to meet our duo’s needs.
Take a fairytale, or folktale, any that you like and you’re going to twist it to tell a story of Sesshoumaru and Kagome. However, there are some rules and specifications you need to follow to qualify for this challenge.
1. I’m not looking for a retell of a fairytale or folktale. Retelling it and just inserting Kagome or Sesshoumaru isn’t allowed. I want you to twist the fairytale and make it work for them. So you can take the promise of a Fairytale ie: Cinderella, but don’t tell me the story of Cinderella. You can look at the bitter relationship between siblings, between one being treated unfairly over the other. You can use Sesshoumaru as a prince, seeking a prize, though not necessarily Kagome. Or perhaps the Ugly Duckling where it’s not looking so much at looks, but at power, being the odd one out, working to achieve potential that we know is there, etc. But not a basic retell! Fanart needs to follow this guideline as well, though it’s okay to be a touch more obvious
2. Do you need to have a happy ending? No. You can if you’d like though, however, I would like the tone of the story to have some depth to it. Fluff is allowed, but we should see some real situations and real emotion.
3. Ratings: All goes, but watch the age limits because this does not supercede Dokuga’s age restrictions with regards to age.
4. Word Count: again, open. However, if you’re creating a chapter story on this, and I hope some do, then you need to follow Dokuga’s rule of average 700 words per chapter. You could do a drabble series out of this as well and label it one shot collection. Or it can be one giant oneshot. Up to you.
5. Canon or AU: Either or, it’s up to you. Your story, you choose how the challenge best fits the story you want to tell
6. Deadline: Open. All of my challenges have no deadlines to speak of
7. What to do when you’re done? Once you’ve started or you’ve completed, please come back to this thread and post a link! We’d all love to see what you’ve written, and you can claim the banner and copy it into your profile as a neat little token for your efforts.
