I’m looking for an old story and I hope someone can help me track it down! I can’t remember a lot of it but it’s set in the past. Kagome wants to be with Sesshoumrau but she has to pass all of these tests in order to prove herself worthy. I think there’s a dragon or sword involved. It’s an angsty story for sure.

I think there might be another demoness or mate in the picture? Sesshoumaru cares about Kagome but is fairly indifferent to her struggles to be with him.

This is BEYOND vague but I hope someone can send me in the right direction!

Will also happily accept reccs for angsty stories in a similar vein (Sesshoumaru being a jerk).

It has a want-to-be-mate in the picture. But sesshomaru want nothing to do with her. The mate test has two parts (intellectual capability and battle royal) and she is tested by the three of the youkai lords. The dragon comes into the story at the end of the test.

Maybe Embracing Ice by Yabou. Rated MA. Kagome gets sent even further back into the past, where Sess is young. She has to pass tests set by his parents to prove herself worthy of mating Sess. She also lives with dragons on the mainland for a time while battling spirits in her head. Great story.

None of the suggested stories were the right one but I did read them all

I’m pretty sure the story was also on fanfiction.net. I wish I had more detail but it’s mostly Sesshoumaru being pretty cruel to Kagome because the chances of them being mates is slim.

Is that the one where she stumbles upon a competition inside a barrier and was forced to join or die? I think it’s in my favourites list on ffn...

Been a long time since I read them so I’m not sure if they have the dragon or the sword, it sounds vaguely familiar....

I’m looking for a story myself lmao I can’t remember it very well but I think it’s opening was set on a battlefront or something and Sesshomaru went into either heat/rut or maybe rain died? And he was locked up behind a barrier in a cave and they sent (/Kagome volunteered/sacrificed herself?) Kagome in to tame/appease him or something and they ended up mated after? If you can think of it let me know in the three I will be making lol
