All I can remember of the story is that something happened where the other lords had to present Kagome with a present or plot of land. I believe the southern lord presented her with land that was barren and decimated and Sesshoumaru took offense to the slight. Kagome tells him that it's ok and then she revives the lands and the southern lord is upset. He may have even tried to get the land back. I want to say that Kagome won the right to mate Sesshoumaru or she was already mated to him when the lands were given to her.
