So I remember scanning through a story way back when where Sesshomaru and Inuyasha's father comes back to life suddenly and is angry with Sesshomaru for not doing something. He cuts off Sesshomaru's hair because the length symbolizes his being a lord or something or it might even have something to do with his power.
After he's done it he learns that he was wrong, I think Kagome or someone else sets him straight, but by that point Sesshomaru is long gone from the area. I think Kagome went with him because it happened in front of her and her group of friends. I can't remember if they were already courting or in a relationship or if that event triggered their relationship.

I remember reading it on fanfiction.net but I'm not sure if it was a complete story.

I know the fanfic that you are describing. I just forgot the title of it. It's on this site. The part you are talking about is where Sesshomaru and his teammates had to get a hair cut for speed. They are training for the Olympics.

The plot does not sound at all like what Serena is describing, the cut-off hair is the only common feature.

Sorry but that's not what I was looking for. l'-'jj is right. In this story Sesshomaru willingly cut off his hair to make a point and for his feelings for Kagome I believe.

The story I'm talking about takes place in the feudal era, and having his hair cut off was not at all willing.

I think other demons came back to life as well. And there's a possibility that it was Naraku's doing or perhaps a new evil.
I'm not sure. I really did just scan through the story. I didn't read through every chapter. It was a chapter story though.
