Chapter One

Kagome watched as her silver angel fought against Naraku. She was dying, he was losing, and they both knew it.

Up the street we walked, the boulevard with the bus stops

Where nameless flowers nod in the wind

Only a week ago they had been in her time, two friends spending mere days together. But for her, those days had been a lifetime shared. And it had ended. They had returned to face their final battle.

The sunlight, the haze wave, the gentle wind that stroked your cheeks

Do you remember the promises we made that day?

On the inevitable ending of the dream, she had told him she loved him. He had returned her words. They promised to stay together forever.

The miracle happens when two hearts join together

When I close my eyes, we are together

She heard his cry, and was pulled from the memory. Her love lay bleeding at her feet. She drew him into her arms, weeping softly. Her tears fell onto his face, and his golden eyes opened.

Your smile is a priceless jewel

I don't want anything else

"I love you, Kagome." He smiled at her, and she wept. Her love was dying, and she could do nothing.

The magic called destiny that brought us together

Please let this moment stay forever, I pray

"I love you, too. Now be quiet. Save your strength." She brushed her hand over his cool cheek. His breathing was becoming shallower.

My tears are flowing because love hurts

Because I am overjoyed right now

"Save it for what?" He caught her eyes. "I am dying. We are dying." He reached up, and pulled her head down to rest on his chest. "Please don't leave me, Kagome."

Sometimes we misunderstand each other

But the storm always passes

We can cross our hearts and make up

"I will stay." She promised, and pressed her lips to his, feeling the last breath leave his body. "I will stay with you forever." She lay back down, holding his still body, and waited for death to take her. "I love you," she whispered, "my Sesshoumaru."

We are together forever.
