Hanging Around

Chapter 1

Kagome Higurashi, age 17, always hung around the wrong crowd. Naraku Hihi, Sango Taijiya, Kagura Hihi, Kikyo Higurashi, Kanna Hihi, Hiten Raimei, Manten Raiemei, and Onigumo Hihi, though everyone called him Muso. They were known as the Punks/Goths of their school, and they owned it. No one dared stand up to them. They were all the same age, the exception being Naraku, Onigumo, Kagura, and Kanna. Naraku and Onigumo were held back, and both Kagura and Kanna were pushed up a few grades. Kagome, Kikyo, and Sango had always hung out since they were little. They all went from being "pretty pretty princess's" to being "Down with life, Bring on death" type people all at the same time. Kagome had been going out with Naraku since the seventh grade. They were all in the eleventh grade now.

Kagome always wore black, dark purple, dark blue and dark red. Her shirt was always a tank top with fishnets over that, a sweater just barely over her shoulders. Her pants were always a ripped up skirt with ripped up pants underneath, having fishnet stockings underneath those. She had one pair of shoes, and one only. They were big, black combat boots. Sango, Kikyo, Kagura and Kanna pretty much wore the same exact things, except they wore white and other colors, along with a variety of ways to wear them.

The guys never changed the way they wore their clothes, all the same. Baggy black pants, with baggy black shirts, and a big baggy black sweater. When they did wear something other than black, people would stare. It was just to out of character. Most days Naraku was seen without his sweater. Kagome always had it draped over her shoulder. Naraku tied his long, black hair down at the base of his neck. Everyone else in their group had black hair, besides Kanna. She made that up with her lack of emotion.

The group was constantly pulling pranks and skipping classes, though the teachers were too scared to do anything about it. So were their parents, at least the ones that had parents. Naraku, Onigumo, Kagura, and Kanna were all siblings. Naraku and Onigumo, and Kanna and Kagura were twins, though Kagura got the better out of it. Kanna was given birth with a disease. Their mother died shortly after. Naraku, Onigumo, Kanna, and Kagura all were sent to a foster home. No one felt like splitting up the four children. After Naraku and Onigumo turned 18, they all moved out, Naraku and Onigumo being 18, they were able to live peacefully. Sango had her father, mother and little brother, Kohaku. Kagome and Kikyo, who were twins, had their mother, grandfather, and two brothers, Shippo and Souta. Hiten and Manten spent most of their lives on the streets, caring for their little sister, Souten.

Inuyasha Taisho, Miroku Houshi, Koga Okami, and Hojo Okuraseru all came to the school in the same year, seeking Kagome's love. Every time, they found themselves nearly beaten to death by Naraku. People knew not to mess with Kagome, although the new guys that came to the school all had a tendency to go after her, and no one else. Inuyasha was the first, and he had ended up falling in love with Kikyo. He now stalked her, along with Miroku who stalked Sango. Hojo still was in love with Kagome, but he didn't show it. Koga had ended up going out with Ayame Kirei, one of the preps of the school, best friend with Rin Wakai. Together they all made up the P.J.'s. (Preps and Jocks) Inuyasha, Miroku, Koga, and Hojo were in track, while Rin and Ayame were head cheerleaders. They were all best friends.

Our actual story begins... Now!

Sesshoumaru Taisho walked into the store, meaning to buy just one simple thing, milk. He was eighteen, and in the eleventh grade, though he was supposed to be in the twelfth, he started school late. InuTaisho, his father, walked in soon after him. He had been talking non-stop about how his company needed Sesshoumaru's help as soon as he graduated. "You know, if your mother hadn't insisted that you were too young to go to school when you were young, you would be graduating this year. But no, now you're stuck in the eleventh. Oh well, I suppose that's all right. You'll be going to school with your brother, Inuyasha. I believe the school is called Shikon High. (I know, everyone uses it... he he) And you need to find a job, and quick."

This caught the attention of a woman who was also in the store. It just so happened to be Kagome's Mother. "Excuse me, sir. Did you say Shikon High?" She asked, walking over to Sesshoumaru and InuTaisho. They nodded "If you need a job, I can give you an easy job and pay you $100 a week. Just call me and we'll talk about it. I have to go now." She handed Sesshoumaru a card and left the store, leaving her grocery bag behind. Before anyone could catch her, she had taken off in her car.

"Sesshoumaru, I believe this is a very good chance for you. You should go to this ladies house and deliver her groceries, and ask about the job. Her address is on her card." InuTaisho said, taking the card from Sesshoumaru and looking it over. "Get going now, I'll get the milk myself, I'm a big boy!" Sesshoumaru smiled to himself and left after taking the card back from his father.

***

Sesshoumaru knocked on a white door, hoping it was the right house. He sighed when the door opened and an eleven year old stared up at him. "Is Mrs...." He looked down at the card, trying to figure out how to pronounce the name. "Mrs. Hig..ur..ash..i... here?"

"MOM!!!" The boy yelled, walking away. Someone inside cursed, and then ran to the door.

"Souta, how many times have I told you not to yell? You interrupted my yoga." Mrs. Higurashi said, coming to the door. "May I help you? Oh! You didn't have to come here, you could have just called." She said, noticing who it was.

"Actually, you left your groceries at the store. Since I'm already here, I would like to talk about that job you proposed." Sesshoumaru handed her the groceries, and she walked into the kitchen, inviting him in. He did, sitting on a couch next to the boy who answered the door. "What's your name?" He asked, trying to be polite.

"Souta."

"And how old are you?"

"Eleven." Another boy walked into the room, sitting on the other side of Sesshoumaru. "He's Shippo, six and stupid." Souta said. Shippo began crying. (I know, Shippo's older, but I had to make him young for later in the story!) Sesshoumaru patted his back, and the sobs slightly ceased.

"Souta, Shippo, leave. Mommy needs to talk to the alone now." Mrs. Higurashi said, patting Souta on the head.

"I bet it's another guy for Kagome." Souta laughed, chasing Shippo out. Both of the boys began laughing together as they climbed the stairs. Mrs. Higurashi offered Sesshoumaru tea, and because he grew up learning manners, he accepted with a 'thank you'.

"Well, sir, as you know, I have a job that I think you'll be perfect for. You see, my daughter hangs out with people that I do NOT like. I've told her to stay away from them, but she finds ways to meet up with them. I've even barred her window, but that doesn't work either. All I ask is that you watch her, and make sure she doesn't do something stupid." Mrs. Higurashi asked, or rather, pleaded.

"So, you're asking me to baby-sit your daughter? I get 100 per week, right?" Sesshoumaru asked, wondering if the job was really worth it. Mrs. Higurashi nodded. "I think I should meet her first." As if on cue, the door was slammed open and Kagome ran into the room, beat red.

"Mom! I'm going to kill that Inuyasha kid! Where's my gun!" She yelled, glaring at her mother as if everything was her fault.

"Kagome! Settle down, we have a guest!" Mrs. Higurashi cried. Kagome stood straight, turning her glare from her mother to the man sitting next to her.

"You get yourself a date, mother?" She sneered. Mrs. Higurashi sighed and glared at her daughter. "Mom, I need my gun, that hanyou will pay!"

"What did he do?" Mrs. Higurashi asked, sighing. Her daughter did this on almost a daily basis. Inuyasha Taisho was the last person to have Sesshoumaru's job, and it didn't end well.

"The freak asked me to the spring dance! I'm going to kill him! He already knows that I'm going out with Naraku! If I don't kill him first, then Naraku will make him wish he would die, which do you want, mother?" Kagome asked, glaring at Sesshoumaru again. "Why the fuck do you look so much like Inuyasha?!" She snapped.

"I look so much like Inuyasha Taisho because I am his brother, Sesshoumaru Taisho, and, frankly, I wouldn't mind if you killed my brother." Sesshoumaru said, standing up. Kagome stared at him a moment, before slightly nodding her head and smiling.

"Good answer, my gun, mom?" Kagome turned her attention back to her mother. Mrs. Higurashi sighed and picked up the phone. "No Mom! No fucking cops! Ok! I'll settle down! I'm going out with Naraku..." Kagome glared at her mom a moment before stomping outside and slamming the door.

"That was my daughter Kagome, and... Why did you say that you wouldn't mind if she killed your brother?" Mrs. Higurashi scooted a little away form Sesshoumaru.

"If I'm supposed to follow her around, I might as well get on her good side. I'll take the job, but I must ask to have the money every Sunday." Mrs. Higurashi nodded and smiled widely. You see, Inuyasha, Miroku, Hojo, and Koga had all once been hired by Mrs. Higurashi to do the same job as Sesshoumaru, all failing miserably. None had become her friend, instead turning to the opposite of what Kagome was, and what she hated most, preps and jocks. Yet another man was about to meet who Kagome Higurashi was.
