Runaway With Me by Sesshy's Koi

Prologue The New Begining

PROLOGUE: The New Beginning

It was not something she'd taken lightly, this THEY knew, but she acted

as if nothing affected her. Her newly acquired cold demeanor never

slipped from her face. Her voice was cold and harsh, and she hadn't

laughed forever. She'd changed since that day, it had only been two

months, but her personality had completely changed since then. She'd

grown stronger with the completion of her soul and the Shikon once

again inside her body. She could call upon the power whenever she

needed had. She used her own strength and earned her respect in doing

so. Many youkai and human bowed before her. She was still pure in heart

and soul, never soiled by her past, but she was a deadly force when

angered. The one thing that THEY didn't know, was that she still cried.

She still mourned for her fate when she was alone, she'd never let

anyone see her in such a weakened state. She hadn't cried for 3 months

now, and never again would.

THEY got married. Kagome was happy for her two best friends and their

perfect new start. Sango was even pregnant, but her friends' happiness

never helped her own emotional pain, it only made her feel worse.

Miroku was the only one who ever knew that she was feeling bad due to

his newly acquired understanding of auras. But he didn't know the

extent of how bad she really felt, or how much her heart would

constrict painfully during certain subjects, mainly, HIM. Telling

Sango of Kagome's obvious pain would only make her stress, and he

knew that stress would be harmful for the baby. But telling Kagome he

thought there was something wrong with her would never turn out well.

It would have before, but not now. Kagome became more distant with

each passing day. She thought of her family. What they have been doing

now that she was dead in their eyes. But no, she wasn't dead. As much

as she wished she were, she was just stuck. Yes, she was stuck in

Feudal Japan.

The well, her only way home, was blown up by none other then Naraku.

He had learned of her secret and fantasized of crushing her spirit

until none was left, and he did just that. Even if he was dead now,

the well couldn't be fixed, so she'd be alone forever, never to open

her heart to anyone again. She wasn't meant for love, that was her

reason, and she stuck to it ever since HE left her with the burden of

a broken heart, and she wouldn't allow it to happen again.

Inuyasha was forced to hell after the battle. Well, not exactly forced,

but that's what he said. He wanted her to think he had no choice so

he wouldn't be the bad guy in the whole mess. But she'd heard the

conversation between himself and Kikyo, and resented him more for his

lies then the heartbreak he'd caused. He could forgive him for leaving

her forever, but not having the last thing said to her from him, a

lie. She hated the way that made her feel. She wasn't even good enough

to know the truth, that he didn't love her.

'I guess all who come within contact of the sacred jewel are doomed.'

She sighed. 'He's dead, and I'm destined to be alone forever, although

the jewel is back in one piece inside my body, my heart is completely

shattered.'
