Prophecies Hold No Meaning by Hurricane

Pain

She sat by the shores of a beautiful lake. The lake was of a powerful origin and should have killed her upon appoach. Had she not been what she is, the beauty of those waters could easily turn to fury, and rip her soul from her body. But they stayed calm and serene. This lake was called The Lake of Tears. Created by fairies and misused by everythng else, save the fairies themselves. The lake has grown to only admit those with a fairy-like bloodline. So she sat, with her body half submerged by the warm water on this cold night. The full moon shown beautifully upon her saddened face as she remembered the events of earlier.

Flashback

"Hey! Get your scrawny ass down here, wench!" an angered voice called from the ground. "Why should I? We both know you can get up here yourself and ask me to come down nicely. Anyway, I like it up here." "Nice to know you enjoy the scenery!" the irritated voice, known as Inuyasha, called back with sarcasm. "Now get down here or I'll-" "Sit." "AAHH!" The hanyou obediantly kissed the ground. His muffled string of curses ringing loudly to anyone within miles of them. The girl began to climb down gracefully from the mighty tree, pausing only to jump the remaining 5 feet to the ground. The girl, known as Kagome, then turned to face the now livid dog-demon. "What the heck was that for?!"

"For being so rude!" "At least Kikyo has more control than you."

"Wha-What did you say?" she had asked meekly, dreading the answer just as much as she was anxious to know it.

"Don't you get it, yet?! Kikyo was and always will be better than you at anything and everything you will ever try to do! What are you? A shard-detector with the looks of a rat demon and the strength of a dog. Wait, no, that would be giving you some pride, wouldn't it? You have only the strength of a bug. A worthless, stupid bug. She, on the other hand, has beauty, strength and, what do you know, BRAINS!?! Unlike some people that look for attention in people they're never gonna get it from!"

The girl from the future listened to all of this with a sunken heart and heavy tears. She was trembling and she had the extreme urge to get out of there now! She had to. If she didn't, she would lose it and kill everyone. Sango, Miroku, the elder Kaede, and even little Shippou. She no longer cared the fate of the hanyou that stood before her. She stood with controlled rage in front of the one that had her heart in his hand and broke it.

"You should not speak of what you know not of" she said, her fairy side taking control. "Kikyo is a corpse. A walking animation of the woman she was before. She is not to belong here. Her soul, the Kikyo you had fallen in love with, is held in Limbo. Never to escape her invisible tomb. Whereas, I am here. Living and breathing in front of you. If you had cared to look closer, you would have seen my heart in your hand. It turns out, that to you, I am invisible."

She then turned, and walked into the mythical forest before her. As if the earth was crying tears she couldn't shed, rain fell. Her figure seemed to glow in the pouring rain. The one left behind had made a mistake he didn't mean to make. He had crossed a line, and there was no going back.

End of flashback

The question was, who would take his place?
