A Love Unknown by Yuzuki

Sea's of Blue

The moment he saw her three years ago, he knew he would always love her. He tried to deny her at first, but it was of no use.

She had beautifully deep rich brown hair, that fell to just below her butt. She had curves in the right places, and the clothes she wore, so unfamiliar to him, but sparked his interest.

One of his most favorite things about her was her blue eyes that held so much emotion in them. He loved that he could stare into her deep, soulful eyes and know that as long as she was around everything else in the world tended to fade away.

Those eyes held the memories of the past, their past together.

He remembered the first conversation they had together.

They sat together beside a cool stream on a hot afternoon.

She grabbed a pebble and idly tossed the small pebble between her small hands. Kagome trying to find the courage to ask the youkai the questions on her mind.

He smelt her nervousness and apprehension. It came off of her in waves. He looked into the water, trying not to stare at her.

"You seem to want to ask this Sesshoumaru something Miko."

Kagome rolled her eyes, her nervousness forgotten. "Kagome. My name is Ka-Go-Me. Not Miko, so if you would be so kind Lord Sesshoumaru as to call me by my name, I would appreciate it."

"Hn."

She sighed deeply, avoiding conversation for the time being.

Soon after a few eternal moments of encouragement she spoke.

"Sesshoumaru?" Kagome barely whispered enough for her companion to hear. Her deep brown bangs covered the swirling stars called eyes.

"Yes, Ka-go-me?" he replied smirking at her.

She raised her head and looked into his eyes. At that moment she saw him. She saw his molten eyes, that bared the weight of secrets, that held love, compassion, playfulness and curiosity. She didn't see a killing machine, who was the most feared youkai in all of Japan.

She saw him. And he was beautiful.

With a new found understanding for the Western Lord, she asked quietly,

"What do you think love is?"

He thought for a few moments and turned back to her.

"Kagome, in a world full of illusions that are played upon a stage, we seek to find the truth in others, and more importantly ourselves.

In the hopes of finding someone with the childish ignorance of love, we lend our hearts to those who we find trustworthy enough to bare the weigh of such burden.

Some strive for excellence and surpass our own highly held expectations while some seem to take the childish ignorance to an alternative level and disappoint the one who entrusted them with such a weight to bare.

But there are few critics who seem to reflect their own opinions on the examples of those who hold the illusion of love on the very stage of life, in which the vision of grandeur is seen till the ache and pain of the very essence of emotion is exposed and raw.

After the curtain falls never to successfully rise again with the childish ignorance that we all once held. Till the next players enter, the curtain shall remained closed.

No one can really define love. We all try but yet those three simple words can say so much and to some not enough."

After that moment, something changed between the two.

As the days rolled on to weeks of hunting Naraku, the two became more than alleys, more than acquaintances and they even became closer than friends.

They fell in love.

They hid their love from everyone, knowing that soon, the fight would determined the fate of the world would take one of them, that it would take her away.

He knew it would be her life that was going to be sacrificed for the sake of the world.

His heart broke every time he saw those beautiful eyes of hers. He saw that she knew her fate, in those eyes. But she smiled to everyone else, and when along together they loved, and mourned the loss of a love

that was never meant to be.

They hid their love from the brash hanyou, the henti monk, the brave demon slayer, the small fox pup that Kagome considered her own child, and even hid their love from the small orphan that Sesshoumaru loved so dearly.

They had no desire to have their love known to the world, for now they both were content to keep their love between the two of them. Knowing that it would be questioned by few, doubted by all, and looked down upon by those who saw fit to judge them for it.

It was never to be known to the outside world.

For now it was just the two of them, content with it staying that way for eternity.

From the moment he saw those beautiful blue eyes, he knew he loved her, and no matter what he always would.
