When Hummingbirds Attack

Kagome broke through the brush heavily panting. She had been chasing after her foolish hanyou friend, who had gone off "to defend her honor."

Inuyasha had been in an uproar when Kagome had reappeared in the early afternoon hours from her 'morning bath.' Then he flew into a further rage when he realized that his bastard half-brother's scent was originating from his best friend

The stubborn hanyou had been so bull-headed about Sesshoumaru taking advantage of her that he would not listen to her pleas. Sesshoumaru had shown and spoken of his interest to Kagome many months before. The demon lord had been willing to move at a pace that the young miko was willing to go, never pushing her beyond her comfort level. That included both the physical aspects and revealing to the dense hanyou their mutual attraction.

This morning however, her inu had surprised her on her way to her bath. It had been his gentle touch in contrast to his smoldering eyes that convinced Kagome he was the one she wanted to gift her virginity to.

It had been a glorious experience for both and the great Sesshoumaru was loathed to release her. Nevertheless, both knew that she needed to explain to Inuyasha the new change that had occurred. Sesshoumaru had stayed close by in case Kagome needed protection from her "protector."

So now here she was, staring at her lover and no Inuyasha in sight.

"Where is he?"

The stoic youkai nodded his head slightly while saying, "Hn."

Kagome followed his gaze to find frantic Inuyasha swing his untransformed Tessiaga around at no apparent opponent. Kagome squinted her eyes and then noticed the small birds with rapidly beating wings. Immediately, she fell to the ground laughing.

Gasping for air, she managed to get out, "They're attracted to the red."

"Hn." Sesshoumaru's golden orbs drifted to the small woman on the ground. She truly was a beautiful creature.

His eyes refocused on the humorous scene the hanyou was providing. "Leave it to the hanyou to be defeated by hummingbirds." Really, at times the hanyou was beyond pathetic.
