"We gotta go! We gotta go!"

Sirens wailed and chaos erupted.

"Shit!"

We were running now, but somehow, she still felt frozen. Unmoving. Unfeeling.

"Kagome!!"

"Kagome!!"

Ughh... Kagome shifted in her sleeping bag. She tentatively cracked her eyes open and bright light seeped in.

Bright lights were flashing. Getting closer and closer.

Her legs felt like weights, and she knew that they were right on her.

"Could you be any slower?"

The teenager groaned. Running a hand through her raven hair, Kagome sat up. She yawned while shaking off the last bit of sleep.

"And a good morning to you, Inuyasha." Kagome smiled up at the irate hanyou.

"Keh! Come on, the sun's already up. Get yer ass in gear." Inuyasha stalked off towards the others as Kagome gathered up her things.

She sighed. Another day in the life of a time-traveling, reincarnated miko. Kagome smiled lightly as she watched her friends move through their morning routine.

Inuyasha, being his usual, arrogant self, bossing everyone around. Sango, being the responsible one, was double checking all of our supplies. Directly behind her; Miroku entertained himself with lecherous thoughts, all the while, gazing at the demon slayer's bottom with a silly grin on his face.

Kagome frowned. Something was out of place. Where was Shippo?

As if on cue, the young fox jumped into her arms. He cried out to the miko and held on for dear life.

"Shippo, are you okay? What's the matter?" Kagome glanced down at the kitsune worriedly.

Sniffling, the demon kit turned in her arms and pointed towards a group of trees from which he just emerged.

The others, having heard Shippo's cry, all gathered and looked to see what was distressing him.

Coming into the clearing, Kagome saw four figures step forward. "Sesshoumaru..."

The tall taiyoukai approached the inutachi, his own companions trailing behind him. Golden eyes swept over the group in front of him. His gaze lingering on Kagome for barely a moment before snapping towards Inuyasha, who had his sword steady to attack.

"Greetings to you, as well, little brother."

The hanyou snarled at the silver-haired dog demon. "Cut the formal crap, Sesshoumaru. What do ya' want, you bastard? You can't have tetsusaiga!"

Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes on his half-brother. "I have not come to fight you for tetsusaiga. Even if your half-breed hands are unworthy of possessing the blade passed down by our great and terrible father."

Inuyasha growled in response to the insult, and shifted into a defensive stance.

Father...

"Father!" Tears ran down her face, and emotions choked her.

"Please... No!!"

Kagome shook her head and tried to focus on the fight that was sure to happen. But she was surprised when Sesshoumaru continued...

"This Sesshoumaru has a proposition to make for you." His golden eyes came to rest on Kagome.

Meeting his stare, she saw no deception and moved towards Inuyasha, hoping to get him to cooperate with his older brother for once.

After much growling, pointed glares, and few 'sit' commands on Kagome's part, everyone had finally settled and were ready to hear the Western Lord out.

"It is the belief of this Sesshoumaru that we may benefit in the temporary alliance of our packs in order to bring about the downfall of the evil half-breed." Sesshoumaru stated without revealing any emotion.

Inuyasha, not being one to waste time with words, but not wanting to be out-done, brashly made out an instant reply. "Keh! Ain't no one's gonna kill that bastard, Naraku, 'cept me!!"

Kagome rolled her eyes at his declaration. "Osuwari."

The hanyou immediately plunged face-first into the dirt, as Kagome turned her attention to the demon lord.

"So, you want to travel along-side us?"

The taiyoukai raised an eyebrow. "Is that not what this Sesshoumaru just said."

Kagome chuckled nervously and nodded before turning to her companions. "Well, I think it's a good idea. Any objections?"

Ignoring Inuyasha's cursing, the miko saw her friends' apprehension towards the alliance, but they all seemed to agree with the idea. Turning back to Sesshoumaru, Kagome smiled. "Well, then, 'looks like you got yourself a deal."

Thank you peoples who have rectified my stupidity in using the HTML tags. **^_^**

I hope to actually finish this one-shot up and have it posted by my birthday, but considering the other fic I have going on FF.net, it may not happen.
