Prologue

I'm sitting in study hall, not doing a thing. Let's see where this takes me. By the way, this is simply a prologue for something much greater. *Please note that this entire chapter is set in a time before the actual progression of our story, hence, it being a prologue.

"Spectacular."

"Simply lovely."

"A future heartbreaker, I assure you."

"And look at those eyes." The specter shifted the rounded, glass objects on his face as he leaned in closer, "Marvelous seas of blue." Those seas of blue as so wonderfully called scanned the room, taking in the numerous faces that crowded around the basket. With an assumed guess, one would think to be looking at some rare oddity that had been sculpted from the hands of gods and placed on a pedestal for all to see.

Indeed, this babe was a rare oddity. The first human offspring to ever grace the soil of Japan and not be of foreign blood to have blue eyes. Monks and priestess alike were called from all across the four great lands to check the child for demonic presence but none was found. Herbalists and traditional doctors checked for deformities, any kind of sign that would give a clue as to why this one was blessed as such. Yet again, it had all ten fingers and all ten toes, two arms, two legs, two eyes and two ears.

And above all else, it was a girl.

Everyone wanted their hands on the child, to be said to have raised and cared for a first blue-eyed baby and all wondered if she would be different from the brown eyes that littered the land. Such is how she came to the pedestal she now lay in, on show like a prized vase; taken into custody by the Southern Lord the moment a whiff of her birth had caught in his ears.

"Lord Hajime, it has come the time to name the child." A short servant approached his lord, head bowed with a parchment and quill in hand.

The tall, broad shouldered daiyoukai gave a long hum of contemplation, bringing a strong hand to brush across his chin in short, sturdy strokes. "Kagome."

The server blinked, unsure if he heard correctly and he took a step closer. "Pardon me, milord."

"Ka-go-me." Hajime repeated, his voice never wavering.

The slight scratching of a sharpened tip gliding along the rough creases of the crude paper followed shortly after and smack of lips as they pursed together before parting.

"You have a question, speak Tomeo."

"Well, I have never heard of such a name and while I am surely not the most gifted in the meaning of names but I do believe that this Kagome, has not such a definition."

A deep throated chuckle vibrated through the shishi demon as he turned his body slightly to give a more full view attention stance to the younger, lesser youkai. "I know. It does not have a literal meaning. I just liked the way it sounded."

Hajime – Beginning

Tomeo – Cautious man

Kagome – Does not have a literal meaning as stated in the story, I used a reference that our lovely Rumiko Takahashi has said and can be found here: http://www.lostwindchime.net/hook/lit/names.html

Shishi - in Chinese, means "stone lion," roughly I'm trying to say that Hajime is a lion demon

Leave this prologue some love and build it into a full story!
