Blue Rose: Song Of A Tortured Soul by Princess_Of_The_Stars

Chapter 1: An Unlikely Traveling Group

The group had been walking for days now, never once had they stopped to take a break. It was only at night that they dare to stop to make camp so that all could be well rested for the next day. Meals were made on the way, or bought at local vendors in nearby villages.

This group was as strange as it was uncommon. A miko that traveled with four youkai, a hanyo, a dragon, and three other ningen. But no matter how strange this little misfit group seemed they were all like family, a pack. The ties of this group were golden nothing, except for the death of one, could possibly cause them to break apart.

It was the miko that held them all together, the young woman of 19 years who seemed to make as many friends as she did get into trouble. Always warm and a source of comfort within the group, she was selfless. Even going out of her way to put up with the sibling squabbles that happened in her, dysfunctional, family. Long ago had she lost the comfort of her time, the well sealed by her own hand after graduating high-school. She had bid her family good-bye after her graduation party and never once did she look back.

It was true she missed her oka-san, her ji-chan, her niichan, but it was something she was able to deal with, thanks to the help of her new family. Though the taiyoukai in the group had not aided her emotionally with kind words of comfort. For the look in his eyse was enough to tell her that he was there for her. Gone were the days of death amongst the taiyoukai and his half-brother's band, and thought there were still some hostilities amongst the two of them, they not once pined to slaughter the other in cold blood.

Much to the rest of the pack members' delight.

The final battle with the dreaded and evil hanyo, Naraku, had ended with the deaths of the undead miko, the younger brother of the tajiya (S/p?) Kohaku. Who had dove infront of one of Naraku's tentacles, sparing his elder sibling from a death blow that would've killed her if not for his interference. but still, Kohaku died, once more in the arms of his nee-chan, Sango. The woman who was currently walking behind a houshi, whom had a very large red-handprint on the right side of his face.

"Oka-san?" comes a small voice from a preteen girl riding upon the back of a large twin headed dragon. The girl had large doe eyes, and long black hair that was tied in a half-ponytail.

"Yes, what is it Rin?" the woman who she had called out to looks over her shoulder with a warm smile.

"Why is it that Sango-neechan hits Miroku-san so?"

This question led the miko that the young girl was speaking to, into a fit of giggles "Because Rin-chan, Miroku-san has a problem with keeping his hands to himself...and so Sango punishes him as such"

"Oooh" came an innocent response, looking to her fox-tailed companion Rin smiles "Well...that explains why it happens to much then huh?"

"Yeah, I've been traveling with these guys for years, and Miroku has yet to learn his lesson"

The two young ones would burst into laughter at the houshi's expense. The houshi of which presses a hand over his heart and looks as if he had been assaulted "I am merely showing my affection for Sango-chan.."

"Affection...my ass you hentai" the woman beside him scowls giving him a menacing glare.

As the two of them bantered quietly amongst themselves, the twin-tailed neko, Kilala, joins the dragon Ah-Un in a simultanious eye roll followed by a shake of their head. The cat was curled up on Ah's head and the two found it rather amusing that the man known as, Miroku, did this everyday and every second when the opportunity presented itself. It was as humorous as when Inuyasha, the brash hanyo of the group, was sent plummeting into the ground when the word 'sit' is uttered by his miko friend.

It was escpecially funny whenever Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru would begin to argue, and thus Kagome, who hadn't been in the fight in the first place. Would somehow win the sibling argument by picking the direction herself where they would go, and much to the group's surprise, Sesshoumaru never once argued back with her, knowing that without her, there was no pack. Plus, he always egged his brother on, rather liking it that a mere ningen onna held such power over Inuyasha, not to mention it was times like that, that showed the group who was REALLY in charge.

Sure it made them nervous whenever Kagome told Sesshoumaru what to do, and how they were going to do things. Even though the two Inu-youkai had their keen senses of smell, Kagome always knew when there would be a darkness if they went down a particular path, so if their was a fork in the road and Inuyasha wanted to go right, while his brother wished to go left. Kagome would always pick the path in between and would begin to walk down it standing in the middle of the middle path she presses her hands to her rounded hips and gives a glare so that no one would disobey her.

Not to mention the riding youkai, Ah-Un and Kilala, found this really funny and if they could, would probably be rolling around on the ground snorting with laughter. Something they did quite often, only mentally and between the two of them so that they wouldn't be scolded later.

Before the group knew it, it would be night-time stopping to set up camp by a nearby hotspring. The girls would all go off to bath leaving the guys, and yes that now included Shippo, to await their turn to relax their muscles from the days' journey.

As Sango and Rin chattered happily, Kagome was turned so that her back was to her female companions, arms crossed over one another as she looked up at the starry speckled skies above. Eyes drifting closed she'd smile some, and giggles at something that Sango says looking over at them with a smile and adds her input. The taijiya was ranting and raving about her fiance, the houshi Miroku and how he could be such a hentai.

As they exited the spring the Kagome had stated that she was going to go and scout out the neighboring area somemore. The other two, not arguing with her would relay the message to the rest of the group. Though the guys would be worried and ready to go into 'over protective mode' the females in their pack would not allow them to go after the young miko. Kagome almost always carried somesort of protection on her, whether it be a small dagger that she could channel her reiki into, Sango's sword that she sometimes borrowed, or even her trusty bow and arrows. Kagome was even good with hand-to-hand combat so she wasn't the weak little girl that she once was. She was a fully blossomed young woman with a horrendous temper and miko powers that could make Midoriko herself proud.

Walking alone now, the young woman would look around. Stopping suddenly as a soft voice made its way into her ears. There was somebody else here in her location, it disturbed her because she sensed no one. It was as if no one else was here, and she was still pretty close to camp so if there was someone, and she wasn't here alone, why wasn't anyone coming to see what was up? Even if instructed she knew the others would come to her aid, even if she didn't need their help.

Stumbling out of the trees, Kagome's eyes widen slightly at the site, there was a perfectly round pond, it wasn't very big, more like the average size of a koi pond. The watery surface of the pond reflected to moon in its glassy surface.

That was when she saw her.

Standing in the middle of the small pond, was a woman. Her body was bathed in the moonlight, long white-opal hair sparkled in the pale ghostly lighting of the moon. Dressed in a beautiful white outfit. But it was diffrent, it left the top of the woman's chest exposed, and it was off the shoulders. The sleeves were long but not to much, they were at a standard length for a kimono, if not a tad bit longer. This, almost ethereal creature's abdomen was exposed and the skirt of the outfit was long and flowing. The outfit was decorated with beautiful vines with blue roses, in full bloom, were strategically placed on the outfit. Her long beautiful hair was pulled up into a ponytail, in which a hairpeice, made up of glass blue roses, was what held her hair up. Another, rose this one also blue and very real, was placed behind one of her delicately pointed ears.

Kagome gasps silently, at the very beauty of this youkai female. She knew her to be youkai, due to what little jiyaki she could sense from her since it was hidden so well. But this woman almost seemed to be a youkai-tenshi, the way her body moved in the moonlight. She was singing a song, the song so beautiful and crystal clear with an underlayer of sadness.

The wind would flutter the youkai woman's hair as her eyes open, revealing her eyes to be as blue as the roses in her hair and that decorated her outfit. It was these very eyes that seemed to peirce threw Kagome's soul. But she could tear her eyes away, or even move. The woman's song would fade off into the final note as she looks upon the young miko standing before her. Dark blue eyes would look into Kagome's crystalline blue ones.

"...Shikon Miko...so you have stumbled upon me during my song..." the woman's voice was as beautiful as her singing one "...I have been awaiting for her for many moons now...how fitting it is that we finally meet when I am singing.."

"How do you-?" Kagome's eyes would not leave the woman infront of her "How do you know of me?"

"..I have known you for a very long time, my dear Kagome" she says a mysterious smile curling the corners of her full blue painted lips.

"But how..?"

"It is fate that you and I have met...just like how fate shall entertwine us together at a later date..." she held her hand up she halt the miko from uterring anymore "But for now, I must leave you, your friends are coming to your aid since you have been gone for many-a-hours now..." her arm drops back at her side, eyes beginning to glow. Disappearing a swirling vortex of blue rose petals. The woman is gone, those same petals flying towards the young miko, as they swirl around her another rose is formed pinning itself behind the female's ear. Eyes wide as the woman's voice whispers to her.

"...Until Next Time...Miko Of The Shikon..."

With those words, and the loud shouting of Inuyasha that fall on deaf ears. Kagome's world goes black. The song of the woman with the blue-roses played over in her mind and was the only thing that she could now hear...

End chapter one, hope you liked it. So, my lovely reviewers...who do YOU think the mysterious woman is? go ahead and give a few guesses, but that does not mean that I will tell you.

As the summary says, ALL shall be reveiled in the end.

Until next time!
