Author's Note: This is a sad Valentine's Day story. There will be character suicide in it; so if you do not like this then I suggest you don't read. It is based of off a poem I just wrote. It will have four chapters and hopefully I will get the whole thing done by Valentine's Day. Yes, that is my goal let us see if I can make it!

Disclaimer: The sand box lid was open, I promise not to steal any of the toys!

The boy cries

is beaten and told lies

He has a tail

something no one could foretell

The woman was in labor it had already been twelve hours. The woman kept saying, "There is something wrong! There is something wrong with my baby!" Everyone in the room thought that her screeching was just her worrying over much. No one would have guessed that a mother half-crazed with worry could possibly be speaking the truth. They were about to get the shock of their life.

It was three hours later when they all heard the midwife gasp. The child had been born, but you couldn't really call the thing in her arms a child. It looked normal enough. That is if you could overlook the two magenta stripes on his: cheeks, wrists, hips, and ankles, and the blue crescent moon on his head. This was not the only thing that was wrong, he also had a tail! No one has ever before heard of such abominations among humans. Yes, there is the occasional tiny fleshy rat tail, but this was nothing of the sort. It was covered in a light downy fur. Very akin to newborn puppy or newborn kitten fur.

The news spread throughout the town faster then wildfire. Mother and child were kicked out of the town. The mother resented her child for what it had caused her. She was just going to kill it and then return to the village, but no one would allow her back into it. She wasn't going to kill the infant. No, she had thought of something much worse than that. She would make it suffer; make it suffer for all the wrongs that it had caused her. Her child would not get the chance to live any semblance of a normal life. That she would make sure of.

The infant was allowed to eat only because the mother needed him to survive. She made sure that he ate; if truth be told she probably made him eat more then he desired. She really wanted him to live; just so that she could torture him. It astounded and freaked her out how fast he grew. He aged five times faster that any other child she had seen before. He grew two more abnormalities. One, his fingernails that were once as dull as they ought to be turned razor sharp. Second, his hair would grow to his mid back, and every morning she would cut it. Only to have to do so again the next day. After three weeks of cutting his hair and it regrowing she gave up. She now knew that he would never hold any semblance of a normal child.

By the time that he was five months old he already seemed to be five years old. He would no longer breast fed, and for this the mother was thankful. She had started noticing the last and most recent development of his inhumanity. His vampiric fangs. These fangs were the things that scared her most about her young. She was expecting every day to wake up undead. This never happened. If truth be told the child never hurt his mother. The child was named Sesshoumaru; after the life that he tore away from his mother.

The boy would stay out late into the evening. Just looking at the other kids play around. When he would come home he would normally get hit if he spoke. Learning how to speak when hit for opening your mouth is very hard to do, but somehow Sesshoumaru learned despite of his beatings. It was one day that he saw a father talking to a boy that he became curious. He went home early that day and asked his mother, "Mother, a saw a boy with man. Many children have such a person around them at times. Why don't I ever have one mother?"

Sesshoumaru recoiled when she turned to look at him. For once in the boy's life he did not get hit for talking. No, his mother had decided that emotional pain was far better than physical pain. "It is simple. You know that I take care of you, and that you are unfortunately my son. Well that is the other half of them. the one that helped give life to them. You don't have such a person because you are a spawn of the King of the Underworld," she said knowing that he was taught all about the underworld.

Sesshoumaru ran out of the house with tears running down his face. He now knew why his mother hated him so much. He was the son of something very evil. He was the son of evilness himself. Sesshoumaru did not think that she could be speaking falsely. He never before heard of lies, and did not know of their existence. He was leaning against a tree and sobbing into his hands. "Why are you crying?" a softly spoken voice asked him. He was shocked someone would actually talk to him?

"Why do you even bother talking to me? I am a monster and a freak," he asked not looking up so that she could see his disgusting face. The girl sat down next to him. He did not worry about her seeing his tail because he always hid it.

"Do they pick on you to? They pick on me all the time. Mother says that is just the way that people are," the voice spoke again. Sesshoumaru looked up to see what they could pick on such a nice person for. What he saw made him gasp. Her eyes, they were the color of the sky. When the girl heard the gasp she looked down ashamed.

"You find me ugly to don't you?" she asked with tears in her eyes. Sesshoumaru was shocked! He was the ugly one at least she had a normal face. It wasn't distorted by devil marks!

"Your not ugly. You can't possibly be ugly your not a spawn of the Underworld's King, I am. Mother even told me that I was," Sesshoumaru said. With those words her tears stopped, but his once more picked up. The girl was surprised how could his mother say such to him? Even with her freakish eyes her mother never said mean things to her.

"My name is Kagome, what is yours?" Kagome asked trying to get him to talk to her. He was the only child that didn't throw stuff at her. He looked up at her with his golden eyes flashing with confusion.

"My name is Sesshoumaru, why do you want to talk to me? I am a devil's child." He said looking into her captivating eyes. 'If I'm the son of the devil she must be a daughter of god.' Sesshoumaru thought.

"You can't possibly be a son of the devil. The devil always tricks people, and you haven't tricked me at all. So no matter what anyone says you can't be the son of the devil," Kagome said with a brilliant smile lighting up her youthful face. The two of them talked until the sun started setting. Then they both said their goodbye. One going to a home where she was loved and cared for, but the other was going to a place where he was hated and beat.
