Hey, Look! I finally decided to retype my first chapter!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

She looked around her carefully before entering the clearing. With cautious steps, she approached the great God Tree slowly.

Kagome sat herself down at the base of the tree. She sighed with contentment as she relaxed her muscles. The girl looked into the blue sky, watching the untouchable clouds that decorated it. Kagome smiled and let her gaze fall upon a pretty violet colored flower.

Plucking it from the forest floor, she twirled it between thumb and fore-finger. 'How pretty...'

Kagome inhaled its sweet scent and gave yet another sigh of contentment.

This place was so peaceful; she loved coming here.

A couple minutes passed before she gave a long sigh of impatience. 'Where is he?'

Just then, she heard a rustle in the trees far to the left of her. Kagome rose to her feet excitedly. 'He's here!'

Kagome opened her mouth slightly in anticipation as she stepped towards the direction the noise was coming from.

A figure stepped out from the shadows, but it was not what Kagome had been expecting.

It was a tall, gruff looking youkai. He was in a sort of uniform, but it was not the typical armor of the East. The symbol embroidered on the waist belt, however, showed where it originated from. It was a crescent moon. The symbol of the West.

Kagome froze in place. This was the first time that she had ever been approached by a soldier of the Western military. She had prepared for something like this to happen ahead of time, since coming here was a dangerous thing, especially with the ongoing war between the West and the East.

But it was even more dangerous, because of her status in the East.

Kagome was the daughter of Ginsu Higurashi, the lord of the Eastern territories. There was no doubt that the West would want her hostage.

The demon began to advance towards her slowly. "Look at what we have here... I was just passing by when I smelled the heavenly scent of a woman, and came here to see whom it belonged to, only to find Lady Kagome of the East. How fortunate for me... Lord Inu Taisho will be overjoyed to hear that we have finally captured the lovely daughter of Lord Higurashi..."

Kagome came back to her senses and pulled out a small dagger hidden under the folds of her kimono, secured by a leather strap. She was definitely not going to allow this warrior to kidnap her.

"Don't you dare come near me! I'm not afraid to defend myself against you!" Kagome warned him, taking a step backwards.

"Tsk, tsk, Lady Kagome," he said smugly, completely ignoring her threat. "You should know better than to come out here alone in such a dangerous time. Now, if you do not wish to be hurt, put your 'weapon' down and come with me. I can assure you: You will not be harmed... As long as you do not try to fight me. Then, I will not be so sure for your safety."

"In your dreams! I am not afraid to fight you!" she threatened.

"Alright... As you wish, Lady Kagome," the youkai said, taking a small bow before swiftly appearing beside her. The blade she held was knocked from her grasp and into the tree behind her. Kagome soon suffered a similar fate as her knife as she was pushed into the wide trunk of the aged tree. She gasped at the rough impact as her body slammed against it. This had to be the first time this had ever happened to her.

The moment her body touched the tree, the youkai stepped forward and held her body against it with a single hand.

"Let's go, little girl. I've wasted enough time just playing around with you."

He lifted her off the ground and slung her over his shoulder. Kagome couldn't scream. She was out of breath.

"Let... go... of me..." Kagome panted, trying to push herself off of him in vain.

"No chance, miss," the youkai laughed.

The next moment, Kagome felt herself falling to the ground. She closed her eyes, bracing herself for the impact that was to come. But it never came. She felt herself wrapped in the arms of a man. No, a youkai.

Kagome was placed on the ground gently as a white flash approached her offender. The flash slowed, and eventually stopped, revealing a tall, inu-youkai.

He picked up the lesser youkai and slammed him against the tree. He raised his clawed hand slowly, and looked at the trembling youkai with intense golden eyes. Intense, yet no distinctive emotion. Kagome winced as he brought it down upon her kidnapper and closed her eyes tightly.

When she opened them, she saw him tossing the lifeless body deep and far into the forest.

"Sesshomaru..." she said, making him turn around to face her. He walked forward and kneeled down beside her, holding her chin tenderly with one finger.

"Are you injured?" he asked, looking her over carefully.

"No, I'm fine now," Kagome answered, allowing him to search every part of her body. "But you're late." Kagome gave him a teasing smile, causing him to stop his attentions and look at her with one brow raised high.

Kagome wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her nose in his shoulder, careful not to hurt herself with his armor. Sesshomaru brought his arms around her small frame silently, secretly thanking the Lord that she was not hurt.

Suddenly, Kagome sighed and pulled away from him.

"So why were you late?" she asked.

"There are many things to attend to at the palace. It has been exceedingly busy lately. Particularly because of this war, things have become less and less organized."

"Hm... I see."

Sesshomaru pulled out a small dagger, handing it to Kagome. "I believe this is yours." Kagome took the knife and returned it to the sheath on her leg. "Next time, do not take matters into your own hands. It's dangerous."

Kagome pouted indignantly. "Then what am I supposed to do? Just let him take me without a fight? That just makes things easier for him! I can take care of myself, Sesshomaru!"

Sesshomaru held her in his arms, whispering into her ear. "No, Kagome. You don't need to. I am more than capable of protecting you." Kagome fought the urge to scream out at him again, instead, sighing and sinking into the safety of his arms. She didn't agree with letting him protect her all the time, but she decided to let the matter go, finding it more pleasant to just spend their intended time together in peace.

The tai-youkai placed his lips on hers delicately, tangling his hand her hair. Kagome closed her eyes and lifted her small hands to his chest, permitting Sesshomaru to deepen the kiss.

The kiss quickly became rough and passionate, their tongues entwining themselves together in an avid dance.

Sesshomaru growled as Kagome moaned softly for him, her hands rising to caress his neck.

All too fast, their kiss ended, leaving the two breathless.

Kagome stood up, Sesshomaru following suit.

"I guess I should probably wash up now. Wouldn't want them to know where I've been!" Kagome smiled, walking over to the familiar hot spring, located just a little ways from their meeting place.

Kagome began undressing, facing the steaming pool of water. She stepped in slowly, testing the water's temperature. When she fully submerged herself in the spring, she let out a satisfied sigh. After a few seconds passed, she sat up and began to scrub herself clean.

But as she turned around, she saw Sesshomaru just sitting there, watching her.

She screamed, covering her exposed body. "Hentai! Don't look!" she screamed at him, making him smirk and turn away as if nothing had happened.

After her blush subsided, Kagome reluctantly continued cleaning her body, this time her back to him.

Sesshomaru laughed inwardly. Kagome was so much different from other girls. He didn't think he would ever be able to get over that fact. He was so fortunate to have such a girl by his side.

But then again, he wasn't so fortunate. He wanted to take her as his mate, but he knew he couldn't. Not now at least. Not while this war between their lands was still raging on. It would bring danger to her, and to any chance of having peace between the East and West.

Kagome waved her hand in front of his face.

"Sesshomaru, I'm ready. Sesshomaru?" she called him, struggling to gain his attention. Sesshomaru looked at her with golden eyes and blinked. He shook his head and stood up.

"Meet me here next week. I will be waiting," he told her.

Kagome nodded happily and bounded off for home, tuning her head to look back at his silent form. She smiled to herself and ran along towards her home at the Eastern palace.

The two dark figures in the trees watched as the girl began to walk away from Sesshomaru. They smiled and disappeared into the forest, heading for their destination. The Palace of the Moon.
