Sesshoumaru was walking in the gardens that were outside of his father's lands. He was not supposed to be out, but he just could not help himself. The trees, flowers, and the gently blowing crisp air called to him. Sesshoumaru was lonely on this day. Normally when such a feeling entered him he would talk to his father, but his father was out at a meeting over an alliance.

Soon there would come a time when Sesshoumaru was required to go to such meeting as well. For the moment though he did not have that responsibility. His responsibilities only dealt with learning how to fight and becoming educated. The calming atmosphere made him happy, and he began to whistle a tune.

He walked around for about three hours before he found a spot that he found suitable to sit in. There were purple, blue, and silver flowers scattered about all about the size of his hands. It was a glade enclosed by trees that were older than Sesshoumaru's father. He sat down in the middle of the glade and began to think.

He could smell the flowers; they calmed him so much that he fell asleep. He was having a weird dream. He was frolicking through the flowers when suddenly he stopped. As he turned and looked at the flowers they all became frozen. Everywhere he walked became iced over. Sesshoumaru awoke with a jolt when he heard a crash next to him.

"Prince of the Western Lands, far from home. What a prize for me to see. Keio get him and bring him here," a human demanded.

Forward stepped a demon with wavy purple hair that went down to his mid back. His eyes were a broken silver. Sesshoumaru knew right away why the demon obeyed. He had heard tales of demons being taken as pups, and tortured until they became compliant. From the looks of him, Keio had gotten it bad, really bad.

Keio kept his head bowed that was how broken he was. Sesshoumaru only saw Keio's eyes because he was looking up. Keio bent down and picked him up. Before Sesshoumaru could struggle he heard the human speak, "I wouldn't try to run away. I have several more demons that would not dare defy me."

He spoke the truth. The smell of demons full of terror and submission surrounded him. What a despicable thing! It was the worst smell that he had ever smelled in his short life. Heavy chains were place on him and they sucked the very energy from him. "Special, they are, they will absorb the youki energy of the wearer. Do you like them?" the human asked. His stench covered everything that he could smell.

Sesshoumaru did not answer. He did not want to satisfy the man with an answer. "I have the perfect place for you. We have ourselves another pleasure slave boys," The man said.

Several of the other demons looked at him sadly. Sesshoumaru could handle the chains; he could have handled being a normal slave. What he could not handle was being used for pleasure. He let a bellowing howl. The demons knew what that howl meant, and they were glad.

They knew that he would get free. His mother would come and free him. Sadly, they would most likely be forced to fight. None of the demons wanted the pain that the man would cause. He had a pendant that would send formless flame through their bodies. They all hated it, but there was nothing that they could do about it.

The human did not know what the howl was for. He had never before heard it's equal. The reason for this might have been that no other demon he had caught had still been young enough for the mother to come. Lucky for Sesshoumaru he had not reached that age yet.

The human made them continue on, driving them to move as fast and far as he could. A half hour later there stood a demoness in the road. She was in her true form. She growled at the human as he commanded, "Kill her bring down the bitch!"

The demons had no choice but to obey. They had collars around their necks that would start to choke them if they did not. Yes, the human was smart, but he did not have instincts. They all attacked her some going for the legs and others for the belly. Their hearts cried out in hatred as they had to kill the Lady of The West.

Sesshoumaru's mother fought hard and strong. She received several slashes from the demons, but none from the worthless human wretch. She had stepped on four demons that wished to rather die than fight. She cut nine into pieces of meat. She swallowed six hole, and at last she bit the human's head off.

There remained only one demon that had once been under the control of the human, Keio. He was now whimpering, and lowering his tail between his legs he even got down on all fours. He wished to be spared, he had fought as little as possible, but he did not expect any mercy.

So it came as a shock when she rushed over to Sesshoumaru and started licking his face. She tried to get the chains off of him but was unable. Keio saw this and grabbed the keys and unlocked the chains. Sesshoumaru's mother collapsed and she continued to bleed. Keio knew, as did Sesshoumaru, that she was going to die. Sesshoumaru did not accept this he cried, "Mother you can not leave!"

She held him close saying, "I am glad that you are alright. I can not hold on much longer; soon I will have to go."

Sesshoumaru's white clothing became ruined with her blood. She lost her true form and turned back to her weaker humanoid form. She was smiling and stroking Sesshoumaru's hair when a single tears slid down her cheek; then she was no longer amongst the living.

A great powerful and mournful cry pierced the night air. This cry was not made by his beast, nor by his brain. It was made from his heart that was dieing from the inside. His mother had left him. This was the second time that this had happened, but he knew this time she was gone for good.

"I wish to offer my services to you mi lord. It is, in part, my fault she is dead and I wish to be your servant for it," Keio said with his head bowed low to the floor.

Sesshoumaru smelt a scent that had been before blocked because of Keio's servitude to the human scum. Keio had a mate and two young pups. Sesshoumaru's heart might be dieing, but he could not cause someone else such suffering. "No, your mate and pups need you more than I. Go attend to their needs and you will be forgiven. You had no other choice."

Keio just stood there in shock, never before had he received such kindness. Sesshoumaru bent down picked up his mother's body and turned into a glowing ball. The ball was zooming by and was lost to Keio's sight in seconds. Keio could still see the wet mark on the ground that smelled of Sesshoumaru and salt water.
