Chapter One

Sesshoumaru awoke slowly, it was a rare occasion on which he actually did sleep but his body must've needed to catch up. His arm wrapped tightly around the girl beneath him, it was amazing, no one compared to her. Of all the demonesses he'd bedded, they all fell short. To think a human Miko aroused him so, was hilarious. The young girl stirred beside him, then falling back into a somewhat gentle sleep. He wondered what she was dreaming about, his thoughts then wandered over to his moron of a half brother. The very thought of the hanyou being near her made his blood boil, his arm tightened instinctively and she was pulled flush against him. The foolish hanyou thought of her as superfluous, his 'shard detector', he called her. Well Kagome was no longer Inu-Yasha's, in any sense of the word.

It had all changed when Inu had said something to cause her to flee the safety of the group and into the forest, this is where he had found her. She was on the ground crying and shaking badly when he had arrived, Sesshoumaru had recently come to terms with the fact that he felt for the human, so when he saw her distress his curiosity was piqued. As well as his beast raging for him to kill Inu-Yasha for whatever atrocity he had committed against what was his. He had knelt down by her, placing a strong hand on her shoulder. She'd jumped at that slightest touch like it had burned her. Her tongue was sharp and quick when she saw who he was, what she said was inconsequential, it mattered not for he saw right through it. Before long she had burst into tears and flung herself into his arm, burying her head in his muscled chest. At first he stiffened but then embraced her, not caring his kimono would become tear-stained, he let her cry, she needed it.

After a while he had asked her what was wrong, but she wouldn't say a world, which only infuriated him all the more. He had grabbed her arm purely out of need to show her how much she pissed him off. What he didn't expect was for her to recoil away drastically and a couple of tears to slide down her face. He released her arm and gently stroked her cheek with the back of his hand. So small it was almost inaudible a tiny moan graced her lips, but he heard it nonetheless. He smiled a wicked smile as he took her lips in his own fiercely and once he had finished, his little Miko was extraordinarily dizzy. One thing led to another and they had screwed in that clearing, it was their first of many trysts to come, and they had been going on for a month now. At first she was very hesitant, not only in their lovemaking but around him in general. Eventually she had come to look forward to their every meeting, and when he told it was time to leave so she wouldn't be missed; every time he could hear in her voice how very much she did not want to leave. He was getting more and more reluctant to let her leave too. Inu had to be getting suspicious, and Sesshoumaru knew for a fact, he would go ballistic the second Inu-Yasha found out the truth, why she had been so tired lately and where she disappeared to at night.

He suddenly sensed that Kagome was awake, he heard her heart quicken to an alarming pace. He also smelled the salt of tears that had started to run down her cheeks. She sat up suddenly, nothing covering her body at all, and not caring about it. She hugged her knees to her chest and rocked back and forth slightly.

"What's wrong my little Miko?" He asks as he places a hand on her shoulder, she was shaking violently too.

"Nothing, nothing's wrong at all." Kagome lied, smiling up at him sweetly, or tried to smile sweetly, it came across more desolate than anything.

Sesshoumaru just gave her look showing he was not pleased she was lying to him and that he didnt' buy it in the least.

"What's wrong with you tonight, you haven't been yourself all night, you've done everything I ask without question, which is not you." He states simply, searching her eyes for the cause of her distress.

"What happens if Inu-Yasha finds out? What would happen to me? What would he do? And I mean today he was just suspicious and, Oh Kami." She says worriedly as tears continue to stream down her cheeks.

"Kagome." He says voice pitched in a low husky whisper.

This immediately got her attention, he almost never called her name, she turned her head up to look at him, dark blue orbs looking weary beneath raven lashes.

"Do you trust me?"

"Of course."

"I will never let that hanyou touch you, you understand, he won't be able to harm you, I will kill him before he can even think about it. Now what happened today? What did he do?" He asks looking seriously into her eyes.

"Well...today we were walking and all of the sudden Inu-Yasha started acting really really weird. He started saying all these things about me and he said 'At least Kikyou wasn't a whore.' And it really really hurt me you know? I'm used to being compared to her but I'm not a whore, I'm not." She whispers as some more tears fall down her cheeks and she starts to speak again. "But he grabbed me, really hard, and Sango, Miroku, and Shippo had to make him let me go."

"Where, I saw nothing."

"Well your eyes were a bit clouded." She laughs off but after getting a look, she pushes her hair back to reveal black, blue, and purple bruising around her throat.

"The dog."

"Don't worry, I'm fine." She says as she looks down as she begins to shake.

"You won't be fine if he gets a hold of you again. If his beast thinks your a threat then your as good as dead!" He says slightly raising his voice to emphasize his point. But when he sees all the color drain from her face he hugs her to his chest. "I just don't wanna loose you, especially to that hanyou. I'm going to be watching you from now on, and if he starts acting like he's going to kill you, just call for me. I'll be there before he can lay a finger on you." He says as he kisses her on the forehead. "It's time for you to go back now." He watches as her face turns down. "I know, but you'll be okay, don't worry, I'll keep you safe." He says and with demonic speed he is up and dressed in his Kimono while she gets ready slowly.

Kagome snuck into camp and into her sleeping bag, a smile on her lips as she fell asleep, she was waiting to see what unfolded that day, and for the time when her lover called to her once more.

A.N. Okay there's the first chapter, I know it's kind of short and crappy but let me know what you think.
