To Begin Again

Welcome, I'll be you're your writer tonight, my name is little.red, may I offer you the special of the Sesshomaru and Kagome combo with a side salad of misery topped with mystery, a glass of drama with 7% blood, and of course, the desert of love with a topping of lemon sauce.

Well, if that didn't earn me a review I'm hoping this first chapter will.

Anyway, Inuyasha and all affiliated characters are not mine, but the plot in which I have borrowed them to partake in is, so please enjoy.

Red lights flickered above, making it hard to distinguish anything and giving the whole place an eerie feeling. Richard sighed to himself and wondered why the hell anyone would feel the need to have the back-up lights coloured red in the first place before he continued forward.

The shutdown had probably just been one of the testing animals escaping from its cage yet again, but it was his job to check on everything and with the amount they paid him, the head of security, to make sure nothing got out or in he wasn't about to do nothing.

Still, the red lights were annoying and Richard was finding it hard to see anything with the way they flickered and coated everything in a red haze. Sighing to himself, and cursing whatever rat or dog that had gotten lose in one of the many labs at Shikon Inc. Richard continued forward, hand on his gun holster just in case.

Richard cursed loudly when he slipped on something and landed hard on his backside, wishing that the cement wasn't concrete. When Richard felt something wet soaking into his shirt he looked down at himself and frowned, seeing nothing but a faint outline of a watery puddle because of the red light. He brought his hand to his nose and sniffed, instantly recoiling at the metallic and coppery scent, suddenly thankful that the red light covered the sight of what he now knew to be blood.

Richard scampered to his feet and stared at what was before him. A woman, with long black hair hanging limply around her thin, pale body was staring at him. When she took a step forward Richard suddenly remembered the blood he was standing in and he panicked.

He fumbled with his holster before pulling out his gun and aiming it at the woman who stood still before him, naked, bathed only in the red light that made her seem like some demonic creature straight out of nightmares. Before Richard even had a chance to pull the trigger he felt something itch at his stomach and a sticky wetness following it.

When he looked down at the clawed hand sticky out of his abdomen Richard had a few seconds to be dumbfounded before the pain finally came to him and he let out a strangled gasp before the world ended.

Dimly, as he hit the ground with a hollow thump and took his last, quivering breath, Richard could hear the hysterical laughter of a woman and for reasons unknown to himself he felt his heart go out to her before he was swept away from life into nothingness and beyond.

The red-eyed inu youkai flicked the human's blood from his fingers before swiftly making his way over to his mate who was laughing hysterically as tears streamed own her face. The instant he drew near her she launched her small body at him and clung onto him for dear life, whispering over and over the same two words : "It's over."

But they both knew that it had only just begun.
