Chapter One
30 Shades of Love – Her
01. Rain
She loves dancing in the rain and even invites him to join her, but he declines and tells her to come inside or else she will catch a cold; always the sensible one, Sesshoumaru.
02. Air
He is something new and foreign to her, a breath of fresh air.
03. Winter
He looks confused when she tells him that winter is her favorite season and she simply smiles; she’ll never tell him this, but she really only likes winter because it gives her a chance to snuggle closer to him in bed at night, not that she needed an excuse.
04. Earth
He smells like the earth to her, clean, fresh, and untainted; she finds herself spending more and more time outdoors just to breathe in the spicy scent of nature, his scent.
05. Fall
How the mighty have fallen, she thinks, watching him cook dinner the day she trips down the stairs and fractures her wrist; he looks so determined, his eyebrows knitted in frustration as he attempts to cook her an omelet.
06. Sacrifice
She would die for him.
07. Mirror
He is the first one to point out all the differences between her and Kikyo, and the more Kagome thinks about it, the more she realizes he’s right; she and Kikyo are as different as night and day.
08. Unfair
For the first time in her life, Kagome wishes for immortality, not because she does not want to die, but because she feels that it will be unfair to leave Sesshoumaru all alone when she is gone.
09. Destiny
They are soulmates, Kagome realizes, there’s no other explanation; how else could the two of them be so perfect for each other?
10. Forever
“Forever is a long time to spend with one person,” Kagome tells him, “but it I had to choose, it would always be you.”
11. Missing
In the winter, he goes off to war and disappears for three months; when he finally returns, Kagome envelops him in a tight hug and vows to never again let him go, a promise to which he agrees.
12. Butterfly
Before she came into his life, he was trapped in a cocoon; but now that she is here, he can finally break free and spread his wings to fly.
13. Lucky
Kagome does not believe in luck, saying instead that hard work and determination are the true keys to success; however, standing proudly beside him as he introduces her to the rest of the lords as his mate, Kagome knows she is the luckiest woman alive.
14. Family
In giving up her life in modern day Japan to stay in the feudal era with him, Kagome learns that she has lost one family only to gain another; a new family with him.
15. Whole
Kagome learns that true love is when that empty void in your life, the void you didn’t even know was there, suddenly becomes filled.
16. Purpose
No longer does she live just for collecting shards and destroying Naraku; now, she lives for him.
17. Despair
Kagome listens to stories of his difficult childhood and weeps for him because she knows she may very well be the only person in the entire world who ever will.
18. Human
He may be a demon, but his heart is still fragile, just like the heart of a human.
19. Feel
Her feelings for him are so profound, so unfathomable, that sometimes they scare even her.
20. Alive
Standing beside him on his cloud as they soar through the air, Kagome feels more alive than she has felt in a long long time.
21. Peace
After a long day of shard hunting, she returns home and is immediately swept into his strong arms; his warm embrace is enough to make her forget all of her troubles and for the first time in her life, she is at peace.
22. Sleep
He rarely sleeps, Kagome notices, but when he does, he reminds her of a fallen angel, beautiful, vulnerable, and strong.
23. Father
Sesshoumaru is the ideal father, strict, disciplined, yet kind and benevolent at the same time, exactly the type of man Kagome wants to take care of her children.
24. Unworthy
She believes that a human like her does not deserve a god like him, and the feelings of unworthiness threaten to consume her, feelings that he always washes away with his passionate touches and soft kisses.
25. Kiss
Every time he kisses her she falls head over heels in love again.
26. Touch
Sesshoumaru is a man of contradictions, Kagome concludes; his cold detached demeanor is nothing compared to his touches, oh, his touches that light her skin and soul on fire.
27. Eyes
She loves his eyes, how they burn in passion, how they soften in love, how they harden in anger, how they twinkle in happiness; above all that, she loves how his eyes reveal more of him to her than he will ever willingly reveal.
28. Secret
There are things she has never told him and will never tell him because sometimes actions speak louder than words.
29. Thankful
Kagome is thankful for a lot of things, her family, her friends, life itself, but most of all, Kagome is thankful for Sesshoumaru.
30. End
Kagome is mortal, a fact neither she nor Sesshoumaru can change, but she is okay with that for she knows she will have lifetimes after this one with which to love him; after all, she is living proof that reincarnation is possible.
