She sighed. It was time to go inside for the night, but she could not draw away from the sight of the leaves dropping out of the trees in the garden. The autumn sky called out to her, wrapping her in its chilling beauty.

Once upon a time, she had concerned herself a spring person. She liked to watch the flowers bloom. She liked to watch the animals come out of their hiding places and dance around in cheery, green grass.

The spring was when she had found Inuyasha. Gently, she smiled into the fading light.

But now... she loved the fall.

She heard her companion shift slightly, causing the wooden porch to creak beneath his weight. Chancing a look over her shoulder, she caught him staring at her again. She loved it when he did that. He made her feel like the only person on the face of the planet.

Sesshoumaru was like winter.

He caught her hand in his grasp and ran his thumb over the soft skin. His hands were cold. His kiss was cold. He could be calm like a first snow, or he could be harsh like a midnight ice storm.

He was just like winter.

She had fallen through the well to this new era in the fall. So, autumn had given her Sesshoumaru, in a sense.

Noticing a few more falling leaves, she smiled and snuggled into his side to keep out the cold. Yes, she loved autumn... because it brought the winter.
