Meeting You

This has been rotting on my computer for ages as one big oneshot (with all of the chapters together). I thought it was about time to dig it out (with encouragement from Omizumaru - Lobe you!)

I plan to stretch this out a bit, so there may be gaps between posts. It's only half way complete on my compy so I have no idea how long it will take, haha.

If you like it let me know and I'll keep going. This was one big experiment to start with!

"I can't wear this! It's hideous!"

"Didn't I ever tell you green wasn't my color?"

"This is WAY too long!"

Kagome Higurashi tried to shut all of the bickering out. Being an assistant at one of the biggest fashion houses in the country wasn't all it was cracked up to be. For the past four hours she had heard nothing but bickering from the new 'it' model, Ayame. No last name, just Ayame. Kagome wondered how the hell this girl had made it to the top with that attitude. She had a horrible reputation for partying all night, never taking care of her skin, and abusing poor little assistants like she was.

She did her best to steer clear of the spit fire unless absolutely necessary.

Shockingly, Ayame's boyfriend was really nice. Kagome had taken an instant liking to Kouga. He had a wonderful personality and would goof off with her when he accompanied his girlfriend to the studio. Of course, Ayame flew off the handle, threw a cell phone at her (which hit her directly in the forehead leaving a nasty bruise), and her new friendship was over.

"Hey, bitch! Get over here and help me get out of this horrid dress!" Kagome was shocked out of her daydreams by Ayame's shrill voice. "Don't just sit there, help me! I can have you fired for this!"

Grumbling, Kagome got up and began to help the violent model with the zipper of the dress. It was the designer's newest, but even Kagome agreed that it was horrible. Taking the dress from a now nude model, she carried it back over to the rack and carefully hung it on one of the many wooden hangers then covered it with a garment bag. Checking her watch, she walked over go Jakotsu, the lead designer of the fashion house. "Is it alright if I leave a little early?" she asked tentatively.

Jakotsu shook his head violently. "No, no, no! You must meet the star of our big show for Fashion Week! You will love him!" He winked at her. "He's quite the piece of man meat!" He clapped his hands. "Ayame! You were wonderful today. See you tomorrow?"

Ayame, now clothed, walked up to him and gave him a friendly peck on the cheek. "Of course, darling!"

Kagome breathed a sigh of relief when she finally left the room.

Finally getting a little down time, she walked over to the mini fridge and pulled out a can of Tab and a sandwich. "Why do you insist on having her in the show?"

Jakotsu laughed. "She's the new 'it' girl for fashion! She may be a royal bitch, but she looks great in my designs." He crept up behind her and stole the can of soda and took a drink before giving it back. "Wait until you see the male star. He's yummy!"

She just shook her head before sitting down and enjoying her snack.

Roughly twenty minutes later, the door opened again, and in walked one of the most beautiful male models she had ever seen. He was the perfect height, slender but with a nice muscle tone, silver hair that fell to the middle of his back, and shocking golden eyes. And he was headed right for her.

"Have you seen Jakotsu?" the beautiful male asked.

Kagome had to stop herself from stuttering. "He's in his office. I'll go get him." Scrambling up from her chair she swiftly walked back towards the designers office and popped her head in the door. "Your man meat is here," she said teasingly.

"Wonderful!" He shot out of the chair and out of the office, she quietly followed him.

A few steps behind her boss, she watched as he embraced the man. "Sesshoumaru, baby! I'm so glad you could make it!"

Sesshoumaru scoffed. "I had to turn down another job to do this," he said coldly. "I know there is more publicity for me if I do this for you. This better not flop like the last collection."

Jakotsu violently shook his head. "Nonsense!! This will be the best yet!" He turned to her. "Kagome, come meet my star!" She walked over and stood next to the ecstatic designer. "Darling, this is Sesshoumaru. He's the hottest male model out there right now. Sesshoumaru, this is Kagome, my dear assistant."

The two shook hands and exchanged pleasantries, though Kagome thought it looked too forced on Sesshoumaru's part. She turned to Jakotsu. "Where is the rack with his clothes?" He pointed to a rack next to his office door and she went to retrieve it.

"She is going to be in charge of your fitting, alright baby?" Jakotsu asked the taller man.

Sesshoumaru just shrugged his shoulders and nodded in agreement.

"Fabulous. You will be in capable hands. Kagome has been with me for three years and knows everything that I look for!" He turned to find Kagome wrestling with the clothing rack that didn't want to roll. "Excuse me a moment!" Jakotsu scrambled over to where Kagome was waging battle with the rack.

"Capable hands," Sesshoumaru snorted, as he watched the designer help his assistant with the wheels on the rack, that she had neglected to unlock.

"Sorry about that!" Jakotsu walked back over, Kagome behind him with the rack now coming with no protests. "Everything is in working order now!" He turned to Kagome. "I'll be in my office if you need me. I think I have the perfect design for this man!"

Kagome watched him scamper back to his office before turning to the other man in the room. "I'm ready when you are."

She couldn't help herself when he started to take off the button down shirt and slacks he was wearing; she gawked. She never gawked at models, but this one... His skin was perfect, he wasn't too lanky like most male runway models, and he had the strangest tattoos on his hips. Stripes. Magenta stripes. For her, that just added to his sex appeal. She had the strange urge to run her tongue down those stripes.

Shuffling through the clothes on the rack, she pulled out a pair of distressed jeans and passed them to him. This was going to be a long afternoon.

-----

Sesshoumaru looked down at the girl on her knees in front of him. Right in front of his crotch, fiddling with the inseam of the bell bottoms he was wearing.

He had been through many many fittings in his career so far, but there was something about this young assistant. She wasn't very attractive, she was clumsy, and had a goofy sense of humor. Yet there was something about her that he couldn't place....something about her he just liked. Maybe it was her smile, or her corny joking around, the way her hair was put up in a messy bun held in place by a pencil, he didn't know.

Even as clumsy as she tended to be, she was doing an excellent job working with the clothes, pinning and laying the fabric just right so it would look perfect on him once it was finished; it was something that greatly pleased him. She was very thorough in her work. He continued to observe her while he dressed, watching her put all of the clothing back on the rack . Everything was done almost methodically, everything hanging just right, all in the same direction, in order by design number, and covered with a garment bag.

He nonchalantly admired the way her skirt inched up and exposed her thighs when she bent down to tie one of the garment bags.

It was entirely too bad that he wasn't really into women.

-----

The entire time she was working with Sesshoumaru, she was mesmerized by his beauty. It was very rare for her to even consider a man like him as datable. She liked her men a little rough and rugged, like her on again off again boyfriend Inuyasha. But there was just something about this one...he didn't seem like he was one of the normal models she worked with. She sensed he was smarter than he appeared. And she liked men with a bit more substance.

While she was tying one of the garment bags, she felt his eyes on her.

Unable to take it anymore, she stood and turned to him. "Are you seeing anyone?" she asked, bluntly. Then turned beet red.

Without missing a beat, Sesshoumaru nodded. "Yes, I am seeing someone as a matter of fact." He left it at that, though he felt himself a bit saddened at her crestfallen expression.

"Ok." Kagome turned back to the rack and continued what she was doing.

While she was fixing the clothes on the rack, he dressed in his street clothes and went to the office to talk to Jakotsu. The designer was at his desk, pencil in hand, wildly sketching on the tablet in front of him.

When Jakotsu hadn't noticed him yet, Sesshoumaru cleared his throat.

"Oh, I'm sorry baby. I was getting a little too into my work!" He dropped the pencil and looked up at the model.

Sesshoumaru took a seat in one of the many chairs around the office. "Are you going to go to Calypso's tonight?" Calypso's was the newest club and bar in town, the hottest place to be on a Friday night. "Jaken and I are going to be there."

Jakotsu laughed. "Are you kidding? Bankotsu and I are always there on Friday nights! At least since The Jungle Club went down hill!"

Sesshoumaru stood. "I'll see you there, then." He swiftly walked out of the office, nearly side swiping Kagome on the way out.

Kagome stepped into the small office. "Is it alright if I go home now? Everything is cleaned up."

"Excuse me?" Jakotsu asked. "Monday you promised me you would go with me and Bankotsu to Calypso's, and you are going come hell or high water missy!" He ran around the desk and grabbed her hand. "And I've got the perfect dress for you!!" Running out of the office, Kagome in tow, he ran to the rack of his newest designs and shoved a dress at her. "Now go put it on! I made it with you in mind."

-----

Three hours later, Kagome stood in between Jakotsu and Bankotsu at Calypso's, wearing the tight green dress that was apparently crafted with her in mind. She was comfortable, though the hem was a little too high for her taste. It showed off a lot more leg than she was used to, and when paired with the six inch heels the dress looked even shorter. Jakotsu and Bankotsu's praise did make her feel a bit better about herself, but the nervousness was still there.

Kagome looked at herself in the full length mirror, wondering what the hell she was getting herself into.

"Doesn't she look good?" Jakotsu asked his partner. "Look at those legs!"

Bankotsu came up to her other side and ran his hand over her exposed thighs. "Legs that go on for miles! Every man at Calypso's is going to want these wrapped around them at the end of the night."

Blushing, Kagome shooed his hands away from her legs. "Are you sure I look alright in this?"

Jakotsu just laughed. "Believe me, doll, if I weren't so into men we would skip Calypso's entirely and go to my place for a night of debauchery! Now lets see what we can do about hair and makeup."

The three walked hand and hand to the back of the club and found a secluded table, where Jakotsu started pointing out different people to Kagome.

He pointed to a petite woman with a cigarette dangling from her mouth. "See that woman there, Kagome? That's Yura, the new designer at our rival house. She has a horrible reputation for being the party girl."

Bankotsu leaned over to her. "And a horrible reputation for bed hopping," he said wickedly.

"You didn't!" Kagome said, shocked.

Both Jakotsu and Bankotsu nodded, then laughed at the three colors Kagome's face turned.

"Am I interrupting anything?"

Kagome looked up at the newcomer, surprised to see Sesshoumaru and a shorter male standing in front of her. Could that be.....no way...

Sesshoumaru looked at Kagome, who was looking at the man standing beside him. "How rude of me. Kagome, this is my partner Jaken."

She shook hands with the man that couldn't be any taller than she was. "It's nice to meet you, Kagome. Sesshoumaru told me you did an excellent job today."

As talk of the industry started, Kagome faded into the background and just listened. Jakotsu was the queen of gossip, and if you wanted to know anything that was happening he was the man to go to. But when the conversation started turning to who's in and out in the industry, she excused herself from the table.

Quite disappointed that Sesshoumaru liked men, she headed towards the bar to get something, anything. Squeezing through the crowd, she flagged down the bartender and ordered a martini. She knew she would get ripped with only a few of those, and that was her goal right now.

Martini now happily in hand, she took a sip and sighed at the warmth of the alcohol. About to take another sip, she was pushed from behind, spilling her drink all over her dress.

"Oh, god, I'm so...Kagome?"

Kagome looked up at the culprit, ready to rip them a new one, when she realized it was Kouga. "Hey, Kouga!" she said, trying to shove her anger down. "What are you doing here?"

"Ayame and I decided to check the place out, and it's not too bad. Just not my type of night spot." He leaned over to the bar and grabbed a few napkins and shoved them into her hands. "Sorry about the dress."

Gently dabbing at the stain on the dress she shook her head. "It's no big deal. Jakotsu is going to murder me when he sees me though."

"Not if I murder you first!" Kagome's head shot up to see Ayame almost directly in front of her. "I thought we went through this the first time! Stay away from my boyfriend!"

"Now, Ayame," Kouga started, but she quickly cut him off.

"Don't start, how do I know you won't cheat on me with her? Huh? Like last time?" Her murderous glare went from Kouga back to Kagome. "I'll teach you to go whoring around with other people's boyfriends!"

When the model started coming towards her, Kagome didn't have time to think before she just swung. Not realizing what was happening until Ayame was on the ground and her fist hurt like hell, her eyes widened. She just gave the new 'it' model a shiner and possibly a broken nose. Turning away before Ayame had time to get up, Kagome ran out of Calypso's and onto the street.

She made it three blocks before she realized that Ayame wasn't coming after her, and that her coat and purse were still with Jakotsu. Not wanting to go back in there, she decided to make the cross town journey to where she and her room mate, Sango, lived. After this night was over, she was never wearing six inch heels again.
