The Blood Red Roses. by carleygrrl

One.

A lone black and brambled house stood on the hill, outside of the town of Villa Ridge. The house was dark, vines crawling and digging their roots into the foundation of the 30 year old house. Rose bushes planted around the sides of the house, the vines making the yard look difficult and very uncomfortable. A small blackened set of stairs led to the door and a rotted looking porch and swing, where a slim, black haired 29 year old woman, sat with her three year old son, playing with him on the swing. Her husband, a stocky blonde haired man of 35 looked at them from the feild where he was working and smiled wearily. They smiled back, as a country breeze brought in the smell of roses, fresh rain, and sun set.

A tall, toned slim girl looked out the window of the second story, staring at the sun set before her and sighing. Carley Harmon never got used to the country life. Too quiet and not enough people, not enough of her friends. She felt like her mother, Emily Harmon, and her father, Jason Harmon, dragged her out here as a punishment, when in reality she had done nothing wrong. She was just a teenager. A troubled and forsaken teenager. Carley scoffed and turned away from the window. The only one in this family she could really talk to, was her three year old brother, James. He just listened intently as she rambled on and never walked away. She loved babysitting him and always made time to play with him.

Her cell phone vibrated in her back pocket, bringing Carley out of her musings. She pulled it out and flipped it open smiling.

"Hola chicka!" She said happily into the phone knowing exactly who it was.

"Hey baby! Get on the internet, everyone wants to talk to you. Usual chat room, VRSA. Now scat cat." A soft melodious voice flowed through the mike making Carley smile even more.

"Out scout." She said as she clicked the phone shut and walked back into her room across the hall from the bay window on the second level. She pulled out her computer chair and sat down, logging on to her messenger. She quickly logged into the VRSA, Villa Ridge Sucks Ass, chatroom.

Carley laughed softly as she signed off of her computer and grabbed her purse and keys. She walked down the stairs but stopped at the landing on the first floor and glanced behind her and double-taked when she thought she saw someone behind her. She jumped back against the wall and tried to slow her racing heart. She took a deep breath and slowly tried to regain calm. She shook her head quickly and walked out the door, quickly yelling over her shoulder to her mother where she was going.

She walked over to her black '92 Pontiac Grand Am, and hopped into the front seat. Starting the ignition, she looked back up at the house and thought she saw a figure, staring back at her with blackened eyes. She clenched her eyes shut for a moment before looking again and seeing nothing. She mentally slapped herself for thinking there was someone there. Everyone was outside. Noone was there.

She mentally repeated this over and over and over again inside her head as she turned her iPod on suffle and "Misery Business," by Paramore turned on as she pulled out. She bobbed her head to the beat as she drove down the baren dirt country road. She turned onto a tar paved road and took it down about three or four miles till she reached the small town of Villa Ridge. She slid her car into the open slot at the deli and quickly check her make-up and hair in the rear-veiw mirror and smiled at the light make-up and soft waves in her hair.

Carley got out and smiled as she saw Gage standing against the old worn bricks of the deli mart. He stood alittle straighter and grinned waving at her. Gage was tall, almost six foot and blonde haired, toned, muscular, and very sweet. Carley had a crush on Gage since she got here about three years ago. He was taller than her by about five inches and she always loved his smile, his hugs, and his personality. She was drawn to him. About a year ago he finally asked her out and they've been happy ever since.

"Hey!" She said as she ran up and gave him a hug and a peck on the cheek.

"Sup baby?" He said kissing her on the lips, making Carley blush and smile at him.

"Hmm. Not much. Lets get food for the gang, shall we? Or do we need to go back in the car mister?" She said deviously, watching his smile grow into a grin.

"I was joking. Come on. We have time for that later." He pouted but followed her inside the store, his hand possesively on her lower back. She smiled. She loved to feel like he would do anything to protect her.

The two grabbed some junk food, about a dozen pizzas, and four cases of soda and beer. She smiled. She loved having her boyfriend being twenty- one.

They hauled all the crap into the back of her car and stood outside her for a few moments. "We're gonna be latee." She stated softly as she looked up at him, leaning against her car. He shrugged and smirked cockily as he pressed his lips against hers softly. Carley put her arms around his neck and pressed his head harder against her lips and bit down on his bottom lip, pulling away.

"Come on." She said as she pulled away from the amazing and very nice kiss and got in her car. Gage, his mouth was gaping open staring at her. She winked at him and licked her lips. He got the picture and grinned hopping into his 1969 Chevorlet Impala. 'Damn that boy is fine.' Carley thought smiling as she and Gage pulled out of the deli lot and down the tar road, turning after about three or four miles back on her road and into her drive way.
