Getting Better by LittleDragon

Fall

Kagome sniffled, then sneezed, sending the wad of tissues surrounding her on the bed on the floor. She blinked tired and scratchy eyes and sighed, wishing she could get up and play with her children.

Rin and Shippou were probably at school right now... and her little Myria was sleeping. So it wasn't like she would be able to play with them anyway... it was the fact that if they had been here... she couldn't because she was stuck in this stupid bed!

She let out another sneeze, grabbing an unused tissue to blow her nose. Rolling over on her side, she stared out the window as the breeze shook the colorful leaves off the tree... Oh man, that was definitely how she felt right now... spirelying into nothingness.

What was it about being sick that made a person who was generally very happy... melancholy. It was annoying.

"Sweetie?" Sesshomaru walked into the room, holding a tray that had a big class of orange juice, a huge steaming bowl of soup, and a napkin for any messes that she might make, (Which she usually did). He set the tray down on the night stand and sat down by her, placing a warm hand on her forehead.

"Your fever is going down, you should be fine as long as you get more sleep, and eat this soup that I made for you."

"Thank you... I just feel horrid... I wish we could just go outside and play in the leaves." she sighed and looked out the window again. He followed her line of vision and smiled softly, she was beautiful even when she was sick. How did she do it?

He helped her sit up, fluffing a few pillows behind her, and placed the tray in front of her.

"I'm sure you'll be able to go outside in no time, you just gotta get some rest.

"Rest Rest Rest, It's all I hear... Grrr... I'm so sick of lying down in the infernal bed! Phfftt..." grumbling under her breath, she shoved a big mouthful of soup in her mouth, humming softly as the broth relieved her throat.

"Oh this is wonderful, you out did your self again my love," she said on a sigh, looking up at him with adoring eyes.

"How's Myria?" she asked as she continued to eat, sipping the orange juice slowly.

"Oh, she's fast asleep, not stiring at all. She's such a good sleeper." he said softly, still watching the love of his life.

He hated it when she was sick. There was nothing he could do except help her sleep, and make being sick as comfortable as possible. She wasn't sick very often, but when she was, it was a doozy! He just wished there was something he could do... then it hit him.

A slow smile curled his lips as he stood up, leaning down to give her a kiss on her forehead.

"Where are you going?" she asked, looking up from an almost empty bowl.

"Oh, I'll be right back, do you want any more soup?"

"No... I'm just going to sip at the orange juice for a while, thank you."

He nodded and walked out the door, shutting it softly behind him. He knew something he could do to make her happy... Now where did he put that rake?

Kagome pushed the covers off and went into the bathroom, staring at her pale reflection. She looked like one of the porcelain dolls that her mom had always gotten for her when she was younger.

"Gah.." she turned around and grabbed the advil from off the counter, taking out 2, that would be good to take down her fever.

She hobbled back to her bed, sniffling all the way. Popping the pills into her mouth, she gulped them down with what was left of her orange juice.

She sat down on the bed and covered back up, letting out a groan. Her entire body ached. Glancing around the room, she let out another groan... after she was better, she definitely had to clean this room. There were empty glasses everywhere, along with tissues and tissue boxes.

Sesshomaru came back in, a grin on his face. She looked up and gave him a glorious smile.

"Where did you go?" she asked, looking at his pink cheeks. He had never blushed when she had first met him. But a lot of things had changed... all for the better.

"Oh, you'll see... but we have to get you in some warm clothes, it's a bit chilly out."

He rummaged through the drawers in their room, pulling out some flanel pants, and a big hooded sweat shirt for her to wear.

He lovingly helped her into her clothes, put her socks on for her, then her shoes, tying them up tight.

She began to stand up but he shook his head.

"I'll carry you, it's not that far." He scooped her up into his arms, twirling her about, then started for the front door.

She gave him a completely puzzled look. What was he doing? Then she realized, and a smile lit her face. Oh, he was the sweetest man on earth! She loved him so much!

In the middle of their yard, was a huge pile of leaves! He had raked them all up for her?

But that wasn't all, he started walking toward the pile, looking down at her with loving eyes, eyes that a few years ago, you could see nothing beyond the beautiful unmoving amber color. Oh yes, she was very lucky.

He turned around, giving her wicked look, them fell backward into the huge pile. Leaves fluffed up about them, onto their faces and clothes... everywhere. He sighed and cuddled her close...

"Is this anything close to what you had in mind?" he whispered softly into her ear.

"Oh, it is so much more. I love you Sesshomaru!" she wrapped her arms around him.

"You make being sick so easy my love... these are the days I live for." she sighed into his ear.

They stayed out there for a while... Kagome fell asleep in his arms... He stood and started walking back toward the house. He loved this woman with everything he had... he would make a thousand leaf piles just to see her smile. Fall into a thousand more just to hear her laugh.

She was truly his soul mate. And he liked it that way.
