Long Lost Souls by Anne-twilight

Chapter One

The wide sky arches above them and soft breezes blow. Inu Yasha and the others have always made their way through their camp.

"It's starting to get dark, let's stay here for the night." Inu Yasha said as he looked around for a perfect tree to stay for the night.

"Great!" Kagome suddenly cheered up.

"Huh? I thought you said that your tired. Why do you looked so energetic?" he said in confusion.

"Oh that . . . that's nothing . . . I'll sleep now. . .! Come here Shippou." the kitsune run in the open arms of Kagome . . .

- BLAH, BLAH, BLAH-

*same as ever*

Kagome had finally made her way through the woods. She had a hard time on escaping Inu Yasha because everytime she moved, comments will fly in the air. Minutes had passed, and the fight ended. At the end, the defeated hanyou let her go.

'Oh, crap. I'm absolutely late. I wish he's late too.' as she think of her last thought, she mentally slapped herself for thinking such things. She knows. Really, really, really knows that he will not going to broke his promise and never ever going to be late. EVER!

After 5 minutes of walking, she had finally arrived to her destination. She stood in the middle of the woods and began to count . . .

'One . . . two . . . three . . . four . . .' She closed her eyes, inhaled deeply.

'five!' without a second, she was pinned into the nearest tree.

Slowly, she opened her eyes and met the cold as seawater gaze of Sesshoumaru.

"You're 60 minutes late," she bravely said as she received a glare from him.

"I am sorry." he stated calmly and his grip in her waist tightened.

"I, Kagome, forgive you for your clumsiness . . . My dear Sesshoumaru." She threw her arms around his neck, knocking him backward.

...::: SLIP :::...

Sesshoumaru lost his balance and with a thud, the two of them are surely eating mud by now.

"I think I shound be the one who will gonna say the 'forgive' word." His voice was soft, his eyes looked kind with matching love in it. "Well, you said it. And . . . I really missed you stubborn and arrogant bastard." She said, her tone matter-of-factly.

"I do too." he stared at the crystalle blue eyes of Kagome. Then . . . Kagome looked up and . . . The bright-blue met the yellow-gold. It's like that the bright-blue sky met the yellow-gold sun. Isn't it lovely?

"I love you." she said softly yet seriously. Sesshoumaru slightly taken aback by it. Running a clawed hand to her down to her small face, he leaned forward and kiss her forehead before resting his head on her shoulder.

"I do too." he watched the expression of Kagome changed. "Is that all you could say?" she said in an irritationaly form of voice. She was getting pissed by Sesshoumaru. She almost said that she can risk her little life just to save him . . . And he only says that 'I do too.' !!!

"itoshii . . . You know that when I said a word it means the exact word that I said." Sesshoumaru stared blankly at the moon above them, and returning again his full attention to Kagome."

"I know. . . Just don't want to be alone and lonely again." She sighed at the memory of Inu Yasha. Her first love. In a flash, the memories of their journey flooded back in her mind. Sesshoumaru growled, the rough sound draw her attention back to earth. He grolwed again, as if he can read minds of a person, one at a time.

"Don't think of him. You just travel with him because of the Jewel of four souls. Nothing. More." he growled cautionaly. Kagome leaned her head in Sesshoumaru's chest and inhaled deeply.

"I think someone's jealous . . . I think someone's jealous . . . " she sang over and over again until Sesshoumaru's patience is over.

"Shut. Up. Or. I am going to kill you." he carefully said every syllable of each word for her to understand the hint of his voice. Unfortunately for him, she didn't catch the message.

"Why-oh-why? Are you the one I was talking about?" she grinned when she heard a possessive growl rumbled in his chest, finding itself out through his lips and she felt his eyes flash to red at a moment.

He sighed heavily. "Fine. I was slightly jealous of my foolish brother because he was your first love. Your first damned love." he caught her jaw by his left clawed hand and lift her head slightly to looked in her stormy eyes.

"I love you, Kagome. That word will stay forever. Until the end of my life, you will be my one and only love. And if that day comes, I promise that I will be there to guard you. Every minute, every second . . . We are meant to be, Kagome. No one can separate us. No one." he stated. His face was expressionless but his eyes that formerly cold, has fulled with love and trust.

A tear suddenly fell down her cheek, and he brushed it away.

"Please don't cry." his voice was serious, and he leaned down and place another kiss on her forehead. He nuzzled her hair with his nose, bringing one of those soft giggles from her.

"I'm just so happy. It's so . . . touching. It had touched my very soul." the last word is said with a sad smile. He kept all of her emotions under control, but when he'd started to stare at her eyes. His control will disappeared. He embrace her more.

"I will do that too. What ever happens, I will always be here when you needed me . . . love and care for you. You taked my hand and my whole life too . . . And I just can't help falling in-love with you. . . I love you. Forever and ever. My love, my mate." Leaning down, he placed a kiss on her lips.
