Hello everyone! I am pleased to announce my latest story, "A Sweet Summer's Day." This is part three of "Walking in a Winter Wonderland" and "Valentine's Day Surprise." However, instead of this being a one-shot, I have decided to let this be a full-blown fic!

That's right; this is going to be a full-blown fic!

So if any of you have any recommendations or ideas, please feel free and do not hesitate to contact me with them!

So, here you go! Enjoy, everyone!

Chapter One: Reflections

It had been a few months since Valentine's Day. That was the last time she saw him; their conversation still ringing fresh in her mind. A blush swept across her cheeks at the thought of the silver-haired male perfection, and she brought a hand to rest over her quickly beating heart.

"You better not be getting sick, Kagome." Came the gruff complaint from her hanyou friend. "We have shards to find, and we already lost four days because of your lolly-gagging!"

Kagome gave a sigh, and Shippo moved from Miroku's shoulder to hers. Kagome had taken Shippo once again to her time, as she had promised, telling InuYasha that she had a final exam to take. What she failed to tell her brash friend was that the final exam was a class party, and she and her friends took Shippo to the beach for a day and to the park for another. Taking him out in public was a lot easier when he transformed into a human, and when she told her friends she adopted a son they took it very well, along with their roles as Aunties.

However, they had come back yesterday to the nagging mouth of their puppy friend, and all his complaining had brought their happy vacation to an abrupt end.

Kagome, however sidetracked in her thoughts, was not incapable of muttering a 'sit'. As the group of friends tracked on, Shippo snickered at the red-clad hanyou. "You're never going to understand." He mumbled.

Kilala meowed agreement from Sango's arms. "He's not the only one." Came the warning tone from the Taijiya.

Miroku gave a nervous laugh as he returned his hand to his side and carried on as if nothing had happened.

"Adults." Shippo muttered, who was now walking next to his adopted mother.

"Men." Kagome and Sango uttered in unison.

Shippo silently made a vow to make sure to never ask the two males with him for advice on any subject. Aside from that, being the observant child he was, his mother's behavior had not gone unnoticed. For awhile now, she had been blushing more and smiling as she stared off into the distance. She couldn't have fallen in love with Inu-baka again, could she? Shippo decided that he would have to watch her. He was still unaware as to what happened while he slept on his first visit to his mother's time.

Later on in the day, around mid-afternoon, the group came across a lake. After walking all day under the hot summer's sun, and even with Kagome's umbrellas for shade, the cool water was greeted with hungry eyes. Even InuYasha didn't open his mouth to protest, which was a miracle in itself. So given the opportunity to stop for a refreshing break, the group moved of the dirt road of Sengoku Jidai and set up camp.

They spread out around the shade of the green trees around the lake, feeling the drop in temperature as they moved out of the bright solar rays. Shippo began to play with the squirrels that would scamper around as he collected acorns and berries. Kagome took out the sandwiches and roll that her mother had packed for her and her friends. After letting the beverages cool in the shores of the lake, she handed Shippo a juice box and the others a bottle of water and a can of soda each. Afterwards, Miroku and InuYasha went for a quick dip in the lake while Sango and Kagome cleaned up the remains lunch. Kagome and Sango shared a smile as they made their way to the temptingly cool waters with Shippo and Kilala beside them.

"Kagome?" Sango's curious voice sang out.

"Got it." The young Miko answered, holding up the pink one-piece bathing suit that she had bough for her best friend a while back. Sango took it happily; glad that if a certain perverted houshi were to surprise them, she would be clothed. The Taijiya stood and went behind a tree to change. Kagome, in turn, put on her dark blue two piece bathing suit. Shippo and Kilala were already splashing around as they enjoyed the cool water on their bodies after a hot, muggy day of traveling. Sango quickly joined them, and Kagome all but dove in.

Sango raised her arms to shield herself as she was splashed. "Kagome! You're going to pay for that!"

"Only if you can reach me!" Kagome called out, swimming with expertise farther out. Very few people in Sengoku Jidai could swim, and while she had been helping Sango, she wasn't very comfortable with deep water.

"Kagome, don't go out too far! There might be youkai farther down." Sango warned, but knew that Kagome could handle herself – she couldn't help worrying over her sister figure.

"Don't worry." She answered the Taijiya. Kagome ducked under the surface, smiling at the fish as they swam away from her intrusion. She spun around and flipped beneath the water's surface, before rocketing through the surface and laughing. She felt like a child again; free to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. She moved to float on her back, her ebony locks floating around her and licking at her skin. She closed her eyes, her body still as she completely relaxed, letting the water wash over her.

However, that peace only lasted a few minutes, for she was pulled into two strong arms that wrapped around her waist and shoulders, before she was lifted out of the water and pulled flush against a muscled chest, the land passing boy in a blur to her eyes. All she could make out was white.

"Oka-san!" Shippo's voice rang out.

"Kagome!" Sango added.

A few moments later and InuYasha and Miroku burst through the trees. "What's going on?" InuYasha asked. "Where's Kagome?"

"Your brother came out of no where and took her!" Sango added worriedly, grabbing the Hiraikotsu and slipping into her outfit.

"WHAT?!"

Oushikuso... that's only three pages... why did I want to stop there again? A teaser? I can't remember... but that is really short...

Will you all let me know what you think? Maybe I can just re-edit this into a one-shot, but I have some amazing ideas...

So please get back to me on your thoughts. I love you all!
