The Truth Always Hurts by Sayuri-chan

Chapter One

Kagome woke up in a bed of silk sheets as her depression wears on. Everyday she wonders why her life isn't the way it's supposed to be. 'I should be happy with Inuyasha and have a bunch of kids and just be blissfully happy.' That didn't happen.

~ Flashback (2 years ago) ~

As Kagome waited patiently, as Inuyasha did, in the doctor's office awaiting the results for her pregnancy test. She was so excited that she was almost jumping out of her chair. Inuyasha had a calm façade, but was battling his beast because both of them were eager to hear the news.

The doctor came in, and because they both had close ties to the doctor, Sango Houshi, who was their friends since high school. As Sango walked in, she had a grim expression. As she sat down in her well lavished personal office to try and break the news to the apparently happy couple, she started to stare at a picture adorning her polished, cherry-wood desk. It was the picture of her late husband Miroku. He had died three months ago and left her with four beautiful children, one expecting to come in a couple of months.

Sango wanted to break the news to her friends but they way Kagome looked and the inner struggle of excitement of Inuyasha, she almost thought she couldn't do it. She asked the Kami's to bless her and she started. "I'm sorry to say that--- Kagome can not become pregnant because she is barren."

The news was hitting Inuyasha hard. His hanyou ears flattened against the back of his skull. He looked severely disappointed. After the news, Sango wished to speak to Kagome in private.

She said not to tell Inuyasha what she is about to tell her. When she finished, Kagome was so happy. It wasn't her fault after all.

~Flashback (end) ~

Kagome sped through the morning. Her body was there just her mind was lost in the past. She wished her past could have been differently. It would have saved her a lot of misery. After that one talk with Sango, Inuyasha came home drunk and beat her within an inch of her life. He didn't finish the job for two reasons: One being that he passed out, and the other was that his older brother, Sesshomaru, had stopped by to give his congratulations.

When he arrived he found the love of his life, Kagome, on the floor bleeding profusely. He wanted to kill his younger brother. The only reason he didn't try to steal Kagome away from Inuyasha is because he thought she was happy. After what he saw that day, Inuyasha was never allowed near her, with or without Sesshomaru's presence.
