This Was A Shadow by Dreaming_oF_Falling
The Shade
Dreaming_oF_Falling: Yah, this is probably going to be veeeery short, I'm probably going to add some more later...
It was the beginning of just another day. Another day of abnormal things, some things that shouldn't be known at times, even seen at times. It was raining, just lightly of course.
"Clichéd..." A simple whisper heard.
A girl was at the edge of the well sitting down with her hands clenched to the sides, looking down with an expression of deep thought. She didn't seem to want to look up, almost like she was just there, just existing until something happened to make her move.
Her thoughts echoing in her head. 'Why... is it this way? Why have I been doing this for so long? Just waiting. Must something always happen to make me move?'
She moved her head to the right and saw a shadow walking towards her, maybe him. No, probably just no one, a traveler. Why would a simple dream, a fantasy come true anyways? He is likely in the forest too far away to clearly sense. Just a little to far to know, but enough to assume where he was, or maybe what he was doing.
The person, the figure, was just standing there, their appearance blurred by the rain. She began to cry softly, hidden by the rain her face the only sign of her sadness.
"I... This journey. I can't handle it, I want to go home." A sad cry from the girl. She wanted the world to freeze, for everyone to go away so that the pain just might stop.
She shouldn't even be saying this.
The shadow moved, turning around. A flash of silver and a bright light and the shadow crept away. So it was him after all. He'll tell them right? Will he tell them that she won't come back?
"I won't... I don't want to come back here anymore." The girl said. No one heard her anymore, she was alone. "I should tell them personally... Of course he won't tell them."
She cried again, trying to hold back. Her steps struggling as she started walking towards the warmth of the village just a small distance away. The fires were lit, the children were inside with their mothers and fathers. Maybe... she should bring the child with her back. Just find a way to get him there. No... It would be to painful for her. A constant reminder of what she left behind. She had to leave the child too. Abandon him, let him grow by himself.
She walked slowly. Another tear, maybe a raindrop. She froze, why was she crying? This is what she wanted, not something she should feel guilty for. But, this sadness is the worst thing. Worse than pain and worse than death. Sadness along with death and pain will exist no matter what happens, and will always cover this world. But sadness will always be there for her, by her memories, her scars, and her love. They all will make a nest of sadness to be within her.
As she reached the hut, the one that she even considered a 'home' was full with her friends. They were talking about something, an act that was normal in a sense, if you didn't pay attention to what they were talking about. This was something that she missed doing with her family. Then there was a sudden change in mood-
"I just don't think it's reasonable." Said one voice.
"Why the hell not!? She's as good, maybe twice as good as the wench!" Another yelled.
"You don't know anything about loyalty. She's been here more often that she sees her family. She's been sacrificing a lot for us." A third one said.
"All I'm saying is that we could get moving faster than she could go home and stay there for the rest of her life to rot." The second one responded.
The girl had decided to leave before she heard the rest. She knew that the first and third voice would just argue until they ignored the loud one. It's how it always is. This is what led her to believe that she was just not good enough for anyone. After all, she was just something that was hidden by a shadow.
