She watched the snow fall, sticking to her long raven black hair on the rusted fire escape. She watched her breath turn to a white fog, her eyes the color of milk chocolate never left the present her dad gave her. A 5th of cherry vodka and a case of berry smirnoff. Her fathers words were "Theres some apple juice in the fridge...if you chase it all together it'll taste like juicy juice..drink up kiddo" No happy birthday...he didn't even say her name...kiddo....15 and her father gave her alcohol. Her friends were siked, alcohol was alcohol, dads were dads. Kagome stood her boots crunching the snow as she made her way down to the fire escape with her present.Kagome made it down the last of the steps and began walking around with her so called present. She sighed. She thought that at least this one day out of all the rest that her father would care enough to really celebarte her birthday, but not her dad, he was to busy being a drunk. Kagome held her hand out and let the snow falkes fall in her gloved hand.

"Maybe I'll go and see my friends." she said as she continued to walk down the street. She knew life had to better than this not all dad were like this right?" she asked herself. It was getting colder and she was ready to throw her present away.

She took the 5th out of the bag and threw the smirnoff away. Tonight she wasn't chasing anything, she unscrewed the lid and took a drink the liquid burning her throat.

"Like father like daughter....cheers old man" Kagome said.

Kagome coughed as the liquior burned her throat, she sat down in the snow. The snow fell in her dark hair, Kagome closed her eyes. While she was drowing in her sorrows a Man that appeared to be in his mid twenties walked up on her, he stood in fornt of her blocking her line of view.

"Could you move please?" Kagome asked him. The man looked down at her. He had fire red hair, and green eyes.

"Aren't you a little young to be drinking?" he asked her.

"What busisness is it of yours?" Kagome asked him as she stood up or tried too. The man caught her in his arms.

"What's your name?" he asked her.

"What's yours?" she slurrred.

"My name is Akai." he told her.

"Kagome Higurashi" Kagome said finally looking at the guy, he was quite handsome she thought or maybe it was the beer goggles coming on, he had his hair back in a pony tail, and he had elvin like pointed ears his teeth were almost fang like but from what she could see his body was packaged.

"Your Miro's kid" Akai said looking at her. "Come on let me take you home."

Kagome nodded her head. "Yeah take me home."she said with sadness. Akai held her hand as he took her back home.

"What are you doing out here this time of night anyway?" he asked as they walked back to her home.

"Today is my birthday I was celebrating."she told him as her house came into view. Kagome opend the front door and was greeted with her parents arguing.

"Couldn't they stop for one day?" she asked herself. She was tired of the yelling, she didn't see her brother so she walked back out the house .

"Hey let me take you somewhere." Akai offered.

Kagome took the last swig of the 5th and giggled throwing the bottle down. "lets go"

"My place is only a block or so away" Akai said "We'll have us a real birthday bash"

Kagome followed Akai back to his place the snow had stopped." It stopped." Kagome said to him.

"So it has." he said to her as he took his keys out his pocket.

"What are we going to do at your place?" Kagome asked him.

"Listen to some music , get you something to eat maybe watch a little tv." he told her.

"That sounds nice." she s aid with a smile. They arrived at Akai's place. he unlocked the door and waited for her to walk in. He then turned on the lights and closed the front door. "Have a seat." he said to her. Kagome walked over to the sofa and sat down.

"Relax Kagome I'm going to fix us something to eat." he told her. The buzz was wearing off and the fear was coming, Kagome snatched the remote off of the table and turned it on. Dog the bounty hunter was on. "My brother watches this" Kagome said casually.

"How olds your brother?" Akai asked, was that fear kagome heard.

"Sixteen" Kagome said, Akai sighed in relief.

Akai handed Kagome a cup of tea. "Thank you." she said to him. "Okay you said we would have a good time." Kagome reminded him.

"So I did ." he said to her. Akai stood up and walked over to the stereo and turned it on, turning the voulme up hewalked back over to her. "That's loud isn't it?" Kagome asked him. "Not for what I'm going to do." he said as he sat down and pushed her hair out of her face.Kagome squirmed from his touch, she had never had a boyfriend before they were all scared of her brother, the only boy she had ever touched was Hojo and he was gay.

"What's wrong Kagome?" he asked her.

"N..nothing" she said as she looked up at him.

"That's good." he said as he leaned in and kissed her on her soft lips. He broke the kiss and loooked at her face. "Come with me." he said as he stood up.

Kagome looked into his eyes. "I better not I have to go home." she said.

"I'll take you home" Akai said.

"Thats good" Kagome said.

"In the moring" He added.

Crunch crunch crunch black combat boots destroyed all snow in their path, 16 years of rebeling,16 years of living in fear, he took his anguish out on the day old snow, if it wan't for his baby sister he would never make this walk back to the run down apartment.He stopped in his tracks when he saw a body, in the snow, on further inspection he found that it was indeed his younger sister. "Kagome!" he yelled as he ran over to her, he picked her up in his arms, taking his coat off he wrapped it around her, and ran into the house and into his bedroom. Sota looked at his sister sprawled on his bed,naked with blood between her thighs and bruises on her wrist, her chest barely rose to signal she was alive,but barely picking up the phone he called the police and his mother on her cellphone.

After ending the call with his mom and the police, he waited, he couldn't clean Kagome, or he would end up destroying all the evdience. "I swear I'll killl whoever did this." Sota vowed. The door bell rang, Sota walked out the room and opened the front door to let the police and paramedics into the house. Kagome was carried out on a stretcher as their mother pulled up in her beaten down buick,Sota jumped in his mothers car and they followed the cops and paramedics to the nearest hospital.When they pulled up to the hospital the cops stopped sota, as his mother followed her daughter.Kagome was taken into one of the exam rooms where she was examined by the doctors and nurse. While Sota and his mom were talking to the cops.

"Where were you when you found her?" the cop asked him.

"I was coming home and saw her in the snow at first I didn't think it was her." he said.

"Who else could it have been son?" The cop asked acusingly.

"Look we dont live in the best neighborhood it could have been any concubine or druggy" Sota said.

"Is your sister one of those?" The cop asked.

Sota lunged at the cop but the other two officers caught him. "Why dont you get your fat ass in there and do your job" Sota growled. Kagome didn't cry or anything as the nurses examined her taking samples from her.

"I'm sorry if this hurts "the nurse said as she took a swab, and placed it in a plastic container to give to the police. Once that was done The nurse helped Kagome into the bathroom so she could shower.The shower was small and sterile, Kagome turned the water on scalding hot and got in. She scrubbed her skin raw and sank to the bottom of the cubicle letting the firy water burn her back and buttocks. After her shower Kagome was given a towel and a robe. Kagome dried her body off and looked at the nurse.

"We're going to keep you over night, the cops and your brother and mom are waiting to talk to you." the nurse told her. Kagome noddded her head and sat on the bed waiting for them to enter the room.Sota walked in and stared at the floor not daring to look at his beaten sister, her mother walked in crying with bruises covered up by make up Kagome new, the cops came in with small smiles followed with dull unfeeling eyes.

"Miss Higurashi do you know who did this to you?" One cop asked.

"Yes I know." she said as she held her head down.

"Can you tell us please?" The cop asked her.

"Akai, he did this to me." she said as she loooked up at the cops.

"And who is he?" the cop asked her.

"He's a friend of the family" Her mom said with anger.

"Am I pregnant" Kagome asked.
