Chapter 1

How it happened

XxX

Kag POV

It was just a normal day really. After school I would hop on the bus, get off at the first stop and sprint for all I was worth until I reached the stables. Then I would toss my back pack carelessly in my cousin's locker and start working until I hear the usually screaming and complaining.

I was just leading a couple of horses back into their stalls for the next switch. There were three switches the first one was from 3:00 am to 10:00 am (I bring the horses out in the morning and leave the rest to the other stable hand during school), the second was 10:30 am to 5:30 pm (I would come at 2:30 and do other stuff such as feeding, watering, graining the other horses that were inside and bring the horses outside inside at 5:30), the third was 6:00 pm to...I don't know must be 'round midnight or somethin' ( I never really cared about that part).

So, I was mindin' my own business (I'll talk about school/family life later) weighing the hay and other good stuff horses like to eat. Normally (if you call it normal, for me it is) my cousin would usually stomping right up to me and start yelling about somethin' I don't even give a shit about. But today it never happened and the barn had been silent it was starting to freak me out. Normally I wouldn't care 'cause I like silence. But if I'm not the one making the silence then I get creeped out. I took hold of the handles to the wheel barrow and started down the aisle, stopping at every stall and tossing the hay in. That was when I felt someone watching me. I ignored it and continued my work. When I was finished I returned to the stacked hay and parked the wheelbarrow. I started to walk towards the gelding pasture.

Lets stop talking about what I'm doing and more about the people that either come/board/work/ live here. Lets start with the top of the food chain the owners are the Tashios are really nice people, a little to nice to me, though they know I'm having a rough life I guess I could thank them for me at least being around and feeding horses instead of me walking around for 'bout an hour petting each horse, wishing I could have one. But I guess this is better than having one, cause I can say I own the whole barn yard of'em. It really does feel that way. Babbling like an idiot here again.

The Tashio's have a really nice, big yellow house. They like to keep things in order but not like those fancy show horse barns do. Sure the lawn is cut and cars parked neatly and have the stable doors fixed once a year and have the aisle swept after your done grooming your horse. Other than that its like a regular barn. Now they have a son, Sesshoumaru, who has a really soft spot for horses. The first day I came here to watch my cousin, when she demanded for Mr. Tashio to call the vet and put the horse down, Sesshoumaru made it quite clear that it was her fault not the horse . I guess you can say since the horse bolted Kikyou off and ran out the arena the reins got caught on my foot when I tried to jump out of the way and was basically dragged for about an hour before the horse decided to jump a fence that blocked the horses way from the grazing pasture. I swear to god if I hadn't had enough trouble (Sesshoumaru and Tashio running after me like crazed fools...it was a wonderful sight indeed, them yelling for me to untangle myself from the horse, I tried, 5 times but I ended up getting more injured then I already was) I was in for some more. The horse jumped I got to me feet as soon as possible but ended in the air and landed on the horse. The ride wasn't 'great' it was life threatening, for the fact I was sitting facing the rump instead of the head and could've fallen off anytime. Luckily someone caught the horse and me before I fainted from so much excitement.

When I woke I was equally frightened when I was face to face (inches apart people) with Sesshoumaru. He asked me if he seen me before I said "Well maybe I'll tell you before you suffocate me for being really close." I swear I saw a tinge of pink on his cheeks that day. From that day forward I was the stable hand. Hey I think Tashio more like convinced me to be the stable hand but I don't mind. I always wake up at 2 am no matter what anyway. Ok, now I'm bored talking about them lets move on.

I was leading the last geldings in, that's when I heard the scream. Oh, no not just a plain old girl scream. A horse scream. I put the horses away and ran straight to the arena. Blood. There was blood EVERYWHERE.

Sessho's POV

Damn here I was again. Watching her. Yes the stablehand. I usually don't give a crap bout them. But shes different. Really different. How different? Lets check her personality; kind, caring, humorous, clumsy fool....thats not a personality trait is it? No its not. See? There she goes again (love that song) making me think not straight. That's it. I'm going to the arena.

Narrator POV

Sitting in one of the plastic chairs, Sesshoumaru was deep, deep, deep in thought.

Sessho's POV

Hahaha. I remember the first time I saw her. She was a really clumsy idiot. But made me look like a fool too.

XFlashbackX

Sesshoumaru leaned backwards in the plastic chair. He watched his father help the new learner. He sighed. Why was he here watching? Who knows. Maybe out of pure boredom.

He turned his head a little. He wasn't expecting to see anything but the dirt patch in front of the gate. No there was another girl, who oddly looked like his fathers new student but didn't at the same time. She had black hair that was in a braid all the way to the small of her back tied with a neon green ribbon. Her eyes were deep, clear blue with specks of silver. She wore a red tank top and blue flare jeans and a pair of tennis shoes.

He blinked, after a few seconds he got up from his plastic chair and stared at her more. She had a smile on her face...no...a grin. A grin. A grin like as if she received the best present ever. It was freaking him out.

He turned back his attention back to his father and student. What he saw was horror. Pure horror. His eyes widen bug-like.

"Its this damn horses fault! He won't listen to me!"

"Whoa. Hold up. Hold on. Stop."

"Arg!" The student jerked on the reins and hopped off the bay horse. She brought her whip up and smacked it right on the rump. The horse reared a bit and backed away. Sesshoumaru jumped over the wall that he was behind and ran over to them.

While they (fluffy, Tashio and Kikyou) were talking and throwing fits (lol think of Sesshoumaru throwing a fit) the horse decided to play 'bolt away and kill someone'. The bay bolted right when he saw the gate creak open.

Sesshoumaru could only stare as he watched the bay bolt toward the gate and fear stricken girl. The worst happened. The horse bolted, the gate broke and the reins were down and caught onto the poor and innocent girl's foot. Both he and his father ran after them both.

The horse went left and toward the barn, dragging a screaming girl (like he cares) and being stalked by two other running people. He went down the first aisle and ran out of the barn he turned left again and turned left again so he was along side the barn and galloping through another gate. The bay turned right, toward the arena but passed it. He headed toward the grassing pasture. He heard voices but didn't care. He felt a few pulls on his reins and didn't care. He jumped the fence and landed and something landed on him, hard. Hands reached for his bridle and slowed him down to a stop. The thing that was on his back slid off.

Sesshoumaru stared at the girl. Who was on the couch. As far as he knows she is 'moms' daughter. Strange woman wanted to have him call her 'mom'. The other girl was Kikyou who was this girls cousin. No wonder why they looked alike. They were family. But she looked oddly familiar to him. He brought his face closer to hers to get a better inspection of her. Nothing popped in his brain. He watched as her eyes fluttered open. He asked one question that ruined his life from there.

"Have I seen you before?"

XEndFlashX

Narrator POV

Yes that one fucking question made him have a crush on her since that moment. Sesshoumaru was brought out of his thoughts when the stallion his father was working screamed.
