Chapter One

That Darn Cat

Written By: Victoria Brown

It was a few days before her eighteen birthday; she was hunting for the family cat once again. It had escape from the main house; she saw the paw prints in the sand in front of the close shed. Her curiosity had never bothered to prop her to venture in there before. She could hear the cat meowing, it sounded like it was in pain. Kagome pushed the unlocked doors open to see her once precious cat loudly purring away on the edge of a well. Kagome eyed the old scrolls her grandfather had placed on top of the block of wood over the opening. Everything seemed to appear normal but the whole place gave her nothing but a creepy feeling that left her cold inside.

The cat began to play with one of the scrolls that glue underneath was started to become undone. Kagome had been too late, a strong gust of wind finish the job for the cat by carrying it away. Her heart stopped for a good second before it bothered to beat again. She imagined the worst things from hell would appear but nothing happened. She quickly grabbed for the cat but it jumped down in time to miss her arms completely and ran back toward the house. Kagome absent mildly lend against the block to rest for a second and it moved a bit.

She was about to scream but there wasn't time has voice was calling her by name. She had no desire to venture a look down the well, but something drawn her to look. What she saw what could loosely be called a woman part on top and the rest a beetle body on the bottom? It was a good 25 feet down and the creature was about 10 feet in length. The beetle lady thing clutched Kagome's right arm and parted the wooden block completely back, dragging the now screaming girl down. It started to question where the crystal of the four souls and two hearts where, Kagome felt the blackness and saw nothing until she hit the bottom of the well. When she looked up she saw more daylight pouring in then when she was on top, it was like there was no shelter over it anymore. She also felt a small stream of water running between her legs has well.

Kagome remembered what she had been taught by her father, mother, and grandfather about how to defend against demons, she reason she would never have to use the knowledge to protect herself against one. The being had rapped one arm around each of her foot; it was still smiling when the fire in its belly was started. Kagome's mind was clear and her feelings where solely on the picture in her mind of the Fire of Heaven she was targeting the demon. It was going to kill the girl before it died, but the arms holding onto Kagome went to ashes before the demon could react. Kagome was surprise how calm she had remained, has the rest of the demon's body was swept up into the air.

She felt for anything that she could use has a rope or leverage to get out of the well. After searching for a good few minutes she had located a thin vine growing down the well. She gently pulled on it to test to see if it would brake, but it passed that one test and she slowly made her way up the well wall and digging her feet into the sides has well so her entire weight wouldn't be on the vine. When she reached the top she almost feel back to bottom, the shed was no longer over the well, it was in the open with everything else she had ever known her entire life had disappeared. The shrine was gone with the rest of the city has well, and it was all open country. She searched her mind for what time period she must had been in, it could be a thousand years or five thousand she wasn't completely sure. She saw a tree she knew very well, the Inuyasha tree but it was without its scar and was half the size from her time.

Kagome's mother Sango had fallen down the same well when she had been fifteen. She had found a sleeping boy with an arrow right through his heart and had plucked it out, causing him back to life. He had thought Sango had been his twin sister that had shoot the arrow that had pinned him to a tree for over seven hundred years. She blinked once and then twice before the first memory had came back to her of her previous life. She said his name out loud falling to her knees begging forgiveness. Inuyasha went by the strangely dress girl pulling her by the hair and dragging her up so he could kiss her on the lips. It was the start of the reunion of the lost siblings; they had never been separated in their own time. The reason she had shot her own brother was he wanted them to have their own family but she wonder what life would be without him. He had grown jealous over time and to free her of him without killing was to pin him to a tree until the right time to free him. She had gotten herself killed in battle and she was reincarnated has a human a few times before falling down the well. They had adventures and misadventures in the following years after his awaking; he would end up leaving the past to live in the modern world with his wife. They would have two children, which Kagome was the eldest and a boy a few years afterwards.

Kagome's father ended up giving up his demonic powers so the two could live out a normal human life; it was worth anything to be with his beloved. He was learning to take over the temple when Sango's father would finally die one day. Kagome had grown up listening to her parents outlandish tales and wished she would have her very own, how the voice of some old woman was running through her mind about being careful for what you wish for because it might just come true. Had she went back further in time then her own mother had? She needed to find people before slipping down the well back to her own time; she knew her fate laid in finding out. She wasn't going to run from whatever was waiting for her own destiny.

A small group of armed men had spotted the lone female. She was simply staring dumb folding out some growing tree. They where on their way to see the oversee lord of the district and had been unsuccessful in finding a present, the girl would have to do. Kagome saw three men approach her from behind; she remained still until one was close enough for her to do a nice kicking move to his balls. He cried out in pain and fell to the ground, the other two was on alert, Kagome smiled to herself, she had always wanted to try out some of her mother's favorite moves in a fight. She was about to land a hard punch to one of guy's throat but two more men joined in and she was grabbed from behind and one kicked her in the gut. Kagome had never felt so much pain in all of her life, she screamed out, but the men where already busy tying rope around her body with her arms behind her back. She felt a cramp around her ovaries and something wanted to be pushed out of her body. She could already feel the blood pouring out between her thighs has something smooth and round was caught in her underwear. The leader order one of men to check if she was a virgin or not, it was easy work thanks to her high skirt. He pulled her white underwear off and slipped one finger deep inside of her body and shook his head yes. He finally noticed something sparkling and shining from the now blood soaked panties, taking them in his hands he found what appeared to a cracked jewel.

Kagome would have kicked him for violating her like that by she was in too much pain to think, let alone move her body in fighting moves. He picked the odd gem, wiping the blood with the underwear, and went to ask Kagome if she had any other hidden treasures on her person. She shook her head no, and the commander the man to toss her in the wagon and they where off. Kagome's body was fighting with her mind over sleep, in the end her body won.

She didn't awake until the company had reached the palace and the wagon came to a complete stop. She tried to rub her eyes but her hands where still tied up behind her back. Two of the men dragged her from the wagon with no warning, and was lead from outside to be dropped right in front of the lord of the matter. She overheard her prize being argue and settle on two hundred pieces of gold for her and the broken stone that was found with her. The men where happy and told her to obey her new master or she would die a very painful death, the last sound she heard from them was room filling laughter. Kagome had kept her head down the entire time; she didn't want to believe she was being bought like a piece of fish at a market.

He ordered her to look at him in the eyes; she met her first demon with long silver hair that was tied by behind his head that went to his waist. She felt many things but one emotion that stuck out weirdly for her was calmness. His voice was soft and demanded to be obeyed by the hearer. He asked her about the little gem, she answered him with the truth, and she had no idea where it had come from. It just fell out of her body when she had been hit in the stomach by a foot. Sesshoumaru with one finger cut her ropes and Kagome went to rub out the soreness that had started to set in. He allowed himself a few seconds of staring out her before demanding she cleaned herself up to his standards. He walked out of the room to attend some other business, and she was gently led to the adjoining room to allow her to clean up.

It was an hour before the lord returned to his latest possession, he gave her a small bow, and Kagome did the same. She had been warned by the other slaves he was a firm but fair master, if you learned your place quickly enough without testing him. She was dressed in a plain white kimono; Sesshoumaru's taste ran fresh instead of elaborate. He pointed for her to sit across the small table that took most of the room in the bedroom. He just stared at her for quite awhile, Kagome wanted to ask him what he desire of her, but she remained silent. A small wind carried in the outside garden's latest bloom of flowers, she smiled a bit with the refreshed air. He finally moved closer to her, she went stiff body wide. Kagome turned her head, he was about to land a kiss on her cheek, but the servant came in with the tea. Sesshoumaru was about five inches from her face and without bothering to turn his head thanked the person for the tea and commanded that no one else was allow to come into that room for the rest of the night.

"Do you know how long I have waited to find you?" asked Sesshoumaru.

"No my lord," Kagome kept her eyes downcast.

Sesshoumaru inhaled her scent down into himself. "I had recall when I was about 25, that was more then hundred years ago, can you imagine what it feels like to remember someone for that long?"

"What is recall have to do with me, and how do you remember me? We just met my lord, no more then two hours ago."

"Ha, that is true, but only for this lifetime my sweet. Long time before this current time there was a legend about a priestess and dog demon general that had fallen in love with each other. She lived almost has long has any demon can, two hundred years has you know. She was barren for life and was unable to give him a child, the two out of some noble idea about love, created a jewel of combined power of human and demon to represent the children they could never have. It was a promise some other future life they would have babies with each other. At that time this land was in pure chaos, unknown to them their physical promise of the future would cause nothing but trouble for the two. Neither would even dare think about getting rid of it for what it meant to them. They both lived to old and die of natural causes, but before that one demon had stolen and broken the gem into many different pieces. They spent years collecting them and putting it back together, but one piece always eluded them. It would fall from one demon to the next until it landed in the hands of Naraku who would become the master of All in Japan."

"That is a nice story my lord but what it has to do with us?"

Sesshoumaru smirked. "Can't you feel how it resonates with you?"

Kagome tried to feel some connection with the tale but she felt nothing. She shook her head no.

"I was the general, I have no doubt about it, I can remember that entire life from the childhood to when I died. I have been haunted by his love for her for most of my life."

"I believe in reincarnation, but I have never heard of people being able to remember entire lives like that."

"It is a curse let me tell you, I at times wished I had never remember those ancient feelings, but it has felt to good to cast them aside. I haven't had much other sweetness to call upon in this life."

"That is sad my lord, I am sorry to hear that."

"Don't be, just do my favor remember your past."

"I do remember my past, I have a good memory."

"Not this life, your past lives!"

"I don't even know how to do that."

Sesshoumaru growing annoyed softly kissed her on the lips. Kagome melted into his skin; it was so soft and warm. He knew how she loved to be kissed, she smiled and fought to breath when he finally part from her. She giggled a bit and felt a hand on her side tickling her silly. No one knew her secret spot beside her family, and it was weird how he knew them all.
