Chapter One: If things were Fine and Dandy...

Late Bloomer- Now in the Process of being rewritten...

NM Note: Right, I thought from the reviews that I'd try and rewrite my story so it could be better for all those who liked it. Thanks kindly, I do read your reviews and love them! Here it is the first new chapter to Late Bloomer; if you want to read the older version I still have it up, so I know what to write about >_> Don't get mad if some things are different. I don't exactly have the best memory. In addition, if you have any ideas let me know! Criticism is also welcome and flames make me laugh, so hope you all enjoy!

Story Summary: Who knew Rin was such a late bloomer? He does what any sane person would do. He goes after the one human female who lived through his brutal attacks and who appears to be just as insane...Kagome Higurashi.

Chapter Summary: The Daimyo of the West finally gives in to his mental abuse and finds help for his very distraught and currently insane ward, Rin. He just hopes he's not getting himself into a bigger headache induced problem in the mean time...

Chapter One: If Things Were Fine and Dandy...

Things were fine and dandy...

No.

They weren't

Not only had his young ward, Rin, reached the maturity level of the human species, but also she had also drastically changed from the angel-faced little girl--to some crazy, hormonal teenage woman. To say the least... she was horrible! As Lord Sesshoumaru could see, the change within the girl had started several days before she hit this level of insanity.

Rin had come to see him after the old Inu-Youkai he had assigned to tutor her in the important subjects of the world had come crashing in his study in hysterics, deeply apologizing about disrupting his Lord, but with urgent news that the human female was wailing over nothing! Now he knew his Rin, and she rarely cried. She could stare the Devil in the face and smile, so he found this...odd to say the least.

So, moving about the house, the old Youkai hot on his heels, he stopped short of Jaken, wildly swinging his staff at the girl, who was releasing tiny wails and mumbling about nothing of importance.

As soon as Sesshoumaru had opened his mouth, eager to put an end to such foolishness, Rin started to toss her books at the little toad Youkai, hitting him square in the chest and causing him topple over. As amused as Sesshoumaru seemed to be at this, Rin wasn't one for violence, so when she screamed at Jaken about how he didn't understand, the Lord chose to take matters into his own hands. He took a step forward, his deep baritone voice stopping Rin in her tracks, as it seemed she was about to toss scrolls at the now very irate Jaken.

She glanced up, her eyes glassy and her face flush with tears, as she stood with a sniff, "Sesshoumaru-sama..." She uttered shortly, an apologetic look on her face as she cast her gaze downward, ashamed at her actions.

"Come." He said as he looked to Jaken, who he could tell had several very colorful words to shout at the emotional teen. Sesshoumaru merely narrowed his orbs into tiny slits, a compliant bow from the toad ensued before he hastily moved to pick up the mess that Rin had created.

That alone was the start of the problems.

Even now he stared at the scroll in his hands. That incident had been three days ago, and he had been teaching Rin ever since... as it seemed she had gotten worse though the day. Not much later, she started to complain about abdominal pain, so he had fetched his healer about it who had stated she was healthy, if not somewhat stressed. Sesshoumaru found this, once again, to be very... odd.

Rin sat fidgeting in front of Sesshoumaru as her hands fumbled with the ends of the elegant sky blue and cream colored Kimono. She kept her gaze bent as he lifted his golden gaze from the parchment and raised a brow; something was wrong. He could tell by the way her eyes looked; the tight expression betrayed that small bit of pain--discomfort. He would wait for her to speak to him as he returned his gaze to the scroll. The Lord of the East wished for his eldest daughter to stay here with him as a special guest while the Southern and Eastern territories ended the minor and very trivial war that was taking place.

Sesshoumaru rolled his eyes. The youkai girl was known to be quite a beauty; Sesshoumaru himself, at one point in his youth, had tried to court the girl, but after talking to the girl he felt himself being repulsed as all that mattered to her was the beautiful features that most of his kind was blessed with.

He put the scroll down suddenly, watching as it fell along the crowded and scattered contents of his desk, which caused the young girl before him jump "Rin." He said, stopping as he watched her bite her lower lip and it was then he smelt it. A sweet honey smell, and yet it was blended with the light scent of blood, and for the longest time since he could remember, he was shocked.

His young ward... by youkai standards, just reached her first heat, or by the human population she was now of marrying age.

Sesshoumaru stared blankly as the girl flushed, refusing to meet his eyes. He felt his heart warm, though he raised the girl, he couldn't help but show some sort of parental concern for the child when she got in trouble, hurt, and now, even when she became a woman.

But as it was said before, this was only the beginning of his problems, so he called his healer and the two went back to Rin's chambers to where he shut his eyes and relaxed some; this was wonderful. Now it clicked. Since his lack of association with the human race, he had forgotten this was their form of heat and letting a male know she was ready for procreation.

Two days passed and Rin became more irate. Everything set her off; it made him want to cringe as she ran about the house crying and stomping around like some lunatic. The servants and several of the soldiers had learned not to trifle with a human female in such a stage.

It was then he thought he should get help. He would never normally sully himself to ask anyone or anything alive for help, but he wasn't sure how long his sanity would last if Rin continued to act the way she did. She needed someone to take it out on.

He paused in mid thought as he let the easiest and yet the slightest of smirks to grace his lips as he thought. Indeed that human girl who traveled with his moronic half sibling was quite the character. She could handle Rin until this phase was over, and then he could ship her back.

What a brilliant plan. Too bad he forgot that Kagome was twice as bad all the time... a minor detail he would have to overlook, hence meaning, he, the Great Daimyo forgot.

The day he knew he had to retrieve the girl from his brother was as soon as he moved into the hallway which led to Rin's rooms. He paused in mid-stride as he felt the sudden urge to roll his eyes upon realizing they were at it once again. Rin, who was, again, in an angry rage, was hurling her belongings at Jaken who was squeaking and seemed to be angrier then the girl as he swung his staff. Rin would've then let out a sudden cry "You don't understand Jaken-sama!" She said before the wooden makeup box was tossed across the room and smacked the toad in the head. He fell over and Sesshoumaru looked highly amused.

He came to stand at the edge of her room just in case she thought he was Jaken and attempted to toss something at his person "Rin," He said softly as the girl looked up and smiled happily-- the joys of mood swings.

He sighed and stared at her, "Rin, I will be leaving for a few days to help... treat your aliments." He told and she perked right up and smiled and bowed "Thank you Sesshoumaru-sama!" She said suddenly, as that was the way he liked to see her. He then turned to Jaken as the vile imp glared at the girl. "While I am away I expect this mess and the unimportant paperwork taken care of." He said before turning on his heel, walking calmly away as Jaken ran off in the opposite direction.

So with that he moved to complete his already partially-completed plan.

oOo

Kagome grunted as she tossed her bag over the lip of the well with all her might, while she still hung on for dear life to the vines which were host to the inside wall of the well. As soon as she catapulted her lithe form over the well's edge, she released an irate noise as she seated herself on its edge, letting out a tired breath before standing and stretching her limbs over her head. She paused to allow the joyous feeling of refreshment to overflow her senses.

Five years had passed since her journey had started. That included two years since the defeat of Naraku and was followed by two years of peace. Though she held no peace, once the Shikon had been completed, Kagome had wished for Kikyou to be alive. It was a selfless act and she honestly had to say she secretly regretted it. Since loving Inuyasha, her and Inuyasha had experienced their ups and downs, though mostly downs when it came to their relationship. Kikyou had gotten an actual body and the Shikon had actually given Kikyo her soul back while Kagome retained one of her own. The Jewel vanished, and as far as Kagome knew, it had disappeared for good.

Though still in love with the hot-tempered Hanyou, Kagome felt herself wishing for his own happiness over her own. She had cried for several nights alone with just the comfort of either her mother's or Sango's caring touch, but she had been able to hide it within the recesses of her mind as she helped Sango soon after she had married Miroku, and shortly after the birth of the couple's first child.

Kagome couldn't have been happier as when she was playing with the rambunctious, little one year old. Sango would be expecting her second, seeing that she was six months along. Watching the small, developing family up close, she noticed her longing for a family of her own. Though Shippou was fine enough, the Kit was growing at a rapid speed and was up to her knees in height, thirteen, and full of mischief. She couldn't keep track of often the village woman giggled when he gave them that devilish smile, which reminded her, she'd have to talk to Shippou about asking Miroku about girls, picturing Shippou as a perverted womanizer made Kagome giggle and groan all at once.

Climbing out of that well alone was a work out! She smiled before tossing the cumbersome yellow bag over her left shoulder and starting her short trek back to the village.

Humming softly as she came along the dirt path, Kagome stopped short as she overlooked the village at the base of the path she needed to take... it seemed there was some sort of ruckus going on. She raised both brows in surprise as she drew closer to see Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha arguing adamantly.

Well, Inuyasha was yelling, and Sesshoumaru glowering down at his younger half sibling. She moved closer before Inuyasha pretty much stopped her, Miroku stood still as stone, his body placed protectively before his pregnant wife, while the ex-Youkai slayer cradled their swaddled daughter lightly against her chest, the baby sleeping. Kagome sighed, the two truly resembled parents, the bags under there eyes proved so. Sango continued to hold the baby, rocking her soothingly in her arms, while Miroku kept his staff implanted in the soft dirt, a promise of extra protection should the need for it arise.

Inuyasha on the other hand was already uttering foul curses under his breath "So, what's going on?" Kagome asked, suddenly drawing all the attention to her. Inuyasha shrugged, leading the miko to roll her eyes in annoyance. "Right, well why doesn't someone ask him?" She asked a little too sweetly before side stepping Inuyasha to walk over to Sango and Miroku. She smiled at them as she turned her overt attention to Sesshoumaru, who was, no surprise, looking like his usual bored and emotionless self.

"So why are you here?" She asked

Her question was greeted with complete silence.

Turning her complete attention to the demon before her, Kagome raised a brow before she glanced tentatively to Inuyasha, who was looking highly impatient as he positioned his hand to draw to withdraw his blade before Kagome glared and uttered the one word Inuyasha probably wasn't expecting at the moment.

"Sit." She breathed and watched as the Hanyou's eyes widened into saucers and the visible pull of the beads led him face first onto the dirt...which was also littered with little jagged rocks...

Sesshoumaru seemed amused as the girl stopped Inuyasha's soon-to-be assault against his person. He cast her a slow bored gaze. "Rin." Was all he said, as he wished to get back as soon as possible. Kagome's eyes widened slightly, before she blinked in confusion, taking a hesitant step towards him "Is she okay!?" She demanded, her voice harsh and worried. This outburst only rewarded her with his pale honey eyes narrowing on her. "Woman, do not take such a tone with me." He snapped, clearly not impressed as Kagome looked baffled, her lips drawn down in a pout, refraining herself from insulting him for the time being, knowing it to be fairly dangerous since Sango was caring both children with her at the moment.

Sesshoumaru raised a brow as the girl went suddenly quiet, glad then he could get this over with as quickly and painlessly as possible. "She is experiencing typical female behavior for someone of her age, but your assistance is required." He explained to her sourly as he watched the girl's pixie face go into thought before she gave a wide smile. "That's why you're here!?" She asked with a hint of laughter as Inuyasha pulled himself up and glared at his brother "What?!" the thick half-demon asked, clearly not understanding.

Kagome giggled "Nothing, Inuyasha..." She told him softly, a hint of humor sparkling in her eyes as her face softened. Sesshoumaru wanted to poke her eyes from her skull, so she wouldn't feel the need to stare at him in such a manor. Inuyasha, now quiet annoyed, snarled and lunged for Sesshoumaru, which the elder Demon side-stepped, causing Inuyasha to fall to the ground as graceless as possible, which, in turn, caused him to release a sudden loud curse, waking the infant in Sango's arms.

Everything seemed to pause. Kagome paled and turned towards Miroku, who was desperately trying to soothe their daughter as he stalked menacingly towards Inuyasha. Sesshoumaru was momentarily forgotten as the monk whapped Inuyasha over the skull with his staff. Leaving him to fall into an unconscious state. "He doesn't know how difficult it is too get her to sleep!" He snarled suddenly as Kagome giggled and averted her gaze back to Sesshoumaru. "So what exactly do you need?" She asked, wondering why he was gracing her with that blank stare...was she serous? This girl was obviously dense. "You will accompany me until Rin is better." He told her briefly and Kagome's eye's widened.

"You mean, like, live with you?" She asked, her eyes widening as he gave her a brief curt nod. But only until Rin was back too normal. Kagome smiled. Looking to her two best friends, she slowly walked over to them, trying her hardest not to startle the baby back to tears. "Keep Inuyasha at bay!" She said, excitement evident in her voice. Sango raised a brow, still rocking and cradling the half-conscious child. "Kagome-chan... you sure gave in kind of fast didn't you?" She asked haphazardly, shaking her head in disbelief as Kagome shrugged. "Rin-chan needs me." She explained, something she knew she would do only for the dark haired girl.

Miroku smiled in that old way, causing Kagome to mentally cringe. "Ahh... Kagome-sama your kind heart makes me feel truly at peace!" He said before he placed his hand on the swell of her wondrous backside. Kagome shrieked, the baby shrieked, and Miroku joined Inuyasha in the dirt.

Sango soothed the baby before Kagome expectantly reached out and Sango reluctantly handed her daughter over to her best friend. Kagome cooed softly, rocking back and forth. The baby giggled and snuggled against Kagome for comfort. Sango smiled, "So, keep them under control, huh?" She asked. Kagome smiled and nodded, "If you wouldn't mind. Rin must be scared to death, so I'll help her through it." Sango nodded and smiled as Kagome handed the infant back to her mother, "Be good little Hakku and I'll bring you back some... thing..." She said her words cutting off. Both girls laughed before Kagome pointedly ignored both males on the ground as she passed their motionless forms, and stopped beside Sesshoumaru, who was being as patient as he could be. "Let's go!" She said with a smile.

It was then, to his immense and immediate horror that Sesshoumaru realized two things. This was most likely a big mistake and he could already feel the familiar pulse of a headache within the very depths of his mind.

NM: Right, first Chapter done, and thank you to my Beta Black_Rose for helping me out! ^^
