Oni Kala by Tahru Bloodmoon

Just Another Day

"SIT!"

Bird took flight towards the morning horizon, leaves rustling with their passage. The blue sky held only a few short clouds, stretching beautifuly into the distance. In the clear water of a river, Sango was washing a set of clothes. About seven feet from her the monk relaxed with his back against a shady tree, Shippou coloring on a piece of paper next to him. A small circle of rocks enclosed a fire, which the young miko was cooking her Ramen over. Directly to her left a man-shaped crater was imbedded in the ground.

"I warned you, Inuyasha. Kagome isnt in a very good mood this morning."

The hanyou's temple twiched slightly. That sage-like voice Miroku always used when he actually wasnt being smacked around as well was starting to get on his nerves. Slowly he pulled himself from the hole and slammed himself down in a sitting position, his arms crossed as he stared at their breakfast.

"You really shou-"

"Cram it houshi."

A short sigh and the monk was quieted, Shippou being the only one to see exactly why. Sango had dropped a cloth into the water, and upon reaching out to retrieve it had left him a view he simply couldnt look away from. The sly smile creeping over his face was evidence enough of his devious thoughts.

"You'll get yours too." Shippou said in an off hand manner, causing the exterminator to turn her head slightly.

Kagome jumped when the loud slam rumbled the ground under her, flinging some hot broth onto Inuyasha's face. She had barely recovered herself in time to stop the whole pot from spilling when Sango sat across from her and started polishing her weapon. Without turning around she knew there was a human imprint on the tree behind her, with an unconscious monk under it.

"Is it ready yet?" The impatience in his voice, and the growling of his stomach, told how very hungry Inuyasha really was. He quickly silenced his tongue when Kagome's sharp glare met his eyes. 'Damn that woman sure can scare the devil.' The thought cheered him slightly. Enough to accept that he wasnt getting an answer.

Several hours later, the group was all packed, fed, and about ready to move when Inuyasha growled and faced behind them. "What is it?" Kagome asked, just before she felt the two jewel shards. Inuyasha hadnt answered yet when she said it. "Koga." The lack of excitement in her voice didnt escape notice of the hanyou, but he still said nothing of it.
