Chapter 1: Intrigue

Kagome was sad, she will say, but not heartbroken. She had cried one too many tears and slowly began to let go of the silly little crush that she had on Inuyasha. It couldn't have been true love anyway. If it had, it wouldn't have been so easy to put Inuyasha in the past. In a way, Kagome was grateful to Inuyasha. She cared for him like a brother. No matter what, he would be like an older brother... a really protective older brother.

Kagome slowly got up from her place on the ground. Oh yeah, it had been so long. She was now seventeen years old and still living it up in the Warring States Era. Brushing dirt off of her dark blue jeans, Kagome mused over the last two years.

They were still searching for the rest of the Shikon Jewel. Moving ever closer and yet farther from the Jewel itself, but they grew. Inuyasha was still immature, but hey, beggars can't be choosers, ne? Though a half demon, Inuyasha was still strong. Sure he had a little to no class, but he was Inuyasha. He was who he was. Then there was Sango and Miroku. Both were haunted by the past, both having hardships; Sango losing her family and Miroku cursed with the Wind Tunnel. Though they hadn't noticed at first, they were in love with each other, and after realizing that they could lose their lives without telling each other, they confessed to each other. Now, they were happily married and at the village, Sango being heavy in pregnancy. Kirara and Shippo decided to stay with Kagome and Inuyasha. Being like sisters, Sango didn't want Kagome to go unprotected, even though there was Inuyasha, there was a chance that Kagome could go unprotected, and as a gift, Sango had given Kirara to Kagome. Although Kagome had tried to persuade Sango that she needn't give up her little friend, Sango would have none of it, and eventually, Kagome had given in. Now, Kagome was happy that she had both Kirara and Shippo. Shippo was her adopted son and Kirara was a constant companion.

"Mama, I'm hungry." Kagome laughed a bit as she picked up Shippo.

"Alright then, let's get something to eat."

Kagome then walked off back to camp with Shippo and upon their arrival, they met Kirara, but no Inuyasha. Inuyasha must've gone off to Kikyo. It was no secret that he would sneak off to see his undead lover, but when Kagome got tired of his lies, she confronted him on it. All lies had gone to rest ad they had their closure to which Inuyasha was all too happy with. He didn't want to choose between the two women, they were both important to him, but to choose one, would upset the other. He desired for only their happiness.

Going through her blue book bag, seeing as how her poor yellow book bag had been torn to shreds, she took out the needed supplies and got started on supper, which would be steamed rice, barbeque chicken and fried fish.

Soon, supper was finished and with an "Itadakimasu" they ate to their hearts content. While eating, Shippo told Kagome about his little adventures with Kirara and how much fun he had had that day. It was all really cute to Kagome, the way his eyes would sparkle with mischief and mirth. She especially loved his fluffy tail; it would wag around in excitement as he talked animatedly.

"Ok, time for bed." And with that, they settled down, quite content and fell into dreams.

"Miko."

"Yes Sesshomaru-sama?"

For some reason, Sesshomaru wanted something. He had come to the camp site, knowing full well that Inuyasha wasn't there.

"I require your aid, Rin is sick and needs medical attention, but I have not the time to seek out a healer. I am needed in the Northern Lands and cannot be postponed any longer."

"Of course Sesshomaru-sama, I will see what I can do for Rin."

"Thank you."

And with that, Sesshomaru left in a bright ball of blue light, speeding off to the Northern Lands to see what the other lords wanted this time.

Kagome had been at the Western Palace for about a fortnight, taking care of the small human child. Rin was usually a ball of energy, but she came down with a cold from playing hide-and-seek with Jaken by hiding in the shallow end of a river.

"Kagome!"

Now, Rin was fine. After Sesshomaru returned, Kagome would go back to the camp site and wait for Inuyasha; she had left before he had returned and didn't wish for him to worry if he came back to the camp before she did and worried himself to death.

"Yes Rin?"

"Sesshomaru-sama is here!"

Thus, Kagome was dragged by the child to Sesshomaru. As soon as Sesshomaru was in sight, Rin let go of Kagome and latched on to Sesshomaru, telling he about how much she had missed him and how much fun Kagome was compared to "mean 'ol Jaken".

"Thank you once more for your aid miko."

Kagome nodded and bowed.

"Your welcome Sesshomaru-sama, but I must be going. It was nice meeting and playing with you Rin."

With a few good-byes, Kagome left toward her camp, leaving a hyper child and a pondering dog demon wondering about said miko and the meeting with the other lords.
