Chapter 1

A young boy the age of ten stood beside his father in a large field of tall grass and flowers. The wind blew threw the air with force, but that didnt seem to affect them. Sesshoumaru stared at the rabbit that was laying in peace. His father, Inutaisho, layed his hand on his shoulder and nodded his head. The young boy took a deep breath before finishing his task.

Sesshoumaru ran through the fields, jumping over rocks and running around in circles. Inutaisho laughed at his son's behavior getting a mock glare out of him which made him laugh even more. They went through the forests until they reached home where everyone welcomed them back.

The smell of roasted pork hit their noses and the the women smiled and served them food. Sesshoumaru looked up at his father and tilted his head.

"Father, why is China attacking us?"

Inutaisho looked down at his son and sighed. "I am not sure, my son, but someone must put a stop to them."

Sesshoumaru grinned. "Someone like you!"

Inutaisho laughed and rustled his hand through his son's hair, watching as he ran off towards his mother, Amiriana. He held up a wreath he had made and watched as she kissed his forehead and smiled.

Inutaisho walked off to the great hall where everyone was sitting around the table with their king, Luthiren. Everyone was having the time of their lives until the doors swung open, the sound of screams reaching their ears. Luthiren and Inutaisho stood up and stared outside. The villages were burning and the sound of horses and screaming was getting louder.

"Get back! They are here! Get back I say!" Luthiren and some of the men tipped the tables and guarded the area while the women and children moved back. The Chinese entered the hall and tore up the place. Inutaisho and Luthiren attacked the men, making sure they didnt make it to the women. There was so much blood everywhere, the sound of the women screaming and smoke filled the room. Amiriana held Sesshoumaru to her chest and looked around for a way to get out. She noticed the small trap door and pulled it open and pushed her son in it.

"Sesshoumaru, stay here!" shes said.

He grabbed onto her kimono's sleeve, tugging her to him."Mother, come with me!"

She shook her head and pushed him in and closed the door and turned around only to be stabbed by a sword. She fell to the ground, ontop of the door hiding Sesshoumaru. Inutaisho looked back and yelled.

"NO!!! AMIRIANA!!!!" he sliced through more men, taking arrows and blades to his body until he could no longer stand and fell to the ground, blood pouring across the floor.

The sounds disappeared and Sesshoumaru took that as a sign that the Chinese had left the grand hall so he lifted up the door but stopped and brought his hands to his face and his eyes widened. His hands were covered with blood. Once againhe lifted the door up and stepped out and looked at the body. His heart broke as he saw the face of his mother staring back at him, her face pale of color except for the drops of blood smeared across her face.

Sesshoumaru turned and saw a man coming towards him, sword in hand. The young boy stood still, not comprehending what was happening. The man lifted his sword above his head and came down.

"Nooooo!!!!" Luthiren moved in front of Sesshoumaru, losing his arm in the process and turned around and slammed his sword into the man. Sesshoumaru had moved against a wall watching the scene.

Luthiren looked over at his friend's son and pulled him to his body. Sesshoumaru's long silver hair was blackened with dirt and blood, his face void of any emotions and his eyes wide with disbelief.

On the border of China, a ceremony was being held. Many villagers walked alongside each other, following the priests and the King and his daughter. They layed down the board, which held a young woman with short black hair and ruby lips. She had many flowers around her body which was dressed in one of her finest kimonos.

The priests prayed before setting her corpse on fire. The king, Naraku, and his daughter Kagome, watched as the smoke rised into the air,the smell of freshly burnt flesh. Naraku had not shed a tear while his daughter had shed many. Her servant, Sango, held the young child to her chest.

When her body was gone, leaving only ashes which were gathered into a clay pot and given to the young princess where she went off and had set them in a secretive place that only she and Sango had known about.

"Why did she have to die?" Kagome stared at the pot, wishing that it was empty and her mother was alive once more.

Sango kneeled beside her. "It is the will of Kami. All things shall die eventually. Your mother had not suffered."

Kagome looked at her servant. "She had suffered. She suffered of not having true love. That is the reason of her death."

Sango stared at the princess. Such a young girl should not have had to see such horrible things.

Naraku was a terrible man, breaking things off and destroying the lives of others. His daughter despised him. She hated him with a passion but he was never to know that.

Luthiren and the remaining villagers including Sesshoumaru walked into another village. This one had also been partially burnt down. A woman ran into Luthiren's arms, crying her eyes out.

Sesshoumaru stood off to the side not knowing what to do and still not being able to believe what had happened.

Luthiren looked over to the young boy. "He is now under our care."

The woman, Nefriati, looked at him then back at the king. "What of Inutaisho and Amiriana? Surely they wish to have their son back."

Luthiren looked into her eyes and she knew. She knew his paretns had died and he was left all alone. She walked over to the young boy and kneeled so she was his height.

"Hello, Sesshoumaru. I'm Nefriati. You shall stay with us from now on. I have a son about your age." She stood up and whistled. "Miroku! Come here will you!"

A young boy came running around the corner, a rat tail hanging above his neck, his violet eyes staring up at his mother.

"This is Sesshoumaru. HE shall be staying with us from now on."

Miroku looked at him and held his hand out. "Welcome!"

Sesshoumaru just stared at the hand. Luthiren walked over to him and pulled him close. "Let us get you cleaned up."

Sesshoumaru followed him to the springs.

Later on that day, the men started rebuilding while the children had their battles.

"He wont fight me!" Miroku said, trying to fight Sesshoumaru with his wooden sword.

Sesshoumaru just took off his helmet and threw it to the ground. Luthiren sighed and Nefriati watched with Borus.

"The heart of a lion, that one has." Borus watched as Miroku kept trying to get him to fight.

"You gonna cry? I lost my father too but I wont cry. Why dont you just go hide under a door again you little crybaby."

Sesshoumaru growled and swung his sword at Miroku, clashing with his. He fought every kid their and was about to make a finishing move until Luthiren grabbed him and held him to his body with the only arm he had.

10 years have passed...

Sesshoumaru walked through the village, his working kimono swaying with him. His long silver hair reached down to his butt, the color a little darkened from working. He had grown a little over six feet and had muscles and was well shaped. His eyes shown with many emotions as he walked to the market.

Out of the blue, he was jumped on. Miroku laughed at him, his violet eyes shinning with laughter. Sesshoumaru chuckled and pulled him off of his person.

"Sess, you got to come see this! A trap door! I found it!" Miroku tugged on his sleeves towards the forest. Sesshoumaru sighed and followed his friend.

Miroku was just as strong as Sesshoumaru and was a few inches under him. His hair had gotten longer in the past ten years and his features had improved.

They ran through the trees and over to where there was a small door that led under the ground.

"Where does this lead?" Sesshoumaru asked, following his friend through the tunnel.

They reached the end and he noticed the area. Sesshoumaru stopped and looked at Miroku.

"Does anyone else know about this?"

Miroku shook his head.

Sesshoumaru nodded. "Good. This shall be kept a secret."

Naraku and Muoso stood on the hill talking. Muoso wished to take a wife and Naraku had agreed upon it.

Over on the other side, Kagome leaned against the rocks, staring out into the sky. Her midnight black hair flew in the air as the wind hit her. Her blue eyes shinned with emotions. Sango walked along the path and reached the princess.

"Your father requests your presence in the castle."

Kagome sighed and didnt move to get up. "Why does he wish for me? Why can't he understand I despise him." Slowly she got up and made her way to the village.

She stood in fron tof her father, a frown plastered upon her face.

"You wish me to be married? To whom may I ask?"

Naraku glared at his daughter. "It should not matter whom you are to be married to."

Kagome snorted. "And if I wish not to..?"

Naraku stared at his nails, not really caring. "Then you shall be put to death."

Kagome stood up and left the room and disappeared to her hut where she was found by Muoso.

"You heard the news?" he asked.

Kagome seperated the herbs and started crushing them. "Yes, but I do not like it. Though I accept it."

Muoso came up behind her and helped her with the crushing. She moved away from him and started cutting things.

"When I return, we shall get married. Be prepared." Muoso left her alone, letting her soak in the fact that when he returned, she would be his.
